Private room in well decorated heritage house (built in 1890). Across the street from a Park. Two blocks to the ocean, two blocks to a 24 hour grocery store, liquor store and coffee shop. 10 minute walk to downtown. Dog/pet friendly. Surfer friendly. Lots of Street parking outside.
The whole house, kitchen, little yard, bbq, laundry, compost, recycling.
I am a photographer and run a photography studio M to F 8:30 to 5. Outside of that time I like to cook and hang out with friends. I surf whenever I can, so may not be around that much if the waves are good. my mellow, friendly dog
is at home while I'm at work, you can hang out with him and walk him all you want.
Guests are more than welcome to use the kitchen, I do not provide breakfast.
I like to have small dinner parties, which you are welcome to join in on.
James Bay is Rad. It is located on a small peninsula that connects to downtown. It's quiet and close to everything. It has a small center that includes a grocery store, liquor store, coffee shop and pub.
Walking and biking/skateboarding are the best. There is also a bus stop just outside the house that takes you downtown.
The bedroom is up a steep narrow stair case. The space works best for independent dog loving guests who want a nice quiet place to stay that is close to downtown. Bring slippers as the kitchen floor is cold tile.
The place was very small. I enjoyed the decor and the friendly hosts. The shared bathroom was on the main level and was very cold (to "save on heating costs") with no hand towels, tissues, or water glasses. The bedroom was minimal, quaint and warm, but not sound proof by any means. Overall it was a good stay, but it felt more like (website hidden) then a bed and breakfast.
Sorry to hear that you guys didn't have a great stay.
As it was your first experience with Airbnb and you are used to (website hidden) i would recommend that next time you read the entire listing before booking. If there is something in the listing that you don't think you'll like, then communicate with the host before booking, or don't book.
Hope your next experience is more to your liking!
Adam was a gracious host: very helpful with suggestions and directions. The house is clean, old, and quaint: it is very "Victoria" like. Over all, it was a very pleasant experience. Give this "sunny room in a heritage house" a try, and you won't regret it.
Adam and his wife were great hosts! Their house is adorable and was very clean and cozy. It is within walking distance to downtown, and we were able to find parking on the street, too. We had a private bedroom with lots of space. We'd definitely stay there again and I absolutely recommend his place to anyone traveling to Victoria. We booked his place last minute and he responded almost immediately, allowing us to show up only a few hours later (basically as soon as we got to town).
Had a great time in Victoria! Adam's house was very accessible to downtown Victoria, Fisherman's Wharf, Beacon Hill Park, and the ferry terminals! We were able to walk everywhere. It was also great to have access to Adam's kitchen to do some of our own cooking while we were there.
Unfortunately we did not get to meet Sarah, but we did get to spend some time with Adam and Sidney (awesome golden retriever). Adam was very easy to work with and we would definitely stay with them again the next time we head up to Victoria!
While we never met Adam and Sara during our Christmas stay, my partner and I greatly enjoyed our overnight at their cozy house. Their place was clean, quaint, and they had provided all the necessities for our (website hidden) was very charming all around. Thanks again!
Perfect setup! Adam, Sara & Sidney were amazingly easy going and accommodating, house was super comfy and clean, and the room was just right. Walked to dinner and a show, came home, slept like a log. Can't ask for much more! Would (and will) definitely visit again.
The house was a very creative and fun place to stay. Adam was a great host, we never met but he was very quick to answer any questions. Great stay!
Adam and Sid were the best hosts we could have for our first weeks in Victoria. Adam was welcoming, easy going and always ready to help and give us some tips about the city and everything. Sid was the perfect buddy to walk with along the prettiest shore of Victoria (2 blocks from the place) and introduce us to the many locals.
We spent two weeks at Adam's pretty house and definitly recommand it.
Beautiful house in a great location
Adam was a great host, giving us good tips of places to see. The room was great and exactly as described. It is well located in town, close to everything. The neighbourhood was very quiet.
