Leimouna is a Moroccan Dar in the city of Meknes. Its enchanting atmosphere guarantees you an unusual and unforgettable stay between the walls of the Medina. If you want to escape the tourist side of the destination, you will appreciate the house.

The space

Loving Morocco, we looked for an unusual and authentic place.
We have restored the house using only traditional materials in order to preserve its authenticity while giving priority to comfort.

Guest access

We can give you the telephone number of a friend who speaks French very well who can come to welcome you at the airport of Fes and make you visit the region.

Interaction with guests

For sleeping, we have 2 double beds (on the first floor in the rooms) and it is possible to accommodate 4 additional passengers in the Moroccan living room equipped for this purpose.
Each room has its bathroom with shower and toilet and for the additional guests, there is a bathroom with toilet and washbasin on the ground floor.

Other things to note

There is the possibility of ordering traditional Moroccan dishes for a reasonable price prepared by an unbeatable cook.

Samir was very helpful. He met us at the train station in Meknes and helped us get taxis to the medina and walked us to the house. During the whole time we were there he helped us find taxis, places, etc. at good prices. The listing was accurate and the house was beautiful, had plenty of pillows/bedding, towels, toilet paper, hair dryers, everything. Samir also brought us very fairly priced and very delicious tajines for one night of our stay.

We LOVED staying at Catherine and Dominique's place. It's a gorgeous open harem-style house that has the feel of a sultan's palace. Samir is a wonderful host who was sure to check in with us even after we had departed to make sure that everything went smoothly. The only con to the house was the noise on the street until early in the morning, but that can't be avoided inside the medina walls!

It's a beautiful big riad in the Medina but not well kept: dirt and dead insects on the floor, dust on the furniture, dead houseplants. The beds are hard and uncomfortable. We arrived about 6PM, after a long day travel by bus and train. Samir met us at the mosque and took us to the riad. He brought a worker and said he needed to do a "three minute" plumbing repair upstairs. They were in and out of our living space until 10PM. They left the roof door open while they worked and let a cat in the house (unbeknownst to us) which got into the remainder of a roast chicken we had for dinner. Samir and his friend returned the next day to paint and repair the rooftop patio, another all day job and one that disturbed our privacy. We returned to the apartment in the afternoon to find the front door open, our things insecure, with Samir and the other guy on the roof. I strongly recommend to the owners that any renovations to the property be done when there are no guests.

Hello Joseph, We were very saddened to hear about your dissapointing stay. You are absolutely right in saying that the renovations should not have taken place during your trip, and we are very sorry about the disturbance. We took your comment seriously and informed Samir about the matter, in order to avoid the same situation in the future. Nonetheless, we hope you were still able to enjoy Meknes and it’s Medina. Thank you for your sharing your experience as each comment allows us to improve the Riad and our guests’ stay. Kind regards, Catherine and Dominique

We were very happy with our stay at Catherine's home in Meknes. The location in the heart of the Medina provided great opportunities to explore the old town, and we enjoyed spending time on the rooftop patio. We were a little chilly in the house, but it was December and therefore expected. Visitors should know the house is very hard to find without someone to guide you to it, and this service was thoughtfully provided to us. Knowledge of French was essential, at least for someone in the party, in order to navigate about the town and get questions answered.

We were welcomed by Samir and shown to our charming riad, with lots of room. The TV and air conditioning were not working well. But nevertheless, we really enjoyed having our two rooms with double beds with ensuite bathrooms. In the medina, I think I would have been happy to miss Fez, except for the leaherworks. I found Mekness plenty stimulating! we went to Volubilis - interesting archaeological site - no shade, so go early morning (it was closed at 6 pm).

We loved our stay in the beautiful house of Catherine & Dominique. It was well equiped and our kids loved the spacious Riad to play. Location in the middle of the Medina was perfect. The beds were of a good size, but too hard for our taste. Unfortunately, the WIFI was not functioning during our stay. Overall, a wonderful place to stay!
