About this listing
Welcome to Casa Marina!
The property consists of a house with 2 separate efficiency apartments, one sleeps up to 4 people the other one 2.
Each efficiency has its own little kitchen facility, with a stove, a microwave, a toaster and a coffee maker. Two couples or a small group of friends can rent both units in combination, thus getting exclusive use of the pool and barbeque.
Casa Marina is located in a gated residential community, very quiet and secluded and completely immersed in nature. The beach is breathtaking and only a few meters away.
While on vacation in Playa Grande there's a lot you can do, surf is the most popular activity, even if you can't surf you can give it a try , there are several experienced instructors. You can walk the 4km long beach and, in season you can go see the giant Leatherback turtles as they lay their eggs. There are also day trips you can take, sportfishing, sailing, scubadiving and hiking the volcano and a lot more than that!
you can just take it easy and relax by the pool or at the beach and do absolutely nothing...
Casa Marina was everything promised. For those driving themselves use google maps it will always get you to Casa Marina from wherever you are coming from . Be aware most of the roads in the area including the one entering the community are off road pebbled terrain. Are hostess welcomed us when we arrived as well as our pet which are welcome which was a plus for us. We rented the single room which was more than enough for my cousin and I, one full size bed, bathroom, kitchenette & refrigerator. We didn't get a chance to use the pool since we usually left every morning early, but I would recommend a late night swim if possible. Playa grande is only a 7min walk away from Casa Marina, we missed the entrance the first time but not by much. This place is very secluded so if your looking for a off the beaten path, non-touristy area to relax and get away this is the place for you. It is only a 15-30min drive to the more populated area of Playa Tamarindo, but we recommend most of all Playa Conchal ( recommended by Marina). All in all great experience.
Marina's quiet sanctuary was exactly as described. We only had a couple days in Playa Grande, but could've easily stayed a week or 2. The room had everything we needed- comfy bed, frosty AC, large fridge, well equipped kitchen (fully stocked with everything we needed). We loved that there are 2 different racks for surfboards, and that the shower had a drying rack for our wet bathing suits and baggies. The courtyard and pool were so beautiful! And the location is perfect- a short walk to a gorgeous beach through Howler monkey-occupied trees. Marina was a kind and gracious host, and gave us fantastic advice and tips- she knows the area so well! Because of her, we discovered the 500 colones water taxi to Tamarindo, and the delicious Casa Del Pueblo (best restaurant in Playa Grande!). Thank you so much for a wonderful finale for our Costa Rica adventure! We hope to see you again on our next trip!! :)
The place was perfect! Quiet and tranquil, and just a few minute walk to Playa Grande. Marina was very kind and accommodating, and made my girlfriend and I feel very welcome. We stayed two weeks, and it was the perfect spot to explore, with the river estuary not too far away (boat tours available), wildlife, and lots of areas near by to explore, including the very unique and secluded, Playa Carbon! The little area has everything you need if you wanted to make food for yourself, or a few nice restaurants with great food. Surfing was great as well! Thanks so much for a memorable vacation Marina!
The neighborhood of Playa Grande is definitely a hidden gem! Casa Marina was in an ideal location, just a 2 minute walk from the beach and about an hour drive from the airport. (We stayed here for the last two nights of our trip so we had a rental car, but you could definitely just take a taxi from the airport and get everywhere by foot.) The pool outside was great to lounge at, or to refresh after the beach, and the landscaping was pretty. The room itself wasn't that great and had a strange odor, but I think it was fair given the reasonable price for a place so close to the water. Along the beach (all well within walking distance) is a quaint road with a few restaurants and a surf lesson/rental place (boards are $20/day, and with a 2 hour lesson it's just $40). My boyfriend had a great surf lesson at sunset and we ended up hanging out with the instructors later because they were so chill and it's such a small and friendly town. Also, we had many great meals at Mar Azul--get the breakfast tacos, iced coffee, or mahi mahi sandwich!! Marina was kind enough to do our laundry so we wouldn't have to pack up our dirty clothes from a week of adventures, which we really appreciated!
Pura vida :)

Everything was fabulous! So close to the beach. I felt safe and comfortable. Marina was very helpful and courteous. It's pretty remote and quiet, great spot to unwind and chill. The room was just like the photo. Pool and property are very well maintain. I would recommend this spot 100%! Loved it.
We had a great experience at Marina's place! The pool and patio were hands down one of our favorite places to spend hot afternoons when the beach was too hot. It felt like your own private getaway, with beautiful plants and flowers. The beach was an easy 3 minute walk on a nice quiet dirt road, and the beach itself was never crowded. A beautiful, huge beach mostly to yourself. We had a wonderful time, and hope to return to Costa Rica in the future.
Marina's place was one of the best rentals I have ever been in. Awesome location, great amenities and fantastic host. 5/5 stars!

Came to Costa Rica for a Christmas vacation, and came back again and again , until I finally decided to move permanently. I love the tropical climate and the laid back lifestyle.
