Anglesea is a small coastal holiday village 90 minutes drive from Melbourne at the start of the scenic Great Ocean Road. It is a two hour ocean road drive from here to the Twelve Apostles. It is surrounded by National Park and has excellent restaurants, great beaches, good shopping and a wonderful 18 hole Golf Course where visitors are always welcome. The Golf Course is famous for its Kangaroos .
Where the Anglesea River meets the sea, families play in the shallows or swim in the lifesaver patrolled surf beach. Enjoy a variety of beach and cliff top walks, taking in scenic ocean views.
Cycle numerous bike paths along the Anglesea River and wetlands, home to numerous bird species. You can also paddle the river. Canoes are available for hire, as are small motorboats and paddleboats.
It is a 12 minute drive to world famous Bells Beach, 15 minutes to Torquay and the surfing outlets and 25 minutes to Lorne and its up-market shopping, surrounding waterfalls and scenic walks in the Otway National Park.
There are numerous trains to Geelong from Melbourne and a number of buses daily to Anglesea. A car would be helpful to explore The Great Ocean Rd and surrounds.

Claire's house is a beautiful home with everything we needed to have a truly relaxing holiday. The location was blissfully quiet and looking over the tree tops from the deck or living area meant we could enjoy our surrounds without going anywhere. We could settle in immediately on arrival with the welcoming supplies of milk, bread, orange juice and fresh tomatoes & basil from the garden. The kitchen was equipped with everything a cook could need, the bedrooms were fresh, the towels were soft, the boardgames fun, and the walk to town was a pleasant stroll through a nature reserve. Thanks Claire for your thoughtful hosting.
From the welcoming package to any queries on settling in,Claire made every effort to make our stay enjoyable. The house was as described and easily accommodated 10 of us. Our ages ranged from 2 to 87 so it is a house anyone can enjoy provided they can manage steps. Everything worked perfectly and the bush setting was very peaceful. We enjoyed walking through the bush track to the river and shops.
Absolutely no disappointments at all.
Thanks Claire, we loved our stay
My family had a fantastic stay at Claire's house for a week over Christmas. She made us feel very welcome, leaving us some provisions and putting up a Christmas tree. The house is exactly as described, and was perfect for us - 7 adults and a baby. Claire was extremely helpful both in the lead-up to our stay and while we were in the house. I would definitely stay again, and recommend this house to others.
We loved our stay at Claires house. We stayed with family and friends in the week over New Years and it was fantastic. The house itself has plenty of room, so people can do there own thing when they want. It also has large, very well set up communal areas which are perfect for socialising. The kitchen has endless crockery and cultery which was great and it also well stocked in general. We made the most of the large dining table, both decks with their tables and chairs and the two BBQs. We appreciated the little touches, like there being fresh milk and bread when we arrived, the well stocked bookshelf with prepaid envelopes to return books if you didn't finish them, the movies that were available to watch and general presentation of the house. There was also a very detailled local area guide which was very helpful.
The location of the house was great. We enjoyed the walk down to the river, along the tree lined path and easy access to all the shops and cafes right near by. Anglesea beach itself is gorgeous, as are many of the other beaches right near by.
We spent a lot of time hanging out on the deck which was great whatever the weather. We made the most of the hammocks and enjoyed the regular visits by local wildlife.
This house is the perfect place for a group of friends, or a couple of familys to spend time relaxing and making the most of the fabulous setting. The seperate downstairs bedroom, bathroom and lounge area allows privacy for anyone needing it. We would highly reccomend this house and have friends who are hoping to stay there again in the future.
Thanks Claire for all your help!
Claire's home was absolutely lovely! They went out of their way to make sure that their home had nice little additions to make us feel at home for the holidays. There was a Xmas tree in the corner, wine bread, juice and milk when we arrived. They even have a book nook that includes return postage paid envelopes so that you can send their book back if you want to take it with you when you leave to finish reading it! She was a delight to communicate with as well. Highly recommended!
