Interaction with Guests
We enjoy meeting our guests and chatting with them. We also respect guests privacy, and allow you to direct us as to how much interaction you want with us.
If you decide to book with us or make an inquiry, please tell us something about yourself , and who is coming with you, and your plans for your time in the area. Knowing something about each other helps both of us to feel comfortable, and helps us to make your visit more enjoyable.
We encourage guests to inquire and ask questions. However, we do get many inquires and some people put out multiple inquires when looking for a place to stay, so it just becomes impossible to hold our room from an inquiry. For this reason we accept reservation requests on a first come first served basis.
We are in a quiet neighborhood with large parcels. There is open forest practically out the front door for snow shoeing, cross country skiing, hiking, running and biking. We are always glad to share our knowledge of the area to help you get the most out of your visit.

Thanks for helping us save energy and the planet (and the bears).
Suzi and Jack offered us a truly pleasant and memorable stay! The room is large, comfortable and cozy and includes great little amenities like robes and extra socks. The bathroom is also fully stocked. My favorite part of the stay was sitting on their back patio, looking out over the forest and enjoying Suzi's homemade granola with fruit and yogurt for breakfast while being visited by the neighborhood chipmunks and birds. It's a perfect getaway (less than 2 hours from Sacramento) and we had everything we needed for our overnight. S & J were the kindest hosts--we had a great conversation with them over breakfast and learned a lot about the Truckee area. They're accommodating and hospitable, and I would definitely recommend this spot any season of the year.
Wow! We loved this place. Incredible home, spectacular woodworking by Jack. And what a warm and friendly couple. Loved our stay there.
We were greeted and welcomed by both Suzi and
Jack. They invited us both in their beautiful home and and treated like family. The room was great with a beautiful view of the trees and distance mountains. Each morning we were treated to a great breakfast with home made granola and Jacks wonderful lattes. We will be going back this winter for another stay.
Suzi and Jack were so amazing. I felt so comfortable, cozy and welcome! The place was so beautiful and had a lovely cabin like feel. It was very clean and tidy and they even had homemade granola with fantastic coffee for me in the morning.
I highly highly suggest this place to anyone looking to go to Tahoe. They are so awesome.
Thank you Suzi and Jack!
My stay at Suzi and Jack's house was about as ideal as it gets. Its a short drive (20 minutes) to North Lake Tahoe. Close enough to be convenient, far enough to offer the illusion that I wasn't just another of the hundreds of tourists; that my trip was something special and unique. They are tucked in the hills of Truckee, a town definitely worth a stop off in: idyllic, historic.
The house itself feels incredibly remote. The view from their balcony is just trees and mountains and birds. Serene. The hosts themselves are very welcoming, know all the cool spots in the area to check out during the gaps in the vacation plan, and make some amazing granola.
I highly recommend!
We had a wonderful stay with Jack & Suzi. They are perfect hosts - open, friendly, generous, so welcoming and relaxed. They are a mine of information, and guided us perfectly regarding the many fantastic hikes in the area. They were ever helpful, ensuring for example that our soaked hiking boots were dry by the following morning. We had some great chats over glasses of wine and, coming from England, our conversations gave us an insight into many aspects of local American life that one doesn't often have as a visitor.
Their lovely house (that Jack built) is on the outskirts of Truckee (less than 10 mins. by car to downtown) in a forested, very quiet residential neighbourhood. Our room was lovely - immaculately clean, nicely furnished, very comfortable bed, a jug of filtered water, a little private deck, nice bathroom with all necessary toiletries. Breakfast was delicious - orange juice, fresh fruit, yoghurt and homemade granola with huge mugs of excellent coffee, courtesy of maestro Jack! Thank you Suzi and Jack - we loved our stay with you, recommend you highly and will definitely be back next time we are in the area.
This is a great place! My mom and I had an awesome time here. Suzi prepared breakfast for us. It was very sweet. The house is so clean. and I didn't need to drive on the hill too much to get here. Great locations. birds are everywhere. Suzi and Jax are both very nice person. we loved it here.
About the Host, Suzi & Jack
We have been hosting on Airbnb since 2011. It has given us the opportunity to meet some very nice and interesting people. We love sharing our home and this beautiful area in which we live. We can help you with any questions you may have. We are familiar with good hiking spots, ski areas, dining options and more.
We also respect your privacy, and allow you to direct us as to how much interaction you want with us.
We are long time Truckee residents, 30 plus years. We are avid hikers and back packers, and like to kayak on the lakes too. Jack enjoys fly fishing. We would be glad to direct you to some of our favorite lakes, streams and hikes.
Jack was a ski instructor for 15 years, 9 yrs at Alpine Meadows, but we ski for fun now days. We both also enjoy cross country skiing and snow shoeing, and ice skating when the conditions are right.
Although we haven't done it lately we both really enjoy scuba diving.
Jack has a wood shop and builds cabinets and furniture. Suzi has a floral studio on our property and loves to garden. You may catch her doing flowers for a wedding in the Tahoe area.
We also like relaxing and sipping lattes in the morning, and wine in the evening, on our deck in the summer and by the fire in Winter. Come up and join us!
