The Space

We humbly welcome you all to stay in our condo in the heart of Cheesman Park/Capital Hill Denver. It is a 1 bedroom/1 bath fully equipped condo located in an amazing neighborhood in the heart of Denver.

The condo is equipped with couches, kitchen table, 32 inch flat screen HD tv, dvd player, and wireless internet. It is located on the 5th floor and has a balcony from which you can see some of the Rocky Mountains and Denver's skyline. Hand-made super comfortable hammock we picked up from Guatemala on a trip that is made for naps. Also has two patio chairs on the balcony as well. Heat and air conditioning is available for every guest and completely controlled in the unit by each guest. Coin operated washer/dryer located on same floor as condo.

The bathroom has a shower and bathtub, all soap and clean towels are provided for each guest. The kitchen has a fully functional oven/stove, microwave, fridge/freezer, toaster, and coffee maker (with free coffee). Ask us about borrowing a bicycle!

The building is on the edge of a huge park in the city, literally a 5 second walk from the back door. Great place to take walks in the morning or at sunset when the mountains light up with red. The building is a quiet place, so no loud music or parties please. We are usually available the entire time our guests are here for questions, problems, or advice. We love giving advice on where to go, what to do, etc.

It is a residential neighborhood that has a city vibe to it. It is completely safe to walk around and you can find every shop possible within a 15 minute walk from the condo. You definitely do NOT need a car if you stay here. The following are just a few of the highlights around the condo.

-restaurants/bars---less than 5 min. walk to numerous great places! (sushi, Greek, Mexican, Italian, etc. etc.)
-Whole Foods/King Soopers (grocery store)---15 min walk
-16th street mall (heart of downtown Denver)---30 min walk
-Botanical Gardens- 10 min. walk
-Bus stop that will take you the 10 min. bus ride to heart of downtown is 200 feet away.

Parking is available on the street (harder to find after 6pm each night). Also, we have picked up guests at the airport before for $40 (conversation on the ride is free) :-) . A taxi will run $50-60, and we are more than happy to provide you with details on public buses (admittedly not the easiest) or shuttle ideas.

We promise we will do all that we can to make your stay enjoyable and help you fall in love with Denver and its neighborhoods. We look forward to hearing from you!

This next part is semi-important, we really don't want to just rent to anyone. It's an extra hobby so we don't feel pressured to just have anyone stay. We really prefer if our guests have references from previous stays, etc. We understand that everyone needs a first chance, so if you don't have references, please give us as much information as possible about you so we feel like we kind of know you, and therefore trust you. Thanks everyone

  • Jared and Jen were great hosts from the moment I sent a question about the listing. They were prompt at sending information and answering questions. Jared sent a detailed list of nearby eateries... We checked out several! Three blocks from an all night diner and Walgreens! One block from Wyman's pizza/pub and Lik's ice cream shop. The bus comes to the corner for a quick 15 minute ride downtown. We had a great trip and would recommend this condo to anyone! Loved the cool evenings on the patio :)

  • We found this a very well suited condo/apartment to use during our recent 4 day stay in Denver. We did 2.5 days in city neighborhoods and 1.5 days outside of Denver.

Foremost, you will have a thoughtful and attentive host. Although we did not meet personally, communications were excellent from start to finish. The Capital Hill neighborhood is simply an ideal base of operations if you are going to see the city. The king size bed was very comfortable and the balcony allowed us to make the most of a warm weekend. The level of quiet and privacy inside the unit was amazing. Cheesman Park is a great walk and there are several lovely walkable neighborhoods nearby. It feels very safe. The kitchen and bathroom facilities were clean and up to date.

I would personally not hesitate to recommend or return to this wonderful condo. In order to make this a meaningful review however, I will also offer a more critical side. The balcony is not private from an adjoining building; even with that it is a huge + and the hammock is awesome. During our stay, we walked quite a bit and also “b-cycled”, but also got a lot of benefit from having a rental car. We had phenomenal success/luck with street side parallel parking. However, it is a bit scary with a rental car and you have some small risk of being “parked in” if you have a business matter.

As mentioned by others, no cable TV. (WiFi worked fine.) If you need/want that, this is probably not a good fit. If you are getting away from that, and want a great value where it counts (bed comfort, location, quietude, full one bedroom apt. + balcony, trustworthy/attentive owner relationship), then you really can’t go wrong here.

  • My fiance and I stayed at Jared's condo for two weeks when we first moved to Denver. It was comfortable, easy, and right on beautiful Cheesman park. The neighborhood is perfect, and Jared was tremendously responsive to all of our requests - he even brought over a cheese grater when I suggested that it would be nice to have one. The condo was comfortable, clean, and had everything we needed. Jared was a wonderful host.

  • Jared was the perfect host. Shared all the necessary info about the unit, the building, and the neighborhood; communicated well throughout the booking process; and went above and beyond to accommodate my shifting arrival and departure times.

The apartment reflected Jared's peerless hospitality. Large, clean, and comfortable. Safe and convenient location right next to the park. I loved it. Absolutely recommended!

  • Jared was a great host with a lovely place! It was clean, quiet, and the neighborhood was so friendly. It was like having a second home in Denver. Having a full kitchen to use was great and he even left plenty of coffee for the coffee maker. Everything about the apartment was as advertised, so I certainly recommend it as a place to stay in Denver.
The bus to downtown is on the corner, be advised you need exact change ($2.25).

  • Great condo! A MUCH better deal than any of the hotels in the area. Super clean when we checked in. Sheets and towels were clean and fresh. Bed and living room furniture were in great condition and comfortable. Everything worked well in the kitchen and bathroom. WiFi internet was FAST. I was able to work all week and then use Netflix at night with no issues. TV is modern so it accepts HDMI inputs (if you have any devices that have HDMI out like Xbox or Android).

Jared met us when we arrived in Denver and walked us through everything at the condo. No issues at all.

Location is great. Quiet at night. A nice park next door to walk around in the mornings. Only a few blocks away from Colfax Ave and the No. 15 bus line right into downtown. Bus is $2.25 cash only. We walked it a few times to downtown and it only took around 15-20 minutes to do the walk. Taxi rides to and from downtown should be around $8-$10 before tip. If you've never been to Denver, Colfax Ave can get a little "interesting" at night, so you may want to cab it late night, but it's not so bad.

Whole Foods was a 15 minute walk. There's a good 24-hour greasy spoon diner called Pete's Kitchen that's on 13th and Colfax. We went there a few times and had a solid breakfast. Voodoo Donuts is about 10 blocks away, but we didn't bother waiting in the 1 hour lines. The "1UP Colfax" is about 15 blocks away and it'(email hidden) with lots of old pinball and arcade games (we went there a few times). Across the street from 1UP is an EXCELLENT NY-Style pizza joint called Slice Works. So GOOD if you love NY pizza.

The one minuscule issue is that the condo only gets free "digital" antenna TV and it doesn't work very well (except for all of the Spanish and religious channels for some reason). If you have a Netflix or Hulu account, then you can just hook your device via WiFi and HDMI to the TV (like we did), but if you're planning on catching any major network shows or news, you're going to be disappointed as the service is spotty at best. Hopefully while you're in Denver, you're going to be too busy enjoying the city to care about staying in and watching TV all day.

We will definitely come back to this condo if it's available the next time we're in Denver.

  • Jared and Jenn's place was really clean and in a great location. We easily walked to bars/restaurants/coffee shops and there is a giant park right in their backyard, great for runs/walks in the morning. Jared was easy to get a hold of and e-mailed us through the week to make sure everything was good. Highly recommend if you are in Denver and need a clean spot in a great location.

  • Jared's place was great! Comfy, clean apartment, with everything I needed. Even better: it was just a few blocks from a fantastic 24 hour diner and a great hipster coffeeshop. Jared couldn't have been more friendly or accommodating. Highly recommended.

  • Jared and Jenn's place was just as described in the post and pictures. The place was clean, with plenty of room for two people. They are literally on the corner of Cheeseman park and are walking distance to several bars and restaurants. They were very flexible to work with on picking up and dropping off keys, and stayed in connect throughout the stay to make sure things were going well. We had no issue parking near their place. We would certainly stay there again.

My wife (Jenn) and I love to travel. We have been all over the world, and just recently returned from a month-long honeymoon to the Philippines. Before that we were teachers in Asia for a year and have backpacked all over Asia, Central America, and Europe. We are currently planning a round-the-world trip for a year, we love to trade stories so please ask away and share away! We are both teachers and work in lower-income schools but love every minute of it. We love music, the mountains, and meeting new folks. We look forward to hosting people from around the country and world. :)
