Hi there. We have a lovely detached tastefully modernised and decorated house 50 metres from open countryside and located in a walking distance for shops and train station.
Upstairs there are:
master bedroom with an on-suite bathroom;
2 single bedrooms;
Downstairs there is an open plan lounge with dining area, large kitchen, conservatory with library and a downstairs cloakroom.
Outside there is parking available at the front of the house for 2 cars. At the back there is a lovely garden with a garden lodge/summerhouse. Summerhouse has a lounge, covered decking area, two raised areas with beds, sauna and a well equipped gym. We have 6 friendly chickens and two friendly resident cats. Looking after the animals is optional for you, but it is very easy and good fun too, especially if you have children. Harpenden is an affluent town and there is plenty to do around the area; St. Albans historic town with its famous Abbey and Roman Verulamium, Hatfield House, home of Elizabeth I, Rothchild Zoological collection at Tring, Woburn Abbey and safari park, Whipsnade Zoo, Luton Hoo Estate. Harpenden has a lovely selection of shops on its High Street. London train connections are very swift with London St.Pancras international station being only about 30 - 40 min train journey. All in all it a perfect location for any occasion. House is situated in 20 min walk to town and the train station.
You will have access to all the mentioned facilities, unless specified otherwise.
Interaction with Guests
We are always happy to interact with our guests as we really enjoy what we do.
House is situated in a walking distance to Harpenden Town, Rothamstead International Research station, Childwickbury Manor, In a short drive there is St Alban's City, Luton Hoo, Knebworth House, Hatfield House, University of Hertfordshire, Brocket Hall, Woburn Abbey, Whipsnade Zoo, Bernard Shaw's house museum, Tring Zoological Museum, Luton airport. Harpenden is blessed with a large number of restaurants, cafes and historic pubs. There is a good choice of supermarkets such as M&S, Waitrose, Sainsbury's, Coop.
There some buses passing just at the end of our road, but they are not very frequent. Harpenden train station is in about 20 min walk. There is a bus connection to St. Albans.
Other Things to Note
Harpenden town has train line cutting through it. We have a train line passing not far from the house, so you may experience some noise from trains. It is not that bad at all, but we thought it is worth mentioning. The trains are going during the night and we are blessed with total silence as we have no roads near by, so it is very calm and quiet during the night.
Great experience dealing with Svetlana - very communicative and helpful. Four of our members of staff stayed and found it to be a lovely house, comfortable and a good location.
we had a great stay with Swetlana. She and John are great people and really nice. They picked us up even though we are 8 people, with 2 cars. Showed us around and took us grocery shopping the first day. They put extra in it which makes it even more enjoyable. The house is really nice with everything you need and some extra quality such as sauna. it was a pleasure staying in your house and getting to know you X x x
