Please note I have a 5 day limit before you inquire about longer stays. My calendar is up to date and reflects reality, so please check it before inquiring. Where to begin with Nancy... She is an incredible host & for our very first airbnb encounter I think we got extremely lucky!
From the very beginning she greeted us with open arms & shared a lot of useful information about San Fran in relation to public transport, sight seeing, restaurants, history & culture.
The room itself is very nicely decorated & fits 2 people comfortably. The bed is very comfortable & she provides extra blankets if you're cold (San Fran is pretty chilly). Both the bedroom & the private bathroom are in immaculate condition which is very important to us & the bonus breakfast/herbal teas were a nice touch.
Her home is located about 10 mins away from the city/union square via public transport & is in a quiet/friendly neighbour hood with plenty of food options within walking distance. If you like Mexican we recommend trying Papitos, delicious tacos :)
We highly recommend Nancy and the haven for your stay in San Fran, next time we visit San Fran we will definitely be staying here again.
Thank you Nancy for making our stay a really special one.
Callum & Rachelle
The warmheartest place we have ever been to!
At the time when we arrived at Nancy's place we were speechless. On top of the hill and right next to the door we could see the skyline of the whole city. And when Nancy opend the door we both felt more than welcome. She is a really lovely, helpfully and calm woman who is probably the best prepared air b&b offerer we ever met. We loved staying at hers. Our room and bathroom were really clean and the whole style of the house made it even more cozy. Not only that she provided towels and shampoo, she also offered us a great breakfast the first day and gave us nice recommondations for breakfast, dinner, walks or exhibitions.
We have nothing more to say than stay at this place!
Absolutely enjoyed our stay at Nancy's Urban Haven! Everything was perfect: the room, the location (supermarket and bus just some minutes away)and of course Nancy herself. She did everything that made us feeling like we are home. So we can absolutely recommend this place for having a fantastic time in SF!
Perfect host, perfect location, perfect neighborhood!
Nancy made us feel welcome from the very first moment and cared deeply about our needs. Nancy sincerely loves being an airbnb host and you can feel that in every aspect. She cares about her guests, their wellbeing and went out of her way to deal with our itinerary.
Her beautiful home is the perfect starting point for tourists wanting to explore the city. With several bus stops and great restaurants nearby, I can definitely recommend her and her home.
Nancy was understanding in my situation about running late and still made me feel welcome. Her place was clean, comfy and quite modern in a safe and nice area. It has a great view of the city too (when you stand outside on the street). Amenities were convenient (plenty of shops, cafes and restaurants) all within 5 minutes of walking. Public transport was close too. I enjoyed my stay here and I would definitely recommend staying here as I would be definitely staying here next year too!
Nancy was an incredible host. We received a warm welcome with very clear and useful instructions about staying at her place. She also gave us lots of helpful resources about the area. Her complimentary breakfast was the cherry on top to the already charming experience. When it comes to being an Airbnb host, Nancy is clearly playing at the level of the pros. We didn't spend much time at the house during the day so the size of the room was perfect for our needs. The neighborhood was equally great; it was quiet with lots of parking spots and the main attractions of the city were very accessible.
About the Host, Nancy
After 40 years in Social Work, I retired in 2009. I now spend my time in the garden, painting, traveling, maintaining body and spirit, and making my Urban Haven ready for the next guest. Don't know how I had time for my "day job".
Since 1975, I've been renovating my 1889 era SF Victorian. It is now complete. I am excited to share my space, wonderful city and neighborhood with Airbnb travelers. I am early to bed and early to rise. Seeking congenial quiet guests who would appreciate this special lodging.
I speak some French, Spanish and Italian. Enjoy practicing with my guests.
You can see more about me online by searching for nancenotes.
My first experience as an Airbnb guest in Puerto Vallarta was so wonderful I've now made reservations at 4 Airbnb's for my trip to Italy in September. What an adventure this is for hosts and guests! Look forward to meeting you one way or another.
Great breakfasts and lunch-opens at 7 during the week
Terrific Sushi and Pacific rim dishes. Very convenient.
Tiny French bistro-mostly counter with a few indoor and outdoor tables. They serve perhaps the best burgers in town, crepes, entrees, salads etc.
Mediterranean cuisine-from the classic shish kabob (chicken or lamb) to lobster ravioli. Great salads and Imaginative desserts.
Papitos serves imaginative Mexican food-everything from Duck to grilled shrimp and chorizo. You can select tacos, burritos and other options. Great salads and entree specials as well.
Terrific Northern Italian food. Great appetizers, pasta, fish & meat entrees. Delicious desserts. Open for lunch and dinner daily plus brunch on the weekends.
After my Welcome Breakfast or your feast at Plow, I recommend the Good Life for organic fruit, cereal and other items you may enjoy at the Haven
If you like pizza, this is pretty darned good. And if you are here on a Monday, you can try All you Can Eat night-I call it Pizza Dim Sum with varied trays of pizza delivered to your table.
Great thin crust pizzas, entrees, salads and desserts. Terrific coffee at their cafe.
Fabulous fried chicken and other soul food. Entrees come with 2 generous (fattening) sides. Or you can get (double or single) green salad. Start your meal with 2 corn muffins. Yum.
I love this place right on the Bay. Great burgers, brunch starting at 10 a.m., fish & chips, and fish tacos. Plus more. You can enjoy the view from the deck or by the window.
