Luzi & Marco
Short story: Luzi rented us an apartment on the beach that she does not own. There were plumbing problems that created so much noise that we were forced to leave. She was unable to come up with an alternative place for us to stay so we had to cut our trip short. She has since put the property in the name of a woman name Laura. Luzi is sweet to your face, and did attempt to fix the issues. However-after agreeing we could not sleep there she-is-refusing-us-a-refund-for-the days-we-could-not-stay.
Day-one-Luzi-informs-us-that-there-will-be-workers-on-the-balcony-at 8:30 to work on the thatch eves for the restaurant below the apartment. We-thought-she-meant-8:30am, but the loud-hammering started-around 8:30pm the next evening. We were informed by the construction crew that they would be working late into the night. Luzi was able to put us at another apart for the evening. So we grabbed what we needed and trekked about 15 minutes with her to an apartment that had not been cleaned since the prior tenants departed. We didn't complain because we sincerely felt she had no control over the situation. The next day there was a power outage-on the block were our apartment was located. No big deal. However, that evening the pipes in the apartment started howling and there was a sewer smell coming up through the pipes. We spoke to Luzi about it and she called a plumber. The plumber did not know what was making the howling noise. He did work on the toilet and shower drain and the sewer smell dissipated. Strangely the pipes stopped howling for one night and then started up again the next afternoon. She came to hear the pipes with that actual owner of the property. However she said there was nothing they could do about the noise, and that she had actually had to pay out of her pocket for the plumber the day prior. We started looking for another place to stay, but this was winter break. Everything was booked or over twice what we had paid for the apartment! We asked her and the owner (who speaks mostly Italian) if they had any solutions for the predicament; everyone had agreed that it was too noisy to be able to sleep. They had no suggestions except to stay in the hotel next door. So we decided to cut our stay short and booked a flight home for the next day. The flight change was an additional cost but at this point we had no place to sleep. At around midnight we ended up going to the hotel next door because even with earplugs in we could not drown out the noise! This cost us an additional $210 for the one night (place was dumpy). At the hotel we were given the room that was closest to the apartment we were staying in and we could still hear the pipes howling!
We have requested a refund for the nights we were unable to stay and she is ignoring us.
