Only an hour away by boat from Maputo this simple beach house with spectacular sea views is nestled in nature. Next to the Elephant Reserve, dolphins, flamingos, monkeys and red duikers are common visitors. Enjoy quiet pristine beach and snorkel in the amazing natural reserve. 5min walk uphill from beach to cabin.

And please don't have high expectations because of the amazing reviews :) It's just a simple wood cabin.

Other things to note
Please remember it's just a simple wood cabin.
Don't forget this is Africa, like any other house in the bush, there can be some insects around.

Never to this date we’ve had things stolen, from us or from any clients. Just don’t keep money and gadgets outside. At the beach just keep them hidden and don’t leave them to far from you.
Be careful with Hells Gate (Channel between Santa Maria and Inhaca) very strong currents sometimes.
Down at the beach in front of the cabin the water is quiet and slow great for kids.

Water is from a well. We do drink it and you can cook with it. Use water wisely.

Unfortunately power cuts are common. Usually they don't last too long.
Please turn off AC when leaving the house.

There's no ATMs nearby, so please remember to take cash with you.

No Wi-Fi at the cabin but there’s Wi-Fi at the local restaurant for 250 meticais/day (+/-4$/day).

The only Networks available are Vodacom (better) and Movitel (no so good) both with 3G. You can buy SIM cards at Santa Maria village. But better bring from Maputo, you’ll need your passport to register.

There's a little shop nearby (15min on foot) where you can get fresh local bread, water, soft drinks, beer, milk and some basic stuff like crackers, chips, flour, sugar, tomatoes, onions, oil, mayonnaise, rice, spaghetti. If you need anything from the shop just ask the worker. It's a 15 min walk there. So all the food you might want better get it in Maputo before arrival.
The shop also as Panado & Granpa.

// Bar & Restaurant
There's a lovely bar at the beach (7min on foot) where you can go for drinks and you can try the famous R&R. Do stay for the sunset.
There’s also a great restaurant (10min on foot) where you can enjoy some local Mozambican food, all at a good price. The seafood is great, main plates include Prawns, Lobster, Fresh Local Fish, Calamari and Chicken.

//Transport - Boat

To get there it's about an 1 hour by boat. If you have you own boat great, otherwise I can help you arrange a charter boat transport with additional costs.

As you may guess Santa Maria is very weather dependable. When going by boat. You have to always understand that there's a chance the weather won't be good. So it's always good to have flexible dates if possible. Depending on weather you may have to go or come back a day earlier or a day latter if the days you chose are windy. It's possible it's great weather both days, it's just something to have in mind.
You can always text me a few days prior, just to check on the weather.

//Transport - Car
If you are driving, YOU MUST HAVE a 4x4 (Not SUV). Trip is around 4/5 hours from Maputo (it'll be a challenge if you're not used to off road tracks) (try entering the Elephant Reserve gate by 2pm the latest) There is no network most of the way so please make sure you've prepared for this trip. Its not easy access and do ask me for the coordinates of the house to help you get there (money won't be refunded if you can't get to the cabin).
But it's amazing, because you go through the Elephant Reserve and you do an amazing Safari. Common sightings include Elephants, Giraffes, Zebras, Hippos, Wildebeest, Crocodiles, Kudus, Impalas, Warthogs, Duikers and many more.
Google maps does have the route there. Try with this coordinates. Once you get in the Elephant Reserve you have to follow the electric posts. Because they go right past behind the house. When you start getting far from them just take next road to that side. You must have a working phone so I can help you getting to the cabin. We’ve had clients sleeping the night at the Elephant Reserve because they got stuck.

Please be very careful when swimming around the channel (Hells Gate) and Inhaca Marine Reserve when snorkeling, specially when tide is going out. Its very dangerous and strong currents. Keep yourself close to sore.
