About This Listing
Central location in Denver. Walk or bike everywhere. Enjoy the park out the back door and the Botanical Gardens 6 blocks away. You'll dig this place.
We welcome you all to stay in our condo in the heart of Cheesman Park/Capital Hill Denver. It is a 1 bedroom/1 bath fully equipped condo located in an amazing neighborhood in the heart of Denver.
The condo is equipped with couches, kitchen table, 32 inch flat screen HD tv, dvd player, and wireless internet. It is located on the 5th floor and has a balcony from which you can see some of the Rocky Mountains and Denver's skyline. Hand-made super comfortable hammock we picked up from Guatemala on a trip that is made for naps. Also has two patio chairs on the balcony as well. Heat and air conditioning is available for every guest and completely controlled in the unit by each guest. Coin operated washer/dryer located on same floor as condo.
The bathroom has a shower and bathtub, all soap and clean towels are provided for each guest. The kitchen has a fully functional oven/stove, microwave, fridge/freezer, toaster, and coffee maker (with free coffee). Ask us about borrowing a bicycle!
The building is on the edge of a huge park in the city, literally a 5 second walk from the back door. Great place to take walks in the morning or at sunset when the mountains light up with red. The building is a quiet place, so no loud music or parties please. We are usually available the entire time our guests are here for questions, problems, or advice. We love giving advice on where to go, what to do, etc.
It is a residential neighborhood that has a city vibe to it. It is completely safe to walk around and you can find every shop possible within a 15 minute walk from the condo. You definitely do NOT need a car if you stay here. The following are just a few of the highlights around the condo.
-restaurants/bars---less than 5 min. walk to numerous great places! (sushi, Greek, Mexican, Italian, etc. etc.)
-Whole Foods/King Soopers (grocery store)---15 min walk
-16th street mall (heart of downtown Denver)---30 min walk
-Botanical Gardens- 10 min. walk
-Bus stop that will take you the 10 min. bus ride to heart of downtown is 200 feet away.
Parking is available on the street (harder to find after 6pm each night). Also, we have picked up guests at the airport before for $40 (conversation on the ride is free) :-) . A taxi will run $50-60, and we are more than happy to provide you with details on public buses (admittedly not the easiest) or shuttle ideas.
We promise we will do all that we can to make your stay enjoyable and help you fall in love with Denver and its neighborhoods. We look forward to hearing from you!
This next part is semi-important, we really don't want to just rent to anyone. It's an extra hobby so we don't feel pressured to just have anyone stay. We really prefer if our guests have references from previous stays, etc. We understand that everyone needs a first chance, so if you don't have references, please give us as much information as possible about you so we feel like we kind of know you, and therefore trust you. Thanks everyone
Interaction with Guests
We will be a 15 minute drive away from the condo so if you need anything at all, we are there for you.
Please no pets or loud music/activity at night. We try to be the most respectful neighbors possible and hope that our guests understand that as well. If you are thinking you might be entertaining people at the condo, or having a lot of people in and out, this probably isn't the building for you.
Jared was an excellent host, very proactive in his communications and responsive to my questions. The condo was as depicted in the photos. The area is very nice for walking - in addition to the lovely park behind the building, the condo is within blocks of three historic districts with some very nice residential architecture. Buses to downtown stop nearby and operate frequently.
The place was exactly as advertised. No surprises and clean. Jared was very responsive and a nice guy. I would stay again.
I used the place as I was at a conference in the convention center.
On the cheap, the bus will get you to the center in 20' or so.
Ubers/Lyft were running about $6. I ended up using these most of the time.
Jared was a great host. After an initial screening process, he accepted our offer and gave us lots of recommendations on places to visit/eat. The apartment is cozy, has everything you need, is in a great location by the park and a short walk to several restaurants, the post office, and drugstore. The shower is amazing! Denver is beautiful and this was a great place to stay while we explored.
The apartment was great - clean and comfortable, and in a great location. Jared was very responsive and proactive about making sure things were going well and even offered us a ride to the airport afterwards. We'd absolutely stay here again.
Jared welcomed us right on time, helped carry our luggage into the condo, and showed us around the condo. He is very pleasant and personable. Things were pretty much as advertised, although we assumed from the "Comfortable Condo on the Park" title that we would be able to see the park from our balcony. It wasn't 'til the last day that we realized that the tiny piece of lawn we saw by craning our necks over the balcony railing actually was a piece of the park. We thought it was somebody's back yard.
Denver traffic is horrendous. The major problem with the location is the great difficulty of finding a place to park. We were able to park within two blocks, however for someone with a handicap that is a problem. Half-way through our stay we happened upon a parking spot almost in front of the building and we decided to not move the car again.
Everything in the condo worked except for the microwave oven, which was frustrating when we wanted to heat water for coffee. We were able to use the stove to heat water though. One benefit of this condo is that it is very quiet, unlike a hotel. The laundry facility is just down the hall as well and is not expensive to use.
Jared is young, and isn't aware of the needs of older folk. The tub/shower doesn't have a grab bar, which for someone with balance problems (like me) is dangerous and worrisome. A grab bar by the toilet would help as well. Another problem was that the building heat had not been turned on as yet, so the condo was always cold to us. Again, older folk need a warmer environment. I believe that situation will change when the building heat is turned on.
In summary, we were satisfied with the condo, and pleased with Jared's helpfulness. Whenever we had a question he responded quickly. We may well engage this condo the next time we're in Denver. Thank you, Jared.
Once Jared decided he would rent to me, all of our communications went smoothly. His wife actually met us at the condo when we arrived early and showed us around.
The neighborhood of Cheesman Park is awesome . The condo doesn't actually have a view of the park but it is nice to have a balcony to sit on and enjoy the cool evenings. Of course, the park is also just outside the back door. Overall, the condo was a great place for my 3 week vacation in Denver. I would definitely consider renting it again.
Jared and Jen were great hosts from the moment I sent a question about the listing. They were prompt at sending information and answering questions. Jared sent a detailed list of nearby eateries... We checked out several! Three blocks from an all night diner and Walgreens! One block from Wyman's pizza/pub and Lik's ice cream shop. The bus comes to the corner for a quick 15 minute ride downtown. We had a great trip and would recommend this condo to anyone! Loved the cool evenings on the patio :)
About the Host, Jared
My wife (Jenn) and I love to travel. We have been all over the world, and just recently returned from a month-long honeymoon to the Philippines. Before that we were teachers in Asia for a year and have backpacked all over Asia, Central America, and Europe.
We are currently planning a round-the-world trip for a year, we love to trade stories so please ask away and share away!
We are both teachers and work in lower-income schools but love every minute of it. We love music, the mountains, and meeting new folks. We look forward to hosting people from around the country and world. :)
