This cozy 1br apt. is a perfect place for a quiet NYC stay. The neighborhood has every amenity you need and is easy to get into the city. 1 block from the 7 train. Apt avail mostly on weekends, weekday options may be avail too. Quiet, Clean, Comfortable
I take great pride in my living space and want it to feel comfortable, and organized. The Apartment has a queen size bed in the bedroom, and there is extra bedding on the sofa. The building is very quiet and since I am on the top floor, there are not any noises above me. The Apartment is located on the back floor and has an abundance of daylight. All new kitchen and bath, nicely finished hardwood floors. There is no elevator in the building.
There is a lock for the main front door of the building as well as a lock on the apt door. I will either need to mail you keys in advance or make arrangements to leave them at a nearby business. Because of this, it is difficult to accept any last minute reservations if I am not in town.
I will not be in town if the apt is available, so you won't even see me!
The neighborhood has a lot to offer and is a very safe and diverse neighborhood. With in steps of the front door, there are grocery and drug stores, dry cleaners, restaurants, bodegas (small corner markets) food trucks, starbucks etc.Sunnyside was recently voted #3 in best NYC neighborhoods to live in.
The 7 line subway is just 1 block from my house. I live on the local 7 line, which is indicated by a green iluminated circle on the cars. It is about 6 stops into Manhattan from my stop at 46th/Bliss. The 7 train stops at several central locations including Grand Central Station, Bryant Park, and Times Square.
Stayed in Rick his apartment for some days and i really liked it.
With subway/metro 7 you can get to Times Square within 10-15 minutes and to Central Park it's just a few blocks walking after getting of the Subway. Before going to NY Rick answered all my questions and was really helpfull.
The apartment has everything you need, good bed, nice/warm shower, nice sofa and cable TV (at the time i was there there was a golfgame going on which i could see on the TV at night).
The apartment was very clean and well decorated, i would recommend to anyone and will come back the day i will go to NY again.
I would simply second all the positive comments regarding Rick's place: lovely, comfortable, clean, safe, wonderful location - hard to beat!
Also Rick is a great host. He is easy to communicate with and there are no surprises. He's prompt, friendly, helpful and professional.
We enjoyed our stay at Rick's appartment very much. It is clean and cosy and has a great location - it's just 15-20 minutes to Times Square by subway. The area is alright, we didn't feel unsafe at any time. There is a 24h grocery store next to the subway station (3 minute walk). It was usually easy to communicate with Rick. The day of our arrival, we had problems in finding the keys and the key for the front door didn't work, unfortunately we weren't able to contact him then (we arrived late, because of a flight change).
All in all a great apartment and a wonderful stay in NYC. This is the perfect place for discovering New York and we would highly recommend it!
Ricks place is exactly as he describes it. cute and cozy is how I would like to describe his apartment! It was decorated with a Christmas tree and the place was the cleanest airbnb listing I've stayed at- it's almost as clean as a hotel. Sunny side is very safe and convenient location with lots of choices of restaurants and marts. The train station is a block away and it's one train ride away from manhattan.
It is on the 4th floor and was a bit difficult to carry a 50lbs luggage alone but I guess having no elevator is a standard NY apartment.
Rick was super fast with responding to any of my questions was flexible with my check in time.
I have nothing bad to say about this place and I recommend it to anyone who is staying in NY!
Great apartment in a charming neighbourhood, very close to the subway. Easy to get to Manhattan (a little over 10 minutes subway), and walkable to PS1. The apartment is quiet with very little street or neighbour noise.
FYI no table to eat at, but no other issues. Very neighbourhood-y feel.
We had a great stay in Sunnyside. The apartment was exactly as presented. It was extremely clean and had everything we needed. Above all, Rick was wonderful to deal with. He was very quick to respond and made us feel right at home even though we never met. I will definitely recommend this spot to others and hope to stay there again in the future.
Rick is an excellent host - he was very accommodating of our travel arrangements when it came to check-in and keys and he was excellent for communication at all times.
The apartment is situated just a single block from the stop for 7 local trains in Sunnyside. I don't think we have ever been so conveniently located for a train station. Despite this, the apartment faces onto a residential courtyard so there is no road traffic noise and no trains can be heard from the apartment.
The apartment is very tastefully decorated - Rick's passion for travel and aviation is everywhere you go, and this definitely adds to the experience for his guests.
If you plan on eating out locally try breakfast in Alpha Donuts opposite the 7 stop on Queens Boulevard. Great coffee and many of the pastries are gone by mid-morning. For your evening meal there's a cool BYOB spot on 46th called "Bistro 46" - the waiter is workplace chaos personified but we loved him, a real character. If you're looking for a big feed go to Sidetracks, again opposite the 7 stop on Queens Boulevard.
Rick's place has a really comfortable bed and a great shower. Manhattan is less than 15 minute's journey on the 7 train. We would definitely recommend Rick's apartment to anyone who plans on visiting NYC.
Ricks place was absolutely great. It was very easy to get to via cab or metro and it was immaculately clean. We felt extremely comfortable the entire time there and was a bit sad to leave it. Rick was extremely responsive to every question we had and our stay was perfect. We definitely will try to stay there again during our next trip to New York.
Rick's place was the perfect solace from a busy NYC weekend, and in a great neighborhood! There was a mix up on the address, and he was more than accommodating in figuring it out with us. It was so fun to live in a fancy and well designed New York space for such a low price. I highly recommend his apartment for your stay.
My husband and I stayed at Rick's apartment in Sunnyside over the weekend. It was a perfect base for visiting my daughter, who lives a few blocks away - much more convenient than a hotel, much closer, and MUCH cheaper.
The apartment is immaculate, beautifully decorated, and filled with light (probably because it's on the 4th floor. And there's no lift, which was really only a problem getting the suitcase upstairs).
We would definitely stay there again.
