Staying at Gary's apartment in Bray was fantastic! It was just as he described. My daughter and I felt welcomed and comfortable at his place. Our room was very nice, well-appointed with great furniture, lots of closet space, power adapter, hair dryer and a comfy bed.
Gary was so friendly and easy going. He really made us feel at ease with both his great conversation and the way he gave us space.
Bray was a fantastic location for us and we found adventure easy and close by. Gary provided so many helpful suggestions and directions to nearby places of interest, even a printed out Guide of his own making.
We had a lovely time with Gary during the first 4 days of our holiday to Ireland!
Gary has a beautiful apartment in a quiet place and the bedroom is spacious and comfortable. He went out of his way to make us feel at home and had loads of suggestions which helped us make the most of our stay in Bray (we especially loved going to Greystones and doing the cliff walk, back to Bray, eating lunch at the fabulous "Happy Pear" organic restaurant before we walked). Gary was attentive to detail and really made us feel that nothing was too much trouble.
Highly recommend staying in this delightful location if you want a break from Dublin; you can still get into the city easily and quickly by train. We used our 3-day Leap Visitors cards (bought at the airport) which get you to Bray/Greystones, and can be used on all the buses as well. The train ride is spectacular.
Thanks very much Gary for a wonderful stay!
Gary was a great host - friendly, fun and uncomplicated. There was no problem to stay with our little daughter - he even got a baby cot for us! Platform Pizza in Bray was a great recommendation from Gary as well. We will be back!
The review section doesn't allow enough words to convey just how great our experience was, staying in Bray with Gary, but I'll try to do it justice. First, you'll be staying in a lovely, calm and quiet (also spotlessly clean and comfortable) apartment just a VERY short walk to everything in this welcoming seaside village. Want to catch the bus to tour the famous Powerscourt Gardens? It stops right at the corner - maybe a 30-second walk from the apartment. Interested in checking out one of the best pubs in Ireland? The Harbour Bar is a two-minute walk down the road. (Yes, every Irish accommodation claims to have the best pub nearby but this time it's true!) Feel like exploring any of the charming towns along the coast? Buy a pass for the DART for the day from the station just a 3-4 minute walk away and hop on and off to your heart's content. Or use the DART to head up to Dublin for a day in the city and just come back to Bray to stroll along the beach at sunset, and fall asleep in the mill to the sounds of the wind in the trees, below the rolling hills...
My daughter and I only had a couple of nights to stay with Gary - a side trip to Ireland after her year at university in London had come to an end - but we both wished it could have been longer. He is an intelligent and scrupulously thoughtful host. Also: kind, helpful, informative, patient, friendly, cheerful - and very generous.
The evening we arrived, we were exhausted (and one of us was still pretty jet-lagged) after a long day of travelling by rail and ferry from London. Gary actually picked us up from the DART station (which really is just a four-minute walk away) so that we wouldn't have to stress about finding his place. And after we'd dropped our backpacks and had a quick tour of his fantastic apartment, he took us out again for a quick tour of the town & helped us find a great place for dinner. He was always on hand when we needed advice but never intruded and gave us our space. This is a private room with shared bath scenario but the truth is that Gary makes you welcome to use the entire apartment - kitchen, living and dining area - and supplies everything you might need, from electrical adaptors to breakfast cereals and coffee!
It was a truly great experience and I have no hesitation in recommending a stay with Gary and his Airbnb in Bray to anyone.
The flat is ideally located, away from Dublin but close enough to visit the city while resting at the seaside at the end of the day. It's nice, bright, very clean. You'll have a big room with a good bed, Gary lets you use the kitchen and the living room. He's the most attentive host you could wish, giving time, advice, showing you around, putting candles in the bathroom if you want to have a bath ;-). My flight was delayed, I arrived passed 1 am and he waited for me patiently. There's no other place like that, each stay is a great memory and I always feel taken good care of. Thanks again Gary
I would recommend staying here. Lovely location, very nice apartment, great room and a good host! I had a very comfortable stay and the location was perfect. Bray is well worth a visit, beautiful seafront, fab restaurants and no better host than Gary to fill you in on on it all!

About the Host, Gary
I have been hosting on AirBNB for just over a year and it has been a great experience.
I'm a fun loving creative guy who is a very easygoing. I have recently moved back to Ireland after many years living abroad in London, Sydney and Asia.
Travelling is a passion, South East Asia is probably a favourite but I have travelled across Australia, NZ, Indonesia, Europe & more. One of my more unusual experiences ended up with me living with Buddhist monks for a month outside Bangkok, loads of stories along the way!
I love running, cycling, painting, the odd pint of Guinness, music, cooking, playing a little bit of guitar (don't worry, I don't play when I have guests!), Ted Talks, staying curious about the world.
Please note (To avoid confusion: The following refers to Bray Listing and not Townhouse by Canal as that is for whole apartment)
There are plenty or great routes in the area for walking, hiking, running, cycling or just sitting on top of a mountain with beautiful views and feeling blissfully relaxed! I feel blessed to live in such a great part of the world, there is an abundance of nature on the doorstep but Dublin is only 30 mins by train along a stunning coastline. Back off the mountains, there are great pubs, restaurants, characters, cafes, music to be heard and so much more.
Thai cooking is my speciality, I'm happy for you to sample my cooking if you're staying for a couple of days and I am around.
I can help you out with advice on great places to go whether it be pubs, restaurants or activities such as hiking, running, cycling, kayaking, surfing and some of the hidden gems off the beaten track.
My flatmate Alessandra is Italian, she's funny, makes a mean coffee, she's a bit of a legend!
