Winter Update, Tuesday February 10th,
Couldn't resistst another update. We skied Sugar Bowl today and were pleasantly surprised. The coverage on the groomed runs was great and the skiing was delightful. Felt like winter again.
Winter Update, Monday, February 9th,
Well guess what, we actually got some snow over the weekend. Not at our house because the snow level was high, but the resorts picked up a foot or more. Almost twice as much snow fell at the top because some fell as rain at the bottom. It was very wet and dense and perfect for adding to the base. Hopfully now we can get some lighter stuff on top of that. Be sure to check out open snow online for what's coming.
We offer a private bedroom with queen size bed, and private bathroom on the lower floor of our super insulated passive solar home, built with our own hands. There is a small private deck off the bedroom for your use. Our living area is on the main floor upstairs. You will enter through the front door of our house on the second floor, then down the stairs to your room and bath. You are welcome upstairs any time, and also on the upper deck when weather permits.
A breakfast of homemade granola, with fresh fruit and yogurt or milk is available in the morning. Along with your choice of tea, coffee, espresso or a steamy latte, and juice. Please let us know if you are vegan and we will provide a non-dairy choice.
Our home is located in a neighborhood with large parcels, so you will enjoy views of mountains and trees, not neighbors.
We are dog friendly hosts, and charge an additional $10/night for your furry companions. We do offer dog sitting when we are available for $25/day. Please check out our house rules for additional information on bringing your pet.
Our dog, Kizzy is a sweet shy girl who will greet you with a big bark. She enjoys the company of other friendly dogs.
Please be aware that we do not offer kitchen privileges, but you are welcome to bring in prepared food to eat at the dining room table or on the main deck weather permitting.
While we do not offer full kitchen use, we would like to make your stay here as enjoyable as possible. You are welcome to bring prepared food back to the house and eat in the dining room or on the main deck. You may use the microwave, and we have hot water on the stove.
Interaction with Guests
We enjoy meeting our guests and chatting with them. We also respect guests privacy, and allow you to direct us as to how much interaction you want with us.
If you decide to book with us or make an inquiry, please tell us something about yourself , and who is coming with you, and your plans for your time in the area. Knowing something about each other helps both of us to feel comfortable, and helps us to make your visit more enjoyable.
We encourage guests to inquire and ask questions. However, we do get many inquires and some people put out multiple inquires when looking for a place to stay, so it just becomes impossible to hold our room from an inquiry. For this reason we accept reservation requests on a first come first served basis.
We are in a quiet neighborhood with large parcels. There is open forest practically out the front door for snow shoeing, cross country skiing, hiking, running and biking. We are always glad to share our knowledge of the area to help you get the most out of your visit.

Thanks for helping us save energy and the planet (and the bears).
We loved our stay with Suzi and Jack. They are fantastic hosts, and their home is beautiful in a quiet neighborhood with great views. Everything was put together with care, from the room to breakfast. Thanks for a peaceful retreat for the night!
I had such a fantastic time staying with Suzi & Jack! They were incredibly warm and accommodating. Their home is beautiful and cozy, and the bedroom was exactly what I needed; the bed was super comfortable and there was a pretty view of their backyard and the mountains beyond. They spent time with me while I ate my dinner, and we had a wonderful conversation. The next morning, they gave me yogurt and some of their DELICIOUS homemade granola, and they gave me excellent suggests of places to check out and routes to take to get there; they were full of knowledge and advice about the area. I only wish I could have stayed longer! I had to hit the road to continue my trip, but I am planning on coming back and hopefully spending more time talking to them and exploring beautiful Truckee!
Suzi and Jack were great hosts. They have a beautiful home, that was close to everything we wanted to do. The oatmeal and latte were an added bonus! We will definitely stay there again. Thanks for everything.
Suzy and Jax place is at the end of a road, top of a hill, secluded, quiet, nice views. They were lovely and welcoming and Jack makes a fabulous latte in the morning!
We had a wonderful stay again with Suzi and Jack - as always, Suzi and Jack were warm and inviting, and the home was cozy and clean as ever! This time I brought along my brother to stay in their loft, and he had a great time as well; it was great that Suzi and Jack were flexible enough to let us add another person late in the game, so we didn't have to change our reservations. Jack went skiing with us on Sunday and showed us a few tips that definitely made a big difference! Although ski season may be ending, we look forward to visiting Suzi and Jack next year!
My boyfriend and I visited Truckee for the first time to enjoy the snow and give our Samoyed puppy a snowy experience (they're very dog friendly!), and we absolutely loved the time we got to spend here with Suzi and Jack. It was the perfect location for what we wanted to do, with plenty of hiking, it was a great and quiet spot to experience the snow and mountainous landscape. As everyone has mentioned before, Suzi and Jack offer the BEST breakfast with yummy lattes. They were also extremely hospitable hosts. They helped us Tahoe first-timers with putting on snow chains and getting snow gear (we were horrendously unequipped for the cold) and were happy to suggest things to do around the area. Even on the drive up to Tahoe, they kept in contact with us to make sure we made it safely up the icy roads. Their home is beautiful and the room you get is very cozy and comfortable. I'd definitely recommend this place, and we'd love to come back the next time we head up to Tahoe!
Suzi and Jack were very nice and welcoming. I really enjoyed their home and getting acquainted. The room is clean, and quiet, and because it's downstairs with its own bathroom, private! Jack probably made me one of the best coffee latte's I've ever had, thank you! I hope to go back.
We have been hosting on Airbnb since 2011. It has given us the opportunity to meet some very nice and interesting people. We love sharing our home and this beautiful area in which we live. We can help you with any questions you may have. We are familiar with good hiking spots, ski areas, dining options and more.
We also respect your privacy, and allow you to direct us as to how much interaction you want with us.
We are long time Truckee residents, 30 plus years. We are avid hikers and back packers, and like to kayak on the lakes too. Jack enjoys fly fishing. We would be glad to direct you to some of our favorite lakes, streams and hikes.
Jack was a ski instructor for 15 years, 9 yrs at Alpine Meadows, but we ski for fun now days. We both also enjoy cross country skiing and snow shoeing, and ice skating when the conditions are right.
Although we haven't done it lately we both really enjoy scuba diving.
Jack has a wood shop and builds cabinets and furniture. Suzi has a floral studio on our property and loves to garden. You may catch her doing flowers for a wedding in the Tahoe area.
We also like relaxing and sipping lattes in the morning, and wine in the evening, on our deck in the summer and by the fire in Winter. Come up and join us!
