Private room in Halifax

Bed & Breakfast - Private room · Perry Road, Brattleboro, VT 05301, United States

Comfortable, first floor bedroom and half-bath in a house with a park-like setting. Large sunny yard with flower and vegetable gardens on a wooded 5 acres along the Green River, only 10 miles to Brattleboro, 3 miles to Marlboro College and half hour to Mount Snow.

The Space

The location is very private and quiet with great hiking, biking, or snowshoeing right from the front door. It's off-the-beaten-path, but well worth the drive to experience the true Vermont. The sun-filled kitchen overlooking the yard is the perfect place to have a cup of coffee or tea. There is also a room on the second floor for additional guests at $45/night.

Guest Access

Guests will have access to the full house including living room with wood stove, a full bath and kitchen.

Interaction with Guests

I love to share my enthusiasm for southern Vermont with guests and will provide a breakfast with eggs, baked goods and fresh fruit.

The Neighborhood

My favorite aspect to living in Halifax is the rural setting and, of course, the river! This is a wonderful area for prime foliage viewing. And when the snow falls, you can snowshoe right from the front door!

  • We stayed with Susan for one night in her lovely house in the very nature. We got there when it was dark but because of the good directions that worked out well. It was nice to talk with Susan and we had a nice room with a good bed. In the morning there were muffins and there was fresh fruit. We definitely recommend a stay here!

  • Susan was warm and welcoming & helped make sure we had a comfortable stay. The house was lovely though a bit difficult to access without four wheel drive through the snow! We had a great trip & would definitely recommend staying here.

  • Staying at Susan's home is a true Vermont experience. It is a lovely antique home set in the countryside. A river runs close by and you can hear it from the house. The mountain air is fresh and in the evening you can see more stars than you get to see in most of places because the light pollution in so low. The room is very nice. It's on the first floor and private; with it's own in-suite toilet and sink which is convenient and adds to the comfort level. Susan is also very kind and gracious. She was accommodating and pleasant to talk with. She put out coffee, fruit salad and muffins for breakfast which were eaten while watching the birds in her garden, through the kitchen window.
This home is close to Marlboro College and an excellent place to stay for anyone visiting the school. Highly recommended.

  • Susan is kind and warm. She is also a great communicator and provided good directions on how to reach her home. She is incredibly welcoming and generous as well. Her room has a very comfortable bed and a nice half bath. I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know Susan and the conversations we had. She served great homemade biscotti in the morning, along with coffee and fruit salad. Susan even packed up some biscotti for my drive! I would recommend staying with Susan!

    Response from Susan:

Thank you so much, Heather! It was wonderful hosting you!

  • Susan Rogers was a wonderful host. I felt very welcomed in her home. Her home was beautiful and clean, and the room I slept in had it's own half bath. The bed was comfortable, and her directions to her home were clear. The setting was peaceful and serene. She offered me tea at night and she had a beautiful fruit salad available in the morning as well as some home made Biscotti which was delicious. I felt she would have been just as happy to let me be alone in the room as she was to engage socially. We ended up having a great conversation by the fire. I would very much recommend her room if you need tor want to stay near Halifax.

About
I enjoy being active, whether it's traveling around the country or just going for a run or hike around my house. Weekdays I am at a local middle/high school teaching Family & Consumer Science. Weekends I am usually working in the garden or enjoying the best that southern Vermont has to offer. I feel truly blessed to live in such a beautiful and charming area, and enjoy sharing it with guests.
