The Space

Large Family Home.

It is a big house, so if my calendar appears to be booked, ask me anyway. Chances are there is a room available.

Guest Access

You may have a choice between 5 bedrooms. Each bedroom is rented separately and can only accommodate up to 2 people (and a pack-n-play crib if you bring one). If you have more than 2 people, you should ask for more than one room.

Interaction with Guests

We will interact as little or as much as you desire.

The Neighborhood

Our neighborhood is very stately and manicured and green with broad sidewalks. You can walk to Starbucks and CVS and other stores and restaurants. We are just down the street from the Brown Football Stadium.

Getting around

The #40 bus stops around the corner.
The train station is a 20 minute walk (uphill - call and I'll pick you up).

Other Things to Note

For an additional $8/person ($10 with wine or beer) you can also have dinner with us. We are vegetarian and all produce is fresh and purchased locally. Dinner is usually served at 7:30pm.
If you have any food allergies or restriction, and you let me know ahead of time, I can try to accommodate.
I am allergic to bananas.

  • Lovely people, lovely home, lovely neighborhood. A quiet comfortable stay in Providence.

  • Shari and her husband were wonderful hosts, who opened their home to us on short notice. They really made us feel right at home, and their dog was really cute and friendly. Their house was located in a beautiful neighbourhood, within walking distance to restaurants and bars. They made us breakfast, and were kind enough to both pick us up and drop us off at the bus station, as well as give us some tips on what not to miss during our time in the US!

  • Shari and Zachary are absolutely fantastic. Shari offered to pick me up from the bus station, and was very welcoming. They have a beautiful house at a great location, and the most well behaved dog I have ever (website hidden) room was clean with a great mattress. I had some very interesting conversations with the Zachary and Shari. Shari offered great advice while I was apartment hunting, took me to a showing herself, and eventually helped me find a place in a nice location. She also offered to extend my stay, which was a huge relief as I hadn't found an apartment at that time. They did more than I could ever imagine, and I will remember them for that.

  • We had a positive experience staying with Shari and her family. She was kind and accomodating. The house was lovely, conveniently located near the train station and Providence central. On another note, the bathroom was unclean, making us feel a bit uncomfortable using it.

  • My sister and I enjoyed our stay in Shari's lovely home. The accommodations were perfect. Shari gave us tips on the must see "cottages", they were amazing and one of the highlights of our trip! I highly recommend staying with Shari and hope I can return again soon!

  • Shari is a gracious host. Our room is spacious and pleasant, has a super comfortable bed and a private bathroom. The home is located on a quiet street a short distance from Brown, the historic district, and a nice park. Off-street parking is a real asset for this location. It was exactly what we were looking for!

  • Shari and Zach were warm hosts with a cozy home. I learned a lot from their experiences and would love to stay again!

  • In a nutshell, during our stay, we simply felt at home and Shari & Zachary as our own family. Can't leave out the gentle "Milo", their pet dog, who played with us in the RISD beach in the cold waters :-).
Shari and Zachary were the best hosts we have ever met. Two extremely knowledgeable persons but with their humble demeanor, was quick to enter our minds. They were always helping and guiding us.

Great hosts and beautiful friends whom we will never forget!! Thanks Shari, Zachary & Milo.

  • My brother and nephew came to town to visit on short notice, and I wanted them to be able to stay close by. Shari to the rescue! She accepted my reservation on very short notice and even invited me to come by and meet her. She was welcoming and easygoing, the location was perfect, and the beds were comfortable. It worked out very well for us.

We have lived in Providence for a little over 4 years and I never thought I would like it as much as I do. It is a great walking city, but you can borrow one of our bikes if you'd rather ride. There is lots of good outdoor space. Our neighborhood is very green and full of flowers. I can see the ocean (well the Narragansett Bay) every day, a short walk or drive away. The food scene here is varied, plentiful and affordable. I can offer suggestions. It is very easy to be a vegetarian. We belong to a CSA so we get fresh fruit and vegetables every week to add to what we grow in pots on our terrace. I love living walking distance to Brown University. During the school year there are always fun things going on. On the weekends there are often street festivals or markets or celebrations downtown. I can point you in the right direction. If it is a rainy day, the RISD museum is a favorite.
