The Space

Situated in a marine preserve, our home offers you access to seaside tidal ponds, lagoons and reefs full of brightly colored fish and marine life. We are proud to offer you OCEANSIDE with NO ADDITIONAL (website hidden) for a weeks stay.

On the second level we occupy one bedroom and have two available for guests. The bedrooms are
oversized as is the shared bath.

The fully furnished kitchen is available for your cooking pleasure. The kitchen is open to the grand dining area and living room. The 1100 sq ft lanai with an open beam ceiling has chairs for cocktail hours and a wooden dining table set.
Feel free to watch a movie on the new 37in TV while snuggled onto a comfy 20ft L-shaped Tommy Bahama couch.

Our entire home features cathedral ceilings and is lined in aromatic western red cedar. It smells great at all times.

Our quiet and safe neighborhood contains as many full-time homes as it does vacation rentals. People walk and bicycle the streets day and night.

As the village of Pahoa is ten miles uphill, with its stores and restaurants, we encourage you to bring and cook your own meals. The nearest restaurant lies within an eco-resort six oceanfront miles away.

The bus runs twice daily stopping 8 blocks away.

We have bicycles, body boards, and snorkeling gear.

Come on down and relax to the sound of the oceans gently rolling waves.

See you soon.

Please be sure to have a complete profile with photo and self-description before inquiring about our vacation rental. This insures safety for not only us but our guests as well. Mahalo!

  • Staying at Jeannie's was a really cool experience. The place is very clean and it inspires an ecological life style. We liked very much the location because it is rather remote, very peaceful and short walking distance to really nice ocean pools with a lot of nice fish and colourful coral.
The interaction with Jeannie was also really good, it was like visiting a good friend, she had a lot of valuable tips and information available to help us arrange our visit to the island.

  • Jeannie and Amy were great hosts. Always helpful with lots of information about the area. Room and house were great. Snorkeling a short walk down the road was out of this world. Couldn't have asked for more. Thank you.

  • We loved staying with Jeannie and Amy! We were only there for one night, but they made us feel relaxed and welcome. We had a late airplane arrival, but they were super accommodating and let us check in late. The room was clean and bed was comfortable. We really wished that we could have stayed longer. :) Would definitely recommend. Thanks so much Jeannie and Amy!

  • Firstly, Jeannie & Amy were superb hosts! They offered a wealth of information on all the Hawaiian islands which was a bonus. We enjoyed their company and now consider them to be life long friends. Our only regret is that we didn't have more time with them.

The house itself is exactly as they have described in the listing. Close to fantastic snorkelling and truly a quiet, relaxing experience (if you don't mind the singing of the coqui tree frogs throughout the night). Jeannie's home is very cozy and welcoming. The airiness of the home kept it cool both day and night, no a/c needed, which we really appreciated! The bed & pillows were comfy and supportive, towels were line dry fresh. The bathroom is shared but we never had to wait or had any issues with sharing. The house is in a jungle like environment ("Inside is outside") so you can't be afraid of sharing your space with a little wild life. Beautiful geckos & large spiders are your neighbours but they stick to themselves & keep the bugs away!

While you're here you must stock up on the local fruit!! Papaya, bananas, mangosteen are all so inexpensive and delicious that we recommend hitting up the farmers market to stock up for your trip. Of all the islands we travelled (Maui, Kauai, Oahu) here had the best selection & price. The main town of Pahoa is just a short drive away and if you're looking for good eats, try the Mexican restaurant!! Best Mexican food we've had in a while (had to go back for seconds).

All in all, we definitely recommend staying with Jeannie & Amy for great company, beautiful snorkelling, relaxing and eating well! Thanks to the both of you and we look forward to seeing you again in the future.

  • Thanks for a great stay Jeannie!
The room and house were great. The tide pools were fantastic snorkeling, heaps of fish and we probably would have missed that whole area of the island if we hadn't stayed with you.
    Thanks Craig & Gudrun
