Comfortable, first floor bedroom and half-bath in a house with a park-like setting. Large sunny yard with flower and vegetable gardens on a wooded 5 acres along the Green River, only 10 miles to Brattleboro, 3 miles to Marlboro College and half hour to Mount Snow.
The location is very private and quiet with great hiking, biking, or snowshoeing right from the front door. It's off-the-beaten-path, but well worth the drive to experience the true Vermont. The sun-filled kitchen overlooking the yard is the perfect place to have a cup of coffee or tea. There is also a room on the second floor for additional guests at $45/night.
Guests will have access to the full house including living room with wood stove, a full bath and kitchen.
Interaction with Guests
I love to share my enthusiasm for southern Vermont with guests and will provide a breakfast with eggs, baked goods and fresh fruit.
My favorite aspect to living in Halifax is the rural setting and, of course, the river! This is a wonderful area for prime foliage viewing. And when the snow falls, you can snowshoe right from the front door!
I ask that there is no smoking in the house or on the property.
I stayed at Susan's place this past weekend. Susan gave us very precise directions to reach safe and sound. She was very welcoming and made us feel at home. Her place is very charming and just next to the green river. She even made us delicious muffins for breakfast. Would definitely stay there again. (But would make sure to have snow tires/ 4 wheel drive for winter).
We had a great time at Susan's home. The house was situated in a beautiful and peaceful piece of land, (the road that the house is located is perfect! easy to reach the house ). WE had every morning a nice cup of coffee and fruit salad watching the birds outside. The area is great to go biking, hiking , running or just walk by the river. Brattleboro is 15 minutes away, easy to go for a bite. We definetly will be back. Thanks Susan .
My partner Kim and I had a very sweet time at Susan's place. Susan is a warm and engaged host. She was extremely generous during our time there, sharing some goodies she had baked for the holidays and taking us on a hike into the woods beyond her property. WE felt very much at home. Susan's house is extremely quiet and comfortable - we loved the wood stove in the living room. The room we stayed in is small and cozy - fine for two people. Susan gave us excellent suggestions about things to do in town. Overall we had a very positive experience here.
We just loved Susan, and her lovely, comfortable home. She made sure we had directions to her home well in advance. She was so sweet, thoughtful and kind, and warm. We didn't want to leave. She asked if we wanted coffee in the morning, which we so appreciated. Her biscotti were Devine, too! We are plotting how we can go back for a visit. I highly recommend a visit!
Susan was a WONDERFUL host. I enjoyed my stay with her.
Not only is she a lovely person but she made me feel so welcome. I didn't have my trip entirely planned so she had many great suggestions.
The room is exactly as pictured and it has a nice large closet and a large dresser. You have two windows that draw in sunlight every morning so it was nice waking up to that. You should also expect to wake up to either coffee/tea and some fresh fruit. The place is situated close to Brattleboro and Wilmington and it's tucked away so it's a nice little retreat. I took a run one morning right outside the house and it was just lovely. I would without a doubt recommend staying with her as I would definitely do it again if I visited Vermont.
Susan was a perfect host, easy to communicate with, good directions, accommodating, respectful, and an excellent baker! The room was as described and the secluded spot lovely, but very close to Marlboro College and Brattleboro. Comfortable, cosy and clean room with toilet and sink. Susan got up early to provide a delicious breakfast. We stayed just one night. A very welcoming Vermont feeling!
We had a lovely time at Susan's. We slept wonderfully in the cozy room and really enjoyed the muffins and fruit salad at breakfast--she even gave us some for the road! We appreciated her being flexible about our arrival time and easygoing in general.
I enjoy being active, whether it's traveling around the country or just going for a run or hike around my house. Weekdays I am at a local middle/high school teaching Family & Consumer Science. Weekends I am usually working in the garden or enjoying the best that southern Vermont has to offer. I feel truly blessed to live in such a beautiful and charming area, and enjoy sharing it with guests.
