You will be thrilled with Kauai if you like deserted beaches, many navigable rivers, fantastic foliage, incredible scenery, and the best hiking trails in the islands! See some links on the website below. The ocean or Queen's Bath is right across the street, a top destination on Kauai. It is a natural lava pool. There are beaches all over Princeville, most within 1-2 miles; Hideaways Beach, Sandpiper Beach, the (email hidden)gis Hotel, Turtle Cove, and the beach at the Wyndham. A (website hidden) map can probably give you some idea of their locations.
There is a pool and hot tub in the private walled courtyard and an outdoor shower. Access 9am -9pm. There is lawn and gardens, bridge and koi pond in back of the house.
Interaction with Guests
We love meeting our guests, sharing travels, and giving advice about interests on Kauai.
Princeville is a development of some 500 acres on the north shore of Kauai, between the towns of Hanalei and Kilauea. What started as a coffee plantation in the mid-1800s is now the largest planned development on Kauai. Princeville is home to some of the finest resorts, golf courses and restaurants on the islands. Kauai’s north shore is also where you’ll find some of the most spectacular scenery in Hawaii. There are three main beaches in Princeville, which are Kenomene Beach, Kaweonui Beach and Puu Poa Beach. A wide reef along these beaches creates warm pockets for swimming and snorkeling in calm weather. Other area activities include tennis, golf, windsurfing, kayaking, fishing, sailing, helicopter tours and shopping. You can arrange for a private guided jungle hike, waterfall excursion or kayaking adventure.
It is just about a mile to the Kauai Bus stop at the shopping center.
Other Things to Note
We strive to meet the needs of our guests and hope you will come to us with any questions or problems.
There is a copy of house rules and helpful tips in your ohana. No pets and no smoking.
Coral and Ian were fantastic hosts! They were extremely welcoming, with a list of helpful tips and things to do. The upstairs studio was quaint and more than met our needs (the kitchenette was especially helpful in that we went to the store and made breakfast just about everyday). The hot tub was nice as was the entryway with the pool and beautiful flowers. Along with the nice fruit basket, we were able to pick available fruit in the backyard. It's an excellent place to stay in a quiet neighborhood, especially if you want to avoid a hotel setting. I would definitely stay here again!
We had such a wonderful time staying at Coral & Ian's home. They are such kind people and have made us feel so welcome in their space. We loved the view from the room, the firm bed, the soft pillows, the hot tub, being right next to the queen's bath. The only problem is that we didn't book are whole trip here :)
Our host Coral was very accommodating of our late arrival. She gave us clear instructions and everything was ready for us. Inside the suite were fresh flowers and a few fruit. It was lovely.
The listing was accurate, so things me our expectations. Didn't use the pool or hot tube, but they were clean and accessible. We did use the boogie board and beach chairs that were available. That was great for days at the beach.
The Princeville neighborhood is quiet and everyone is friendly. It definitely has a resort vibe.
This is a wonderful guestroom with its own entrance that is very attractive & well stocked with everything one could want. Coral and Ian were very welcoming and gracious. Coral gave us good tips about which beaches were safe to swim in when the surf was dangerous. We loved using their hot tub after hiking and kayaking, and the location is perfect for lots of north shore adventures.
The neighborhood was very safe and peaceful (except for the roosters crowing at 5am - a feature of the island). There was a nice basket of fruit, coffee, and cookies waiting for us upon arrival, a nice touch. We were located right next to the Queen's Bath as well as a nice clearing and overlook of the ocean. We wish that Coral or Ian had directed us to the overlook as we only discovered it on our last day. The room was as advertised, but did smell a little musty. The sheets were fresh, but not sure how recently the comforter had been laundered. There was a lack of dresser drawers to unpack into so we lived out of our suitcases. We never met Coral in person, but Ian did introduce himself and show us around a bit. We would have appreciated a little more personal contact with the Hosts. We asked Ian for a breakfast recommendation the first day and Ian did not have one, we were able to find the Hanalei Coffee Roasters in Hanalei and would highly recommend them and their Waffles with fruit (ask for Buckwheat waffles if you like). We also visited the local Botanical Garden with the chocolate tour, which we highly recommend. The lack of air conditioning in the room was not an issue for us, we utilized the two portable fans placed in front of the screen doors for evening cooling. I can see how this might be an issue for some at warmer periods of the year. I would also recommend that the owners replace the ceiling fan as it does not work properly, only spinning backwards and the attached lighting cannot be shut off without turning off the fan. Also for those visiting, the St. Regis hotel down the road is a must visit for lunch or dinner as the views are stunning. All in all, the property worked well as a home base for exploring the north side of the island. I would recommend it as a good option for price conscious visitors to the island as long as the visitor is aware of some of the caveats raised here and by other reviewers.
Thank you Marc, I always appreciate feedback from our guests. The musty smell usually comes in from the outside after it rains. I had one other guest comment on that. The duvet does have a couple of stains I couldn't get out... time to buy a new one. I had wire shelving in the closet for clothes buy no one ever used it so I took it out. Again, will rethink. The fan and light do operate separately but the wand is tricky. I usually advise guests to leave the sliding doors open during their stay as the trades keep the room cool. Thank you for the tips for other guests and sorry we didn't get to communicate.
Made us feel very welcome description was accurate neighborhood is beautifully quietly suburban. 2 minute walk to beautiful views of the Pacific and a two minute walk to an easy hike with waterfalls down to a lovely natural pool. The setting is ideal. this studio apartment was very clean and comfortable. There is a beautiful porch overlooking a well-planned lush garden. A truly beautiful vacation
absolutely perfect! my unit was so comfortable, clean, nicely designed with tall open raftered ceilings, private, quiet. the space is on the second level, so you get nice breezes, a territorial view, and you can hear the ocean. The place is built in a way that you can't hear people walking or talking. also, did i say private? Coral and Ian were there if I needed them, but everything was provided for, so really no need to bother them. I could sit on my private lanai and watch neighbors walk by on the street, watch the birds, enjoy the setting, and be invisible! a great get away spot. Thank you, Coral & Ian!
a block away was an empty lot that was on cliff abv. the ocean. nice place to hang out and watch the sun set.
