Location

Dubuque, Iowa, United States

The villa sits at the crest of Dubuque's most central bluff and serves as the crown jewel among a number of magnificent stately homes and "painted ladies" that cascade down the bluff below. The neighborhood served as a prime home building spot for Dubuque's most prominent citizens starting in the 1870's on through about 1930. The Loras College campus begins three blocks to the north, with the University of Dubuque and Clarke University both less that five minutes away. Also, both regional hospitals (Mercy and Unity Point-Finley) are reachable in 2-3 minutes.

Novelty Iron Works is located in the Historic downtown of beautiful Dubuque, Iowa. Our building originated in 1876 as "Novelty Iron," a plant which produced machinery for flour mills, steam engines, water wheels, and well drilling machines. Then in 1977 the building housed "Eagle Window and Door," for twenty- three years before they moved to a new location in October of 2000. In 2005 developer, Robert "Bob" Johnson purchased the building and participated in the master planning of the Millwork District Revitalization effort. Novelty Iron Works has been working ambitiously to transform 260,000 square feet, into a mixed-use commercial and residential complex. Our stylish uptown chic lofts and suites provide the comforts of home, while adding a little history and the beautiful scenery of the surrounding Dubuque area. Being located in historic downtown Dubuque, there are many restaurants, pubs, and other fun filled activities within walking distance!
