This open air bungalow in the jungle was A-mazing. We loved every minute of it. We thought we'd be hot and humid in the middle of the rainforest, but after a day or so we didn't use our fans or our mosquito nets. My very favorite part was the thrilling howler monkeys in the middle of the night. It was incredible to be there among the sounds of the jungle. We awakened to hundreds of bird songs and the swoosh of monkeys in the trees. The beach is close by, and one of our favorite parts of the visit was Dragon, the beautiful black dog who adopted us. He slept in our bungalow every night, took us on trail walks, stayed by our side. We loved him and miss him. This is a really unique place to stay. Just to note that if you drive we recommend a 4x4 since the roads approaching the bungalow are unimproved. In all, it absolutely made our vacation extraordinary.

Wonderful place in the Jungle riverside and a short stroll to beach. Unique open air cabins. Bugs were not a problem, at night had mosquito netting over bed. Kate and dragon were wonderful hosts. Place is much nicer than pictures. Grounds are beautiful and full of wildlife.

We absolutely loved our stay at this property. We will definitely return. It is gorgeously rustic and the property is RIGHT across from the main surf break, which is a wonderful wave. The only problem is that we kinda got bumped out of the Creekside Bungalow for some "VIPs" that were coming into town. While immediately I was a little bummed, Angelica and Felipe made it right by offering breakfast and dinner every day for the length of our stay. We thought that they would bring us very basic food, but we were ok with that. We were very wrong. They went above and beyond to make us amazing meals. Pan seared tuna, grilled steak, quiche breakfast, fresh fruit, coffee waiting for us after (URL HIDDEN) was amazing. They definitely made up for the mistake, which we really appreciated. As far as the property goes, it is unbelievable. We were only there for four nights and yet we saw four kinds of monkeys (there are only four in Costa Rica), scarlet macaws, green parrots, coatis, tailless whip scorpions, and a posion dart frog...and this is all on the property itself. We were woken up by howler monkeys almost every morning around 4am, but we love it and that's what we came for. Backwash and Pan Dulce are right across the road and there aren't many houses closer. The property is mainly solar with restricted access to electricity at night, so charge your devices during the day. The listing said wireless, but we asked and they said there was no wireless. Not sure, but we didn't really miss it at all. Be warned, it is rustic in the sense that there are no walls and nothing separates you from the wild except for a mosquito screen. This was actually what we came for so it was a positive, not a negative aspect. If you are squeamish about bugs or freak out over open spaces and a lack of privacy (no walls), don't come. But if you want to experience the jungle and the beach in a way that few people ever will, this is the pace for you. Angelica and Felipe are extremely friendly and are willing to help out with everything. Great people.

Absolute Prime location for surf, beach, and ultimate Osa/Matapalo experience! We so very much enjoyed our stay. The bungalow is perfect for a cozy getaway. Angelica and Felipe were unfortunately out of town but had their friend and worker Michael there and available if we ever needed anything. He was great. Would definitely go back to the bungalow and am already recommending it to friends. Gracias Angelica y Felipe

Our stay at the bungalow was one of the most magical experiences we've ever had. I think we saw more wildlife while we were there than anywhere else. When the other reviewers say "monkey highway" they mean it! We had a parrot land in the bathroom (which is open air) while we were cooking and all he wanted to do was talk with us. The bed was comfortable, the construction beautiful, it came with a very happy and playful dog, Dragon, who walked with us to the beach each time and sat and watched our things (beware though, apparently he is a shoe magician and can make them disappear! Ha). We loved every minute of our stay here and even extended our stay by a day! There is some fans and lights at night that seem to run off a battery but there was no refrigeration. We had a small miscommunication prior to coming and showed up without ice (which they assumed we were bringing) for the cooler that was to be our fridge. 24hrs later we had the cooler full, so we were thankful that we had brought a small cooler of our own since we had caught fish that day to cook for our time there! You stay across from the best swimming beach... But if you are looking to use their surfboards, don't bother. They were all destroyed at the time of me writing. i was looking forward to surfing in Pan Dulce but it will have to wait for another time. We are already scheming on how to get back there! Glancing at its best!!! Haha

Cabo Matapalo is beautiful and this bungalow is in a perfect location to enjoy three different beaches and sits next to a creek. The caretakers, Aaron and Valentina were so friendly and helpful and we can't say enough about how great they were. This is a great place to relax and enjoy the beauty and sounds of Osa.

We really liked this bungalow. It's clean, has a basic kitchenette, and it's one of the closest places to stay to pan dulce, a very good wave. The setup of the bungalow is really nice- it's open air but the beds are arranged with a wall in between, which affords a degree of privacy and insulation if anyone snores, etc. Angelica wasn't here this particular stay, but we were well taken care of by Aaron and Jose, who were around to fix things and answer questions. This bungalow is basically inside Corcovado National Park. It's a heavy duty rainforest and you see tons of animal life all the time. It's awesome. One thing is that although the bungalow was listed as having Wifi, that wasn't true. Wifi exists on the property but you have to go up and hang out at the host's house. It's only powered sometimes and even when it is, we found it nearly unusable because it was so slow. That being said, you're in the jungle, and this isn't a bungalow that caters to luxury. It's just nice, clean, safe and pretty cheap. That will be enough for most people. We had a great time.
