The Space

A sweet apartment in a perfect location for your San Francisco Vacation.
This is a quiet and large studio apartment with a garden, one block from Haight and Ashbury. Lovely for a couple or couple with a child or two. There is a queen size bed and the couch can be pulled out into a single bed, and we supply an additional feather-mattress for extra comfort if you prefer a soft mattress. 2 couples (4 adults) is only do-able if you are comfortable with very little privacy -- in which case we provide a queen size air mattress.

If you wish to rent the garage for your car, $25 more a night, just let us know. There is street parking and you will easily find a spot unless it is a Friday evening or Saturday or during the music festivals.

Note that a previous complaint about noisy tenants upstairs is no longer a problem-- new upstairs tenants with no shoes and no laundry at night. NEW JANUARY 15th 2014-- while replacing the floors in the kitchen upstairs we added insulation. The apartment is very quiet.

The studio is a colorful open space with a living area, a sleeping area, a kitchenette, a reading area and desk, a large bathroom with claw foot tub. When you arrive there will be some fresh fruit on the table, a booklet we've made about the neighborhood and, of course, fresh sheets and luxurious fluffy towels. Unlike many SF apartments, this one is warm in the winter and comfortably cool in the summer.

The TV has an antenna that receives local channels and is also set up for instant streaming via roku (netflix, hulu plus, etc.). There is fast wireless internet and an internet hub for direct connection. You can use our laundry. There is room for bikes and we can store your luggage if you are off for a short trip on your last day.

The Kitchenette is fully stocked with a toaster oven, hot plate, slow cooker, pots and pans, microwave, coffee maker and grinder, electric kettle, dishes, glasses, and utensils. We provide fresh linens, fluffy towels, and extra sheets if you choose to use the futon.

My partner and I both love San Francisco and would be happy to help advise you on a great SF vacation. We can help you get set up for walking tours, motorcycle tours, bike rentals, hikes and let you know where to get the best foods of SF.
For BABIES and younger CHILDREN we can provide a crib (big enough for toddlers) and toys and guest passes to the Cal Academy of Science.

The location of this studio is unbeatable! It’s in the middle of everything and there’s lots of public transportation for fast transit to anywhere in the city. You have access to MUNI 6, MUNI 71, MUNI 43, MUNI 33, MUNI 37, all within a block and the N-Judah is just a few blocks away.

It’s within walking distance of Golden Gate Park, museums, a block from a wonderful family grocery store with organic fruit and vegetables and delish prepared foods, lots of great cafes, a brewery pub Magnolia at the corner, Ameoba records, Cal Academy of Sciences, and the De Young Museum.

Note: BLUE BOTTLE COFFEE is a block away at Haight Street Market-- BEST COFFEE!

It’s a 5 minute bus ride/ 10 minute walk to USF and UCSF. It’s only a 25 minute taxi ride from SFO, or 40 minute taxi from the Oakland airport.

  • We had a great time at Julia's place. The location is perfect and the studio is very charming and cozy. We couldn't have choose a better place to stay in San Francisco. I would definitely stay there again.

  • The following is my parents' review who stayed at Julia's for 2 weeks:

  • Julia's place is exactly as described. Charming & quirky in a perfect location.

  • Great place right off of Haight. Julia was a gracious host and provided us with fresh sheets and towels. Overall great experience!

  • We had a great stay at Julia's studio. The location was perfect as a home base to explore the city as a local, and avoid some of the tourist traps. Julia's restaurant recommendations were spot-on as well. We would definitely stay here again.

  • This is a cosy apartment, if a bit quirky. It is spotlessly clean, with useful amenities. The location could not be better - a few steps from Haight, with excellent public transport links. .

The apartment however is fairly dark, even with the lights on, and the nesting pigeons were quite noisy throughout the day and especially early in the morning.

Communication with Julia and her assistant was good- answered any questions promptly and we really appreciated being able to use her laundry!

    We had an enjoyable stay.

    Response from Julia:

Thanks Lauren! You were a great guest. Good news! Although you had the bad luck to be our guest at the same time that some pigeons chose our place for nesting (a first for us), we have solved the problem. There are no more pigeons in the light well.

  • Good size studio conveniently located with easy access to the Haight and Cole Valley neighborhoods, public transportation and shops.

  • We had a wonderful experience at Julia's apartment. The space is super-cozy and we felt at home immediately.

The location is amazing - right off Haight street and there was lots of street parking available.

The bed is comfortable and there's a nice tub for baths and showers.

We brought our small dog Stark and were able to cook a few meals, visit local parks and museums, and overall had a great trip.
