  • Really enjoyed my 2 night stay at the cottage. A few things caught me off guard--but overall it was as advertised. The location on the lake is perfect. Fantastic community for walking with loads of outdoor opportunities nearby. The cabin is very tight--so not good for a family. However, the bed was extremely comfortable and the ample outdoor space was great. There is a house located behind it (which I wasn't aware of) which took away from the privacy a bit...but otherwise it had everything you would need for a nice escape from reality. I couldnt get the oven or the TV to work...but the water pressure in both sinks/shower did the trick and I brought my laptop to watch DVD. Greg was awesome to deal with and answered all my communications quickly. I liked the local guidebooks on the table for assistance on what to do in the area. Lake Willoughby is a MUST see for out of state people. Some great nearby hikes/trails in Burke, VT as well....and the folks couldnt have been nicer in each community I visited. I will definitely be going back again later this year. If you go...bring grille tools. I thought the cabin would have more things like that...but it really only has a few plates/bowls/utencils. If you plan on grilling bring a metal spatula etc. You also may want to bring additional lighting and a fan. It was extremely hot in the cabin during the day (even w/ the doors open). Beautiful at night.

  • Greg's little cabin is wonderful. It's just what we were looking for on our long weekend escape from the city. The cabin is quite nice and has anything you would need for the night. Even the CD that was left there to listen to was great. There's plenty of heat and hot water to make the night comfortable and the little living room is warm and cozy. We enjoyed sitting on the dock and overlooking the beautiful lake and I'm sure had we had more time it would have been great to go out on the provided kayaks. We also appreciated his openness to us bringing our dog along. Overall a lovely experience.

  • My girlfriend and I had an amazing time up at Shadow lake. Greg was very easy to deal with and very prompt in returning emails when booking the trip. Even while we were at the cottage he was great about getting back to us in a timely manner. And he was very pleasant about a few requests while staying there. The cottage has few amenities(though noted on Airbnb site) but is equipped with a kitchen to make a nice meal, gas BBQ and wifi (which we relied on to map out the next few days). There are brand new appliances and plenty of hot water. If visiting in the Fall/Winter months there is an electric heater but was inadequate once the temp dropped below 40º as there is zero insulation in the cabin. Come prepared and you'll be just fine.
The cottage was perfectly situated on the lake and just a short trip into Glover where you'll find the amazing Currier's General store and the Busy Bee Diner. Both family owned businesses with friendly staff and huge character. You'll find everything you need at the general store(and then some) and the Busy Bee is open year round and serves up delicious home cooked meals(breakfast, lunch and dinner).

Overall, this was a very pleasant trip.

  • Our late arrival was no problem for the cottage, we arrived at 9PM with no issues at all. The cottage is bare bones but has all the essential things you need for your stay (range, fridge, full bath, cooking equipment, outside gas grill) and a beautiful view. The cottage is heated by gas which to our surprise had gone out when we had arrived back to the cottage around 8PM on the next day. Being that it was a very chilly (40F) fall night we couldn't stay in the cottage so we contacted Greg immediately. He responded extremely quickly and was gracious enough to let us stay in his other property which was within very close proximity to the cottage and told us he would have someone out early next morning to have the problem fixed. It turned out not to be a quick fix and he allowed us to stay at his other property for the duration of our stay for no extra (website hidden) was great to see Greg go above and beyond to resolve the issue at hand to make sure we were comfortable. I highly recommend the cottage or any other properties he has available as he is a very understanding and courteous host.
