Welcome to Casa Marina!
The property consists of a house with 2 separate efficiency apartments, one sleeps up to 4 people the other one 2.
Each efficiency has its own little kitchen facility, with a stove, a microwave, a toaster and a coffee maker. Two couples or a small group of friends can rent both units in combination, thus getting exclusive use of the pool and barbeque.
Casa Marina is located in a gated residential community, very quiet and secluded and completely immersed in nature. The beach is breathtaking and only a few meters away.
While on vacation in Playa Grande there's a lot you can do, surf is the most popular activity, even if you can't surf you can give it a try , there are several experienced instructors. You can walk the 4km long beach and, in season you can go see the giant Leatherback turtles as they lay their eggs. There are also day trips you can take, sportfishing, sailing, scubadiving and hiking the volcano and a lot more than that!
you can just take it easy and relax by the pool or at the beach and do absolutely nothing...
Casa Marina was a great place to stay. Marina was an amazing host, she was extremely helpful and made sure we had what we needed to be comfortable our whole stay in Playa Grande. She helped us plan our excursions and arranged Tim to pick us up from the airport, he was great as well. We really appreciated the location, the beaches were much better here than those in tamarindo. It is close to tamarindo but far enough away so the beaches were almost empty in playa Grande. If we come back to costa Rica we would definatly stay in playa Grande and at marinas place.
We throughly enjoyed our stay in Playa Grande and Marina was a great source of information for where to head for fun and adventure.
The acomadations were clean, neat and everything we needed and the hospitality made us feel very welcome. Thank you for a fun filled week, we got to watch a Sea Hawk Super Bowl victory at an outdoor bar on a flat screen which made it even more special.
Really enjoyed staying at Casa Marina. Location is short walk to beach and good base for day trips. Close to hiking, scuba diving, beginner's surf, and Tamarindo night life. Marina and Frank are great hosts, very warm and accommodating, they know the country really well, and made my first-time CR visit much easier.
This is the perfect place to stay if you want simple yet comfortable accommodations right by the beach. It is a 3 minute walk to a really beautiful white-sand beach that is very quiet and unpopulated. In our 7 days in Costa Rica, it was by far the best beach we visited. The nice thing about the location is that you don't feel as though you are staying in a tourist hub, but you are also not so far removed that you can't get to a more populated, touristy area (like Tamarindo, which is a 20 minute drive or ferry away) to do some of the activities that these areas afford, like sailing, surfing, and shopping.
*Beware of your (website hidden) Maps guide in getting here. On two separate occasions, it took us on shortcuts off of the paved, main street, and both instances ended with a dead-end at a large, uncrossable pool of water. I would recommend getting directions from the host beforehand.
Not only was the guest house beautiful and perfect for 2 people, Marina was a joy to work with! She took care of absolutely everything from arranging airport transportation, to booking our zip lining and sailing day trips.
We had such an amazing time just hanging out on the beach, by the pool, or taking the $3 water taxi from Bula Bula (the nearby Playa Grande hotel) over to Tamarindo for the day. We visited the local store, stocked up on food, and cooked breakfast in the kitchenette every morning.
We are so sad to be home and back to reality and cannot wait to visit Playa Grande again!
One of the best beaches in Costa Rica and a great place to stay, with parking for our car, pool, and close to the beach. Thanks Marina!
Playa Grande is a beautiful place for a vacation away from it all! Our first trip to Costa Rica, it was a good place to start, where we experienced the nature, beaches - and surfing !
Marina' s home is within a gated community off the amazingly private beaches of playa grande, surrounded by gardens, wildlife and a few small local businesses, making it very peaceful. We spent alot of time in her pool relaxing, which we had to ourselves the entire week.
Upon arriving in Liberia, our luggage was lost. Marina helped us work every thing out, letting us borrow her phone, drive us up the road and even offered clothing. She was extremely helpful the entire length of our trip, offering us tips and advice from her knowledge of the area. She suggested we rent a car, rather than paying in full, for an excursion. We ended up saving money by doing so and had a car to experience the area ourselves. The lively town of tamarindo is just down the beach, where you can take a 1$ taxi boat across the river, which we did quite a few times. We loved experiencing the peaceful side of playa grande, renting bikes and taking surf lessons at frijoles locos local surf shop (amazing instructor there by the way), but only right next door to lots of restos/bars in tamarindo.
Marina is amazing!!! You will love it there :)
Great location, can be done without a car. Marina got us great bike rentals at a good price. The fish guy, fruit & veggie guy and the transport connections she arranged all made our stay especially delightful and easy. We appreciated her gererous information which was extremely valuable to us,and we recommend Casa Marina to anyone wanting a great value for a goode price.Thank you Marina! Peggy & Jimi Hill
At casa marina the feeling of being home gently settles on you. As we traveled 10 hrs, we would have accepted anything, but the security, privacy, & shear beauty is why you come here. Only 1 block to nearly a private beach yet a$1 water taxi to the bustle of Tamarindo. Several places to eat near by, as many or few activities as well. The estuary tour is a must where the ocean drives salt water 5 km inland with the 8 foot tidal change. Parrots, snowy egrets, tricolor egrets blue, herons, monkeys, crocodiles all thrive. You must have a drink at BulaBula-exceptional ! Marina was invisible yet available for any incidental. She aims to please.
The duty-free liquor store at the airport will save you 40% if you want liquor. We stupidly bought a bottle of Crown, left it in the rental car shuttle realizing only later that we'd forgotten it & figured "oh we'll somebody will enjoy it". Marina called the rental place, they acknowledged & as part of a rental delivery in nearby (email hidden)ought us our Crown a couple days later. There is weekly delivery of: fresh fish, vegetables, fine bread & pastry (right in front of the house). The quarters are ample with many nice touches, and a warm laid back style made for 2. We will return for certain. Tony & Yvette. Albuquerque
