A fabulous apartment located in a tranquil neighborhood with sweeping views of Lake Victoria. This is an Oasis from the hustle and bustle of Kampala. The apartment has three bedrooms, and I am the only person occupying it.
It is a very open floor plan, which is unique for homes in Uganda.
It's easy to get around Kampala by private taxi or boda boda (motorcycle taxi). The other option is by matatu (shared taxi). There is sufficient parking for one more car as well.
The location is one of the safest in the city, as it is at the very top of Muyenga Hill on a street that dead ends (read: no random people walking by), and my neighbors have police security because of their political status. We have our own security guard as well. The apartment is also very quiet as it is above all the hustle and bustle of the city. It's my oasis!
Interaction with Guests
Definitely, we will interact. I'm a laid back and organized person that keeps the apartment very clean. There is not a TV in the apartment, so it tends to usually be on the quieter side. I'm open to conversing, but I also respect others space as they wish.
Guest expectations are as follows: Respectful, organized, clean, and friendly. No smoking. No pets. And no parties!
Just the right place for my business trip. Smart clean and central and amazingly quiet. Just the birdsong outside. Great view of the Lake. Good bedroom and shower room. Friendly host. Only 20 min to town by car - NB no shops on doorstep itself (trip needed). Could not have been better
Tyler's appartement is very spacious and comfortable and in a safe location. Although it is about 15-20 minutes from the downtown area when not too much traffic, it is easy to travel back and forth by taxi (or bodaboda if you are more adventurous). Tyler was very responsive and always ready to provide useful advices on Kampala or other places in Uganda.
Tyler was very flexible. Even though he was not in Kampala, he still made his home available for me. Unfortunately I could only stay 1 night though I originally intended to stay longer. The room and flat were nice, but I think that the term "luxurious" is overselling it a bit. Maybe it was because I was there on my own without Tyler's much praised hosting, and maybe it is because this is the first time that I make use of airbnb, but the whole experience wasn't what I expected.
Too bad that you weren't able to stay longer so that we could meet! I'll admit that the word "luxurious" is a relative term when it comes to a comparison of Ugandan apartments to South African apartments. For the Ugandan market, most would agree that this apartment is quite nice. I hope the rest of your stay in Kampala was good!
Cool spot and cool host! Perfect for a single traveller. Amazing view over Lake Victoria. Loved that Tyler organised transport from the airport and was SUPER helpful with all requests.
This place is a bit hard to find so expect some time in figuring out transport and directions. It's a 20 minute drive from the city centre so arrange transport in advance. Tyler's a busy guy so make sure to lock him down and ask many questions!!
Amazing spot with large, comfy bedroom. Tyler was an excellent host. Balcony with gorgeous view of the lake in safe, quiet area of Kampala. Loved staying here! Will definitely stay here next time I come through Uganda.
Tyler was an excellent host. Communication was prompt, clear, and courteous. For example, Tyler had to make a last minute trip out of town during my stay, so he sent me a message explaining the situation and even arranged for his taxi driver to pick me up at the airport. He checked in while he was away, and was genuinely concerned about the quality of my stay. Tyler's apartment is spacious, airy, and light-filled with a fantastic view.
Quiet neighborhood. Great view. Apartment is as advertised. Tyler is a true entrepreneur and a great guy.

I am an American entrepreneur living in Kampala, Uganda. I love to learn, I love adventures, and I seek to live life fully. Most of the time, you will find me quietly working or reading. Yet, most people that meet me incorrectly label me as an extrovert. This may be because I also love being social. I enjoy deep conversations and equally deep friendships.
