About this listing
Our 100 year old historic one bedroom adobe casita has been newly renovated, but retains its Santa Fe charm! We're in a quiet neighborhood in the heart of the Railyard district, an easy walk to the farmers' market and the Santa Fe plaza.
This historic casita has solid adobe walls, wall nichos and other traditional New Mexico features. It has been renovated to let in plenty of light, so it feels spacious and bright. Wisteria foliage shades the bedroom window and you'll wake up to the sound of birdsong in the morning.
There are hardwood floors throughout. The kitchen is fully equipped with delicious new granite counters, as well as a gas stove and oven, microwave, toaster, coffee maker, and double sink. The bathroom is brand-new; and there is a comfortable living room with sofas and an easy chair to lounge on.
We can easily accommodate 3 people - 2 in the bedroom and one on a futon couch in the living room. The casita is about 600 sq ft in size.
There is a sunny patio area with chairs and a table, for morning coffee or simply soaking up our New Mexico sun. Winter is beautiful here, with most days sunny and crisp - you can often sit out in the middle of the day even in December and January!
Interaction with Guests
We live right next door to the casita, so look forward to meeting you and getting to know you a little! We can offer help in terms of outings, food, logistics, whatever you want. We do both work full-time, but we love to visit with our guests as much as we are able.
This is the best neighborhood in Santa Fe! Quiet residential neighborhood but right in the middle of everything. I walk to the farmers' market every week, and walk to shops, restaurants, cafes, museums, and the plaza for the myriad events taking place in Santa Fe.
There is easy access to several city bus lines, and the Railrunner commuter train station is 8 minutes walk from here. The airport shuttle also stops at the train station. To get out of town you do need a car, but we're located very near the main thoroughfare, so it's easy to hit the road. We have one off-street parking space.
Other Things to Note
This is a great space for a family with a small child. The bedroom doesn't share a wall with anyone else, and there's lots of room for crawling and toddling. The separate living room means that parents don't have to tiptoe around once baby is asleep!
Spring is a good time to visit Santa Fe. It's intensely sunny most days, but still cool; great weather for walking and hiking. May and June are usually the warmest and driest months - but since we're at 7,000 feet, it's rarely all that hot here!
No smoking inside, please. And no pets. Please be considerate of our neighbors who use the same driveway.
