This place is much bigger than any NYC apartment you'll see. Try a cartwheel, skid across the floor, do an early morning stretch. All without the fear of knocking a lamp over or losing a limb.
Located on the 3rd floor (no elevator), it's a pre-war, classic city apartment. Meaning yes it's old, but always clean.
One of the two bathrooms is for your use exclusively, and is stocked with clean towels and some free toiletries. Just what you need to wash that sweet city smell out of your pores. The shower is small, but it's all yours!
You'll have FULL access to a stocked kitchen. Perfect for sharpening your culinary skills, mixing morning mimosas or haphazardly throwing together a sandwich after a night of touristy hijinks.
For the non-cooking types, I also provide a list of restaurant recommendations.
UPDATE YOUR STATUS.
We have wifi! Because c’mon, this isn’t 1996.
You'll have a MEDIUM-sized PRIVATE room. It faces away from the street (because of this, it gets no sun). But if it's sunlight you crave, the living room has tons!
Room has a queen sized bed, fresh linens, a desk and a flat screen tv.
If you need anything, I always reply to emails & texts promptly.
Interaction with Guests
This is a 3 bedroom/2 bath apt.
*2nd room is also rented, so there may or may not be other guests during your stay. You would NOT share a bathroom with them, they would share the 2nd bath with me.
*I live in the 3rd bedroom.
Living/dining room and kitchen are shared.
The Upper East Side is prestigious and VERY safe. More importantly, famous people have lived here.
Some were real. Some were fake.
Real like Andy Warhol (painted soup cans across the street), Jackie O (jogged at the nearby reservoir) and Barack Obama.
Fakes like the Gossip Girls, The Jeffersons, Carrie Bradshaw and Bernie Maddoff (I said fake, not fictional)
The Met, The Guggenheim and Central Park are all within a 5 to 10 minute walk. There is also a ton of wonderful places to shop around 86th street.
Subway/Metro: 4,5,6 stop is a 4-minute walk.
We are on Lexington avenue. The further away from Lex you stay, the longer the walk to the subway!
Other Things to Note
The heating comes from radiators (as in most pre-war building in NYC). So each apartment can't control it. To cool down, just open a window.
When you book, you'll receive additional detailed airport transport options, with my exact address. I don't give out my address before a booking is made.
Taxi from LaGuardia*- 15 to 25 min cab ride/ $25+tip
Taxi from JFK* – 28 min cab /$52.00+tip
Taxi from Newark – Ha! Yeah, don’t take a cab from Newark. Unless you’re rich or Donald Trump, in which case we’ll assume you’re trolling AirBnb for real estate research. Otherwise, take Newark Airport Express Bus to Grand Central.
*Taxi availability, time and costs are approximate and subject to traffic, life and hiccups in the time/space continuum.
Please make sure you are cool will these rules before you book. Thank you.
No outside guests.
(Meaning no one aside from the 1-2 people listed on reservation.)
No late night loudness.
No eating in the room.
No losing your keys, they cost $50 to replace.
We had a wonderful stay. The apartment was clean, warm & quiet! We enjoyed the short walk to Central Park every morning. Sasha was a fabulous host and we will be coming back to NYC soon!
Sasha was a very professional host. She was accommodating when meeting up to give us the keys, had the room cleaned professionally, and when we arrived we found a helpful introductory packet to the apartment and neighborhood along with a subway map. The apartment itself is spacious, with a great living area. We shared the rest of the space with another nice couple who was there for a longer period of time, which I quite liked actually--it can help you feel a bit more comfortable sharing someone else's home when another guest is there as well--but everyone was out so much of the day there was only a little friendly interaction anyways. Overall, a nice apartment with a full kitchen in the great Upper East Side neighborhood, a few minutes walk from Central Park. Recommended.
Sacha was very nice and the apartment was cute if a bit too warm from time to time :)
S is very nice~ She met us at home although we arrived later. The apt is warm and cozy as pictured. The location is convenient, just ten minutes walk to the MET/central park and five minutes walk to subway. The neighborhood is safe and has lots of shops and supermarkets. It is a quiet neighborhood although you might hear the sound of subway once in a while (but it's NYC, right) We have a TV set in our bedroom so we can comfortably watch TV on bed. The shower is hot although the bathroom has no heater. Basically it is a good experience. Just one point, if you are a light sleeper like me, you might want to use earplugs to prevent the noise from the old heater.
A very convenient position. 5 minutes from 6 subway line.
10 minutes from Central Park.
Room looks bigger online but we managed.
Bathroom was freezing cold and therefore not as much of a pleasure having a shower as you need after a day's walking.
Very clean bedroom and bathroom.
Sasha was very kind as we were delayed and she waited for us to arrive.
She offered us a drink on arrival which was a lovely thought.
Our room was very warm, and the heating was rather noisy but this is not sasha's fault.
On departure Sasha let us stay longer as our flight wasn't until the evening. Again, a very kind gesture.
Overall a great experience which we would repeat.
We had a very good stay in NYC! The room was clean and comfortable, the house was in a perfect location (5 minutes to walk from Central Park and 5 minutes tu walk from the subway). Sasha was a very good host, always ready to help us if needed. Everything was ok!
Sasha was awesome, it was peaceful, I had a whole area to myself and my own bathroom. I would stay again. Thanks Sasha.
