The space

Our quiet and beautifully appointed 2 bedroom apartment is blocks from all the action. In historic downtown, it is an easy walk to the water, the Old Market, galleries, restaurants, King St., MUSC, College of Charleston and most Spoleto venues.

Due to restrictive local laws we are currently only accepting monthly reservations--30 day minimum.

Smack in the middle of historic Charleston, we are only a few blocks to the city's finest attractions. Full of stately homes, our neighborhood also boasts two parks: Colonial Lake for walking and tennis (two blocks away) and Cannon Park (only one block away).

Decorated with local art, Spoleto posters, family treasures, a few antiques and a 64-key piano!

Hardwood floors throughout, ceiling fans, washer/dryer, Euro-style bathroom, 2 queen size beds, and little extras. This space is on the second floor, up a flight of stairs, so it is not wheelchair accessible.

Completely furnished kitchen including blender, microwave, toaster, quality pots and pans, completely equipped bar, etc.

The apartment is furnished with TV, basic cable, wifi, hairdryer and all expected supplies.

We will not accept reservations for more than 4. This is a quiet neighborhood and squeezing large numbers into this accommodation is not fair to neighbors. To this end, the apartment does not have a full size sofa. Only small love seats.

Guest access

Parking is a combination of off-street parking and on the street with a guest permit.

Fair warning: one thing that is hard to find in historic Charleston is a strong shower. Quaint as we may be, like so much of the peninsula, we have low water pressure. On the positive side, Charleston has some of the highest quality tap water in the country.

Interaction with guests

We are happy to offer recommendations to some of our favorite spots around town, but do not expect to see much of us at all. We live 10 minutes away. You will have plenty of privacy!

Other things to note

If you are bringing little ones under 6 years old let us know before you make your reservation. We can cover the white upholstery with slipcovers.

If you use self-tanning products or like to eat spaghetti in bed, we have special sheets. Just let us know so we can make the bed for you.

Loved Gregg & George's apartment. The location was perfect – right in the historic district of Charlestown. It was within walking distance to downtown, restaurants, shops and tourist sites. The apartment is comfortable and very clean with a well equipped kitchen. Good wifi. Gregg was quick to respond to any texts or requests, friendly and always helpful. We had a lovely stay.

The apartment was just perfect for our needs. It was well appointed and contained everything we needed. The bedding and towels were a very good quality and made it feel like a higher-end hotel. The apartment is not large, but both bedrooms had adequate space, including dresser and closet accommodations. The one bathroom is en-suite to both bedrooms via two doors and is a bit small, but certainly fine for one person at a time. The apartment is decorated in a cozy, comfortable manner which helped us feel right at home from the start. The artwork on the walls gave it an artsy vibe as many were posters from past Spoleto Performing Arts Festivals. All in all, a very nice feel. All communications with the owner were prompt and helpful. The location was great and walking to many places we wanted to go was easy. There were not a lot of restaurants in the immediate area, but a 6+ block walk did find us with plenty of choices. We liked this aspect as the neighborhood was very quiet. Daily passes for our car made on-street parking easy. Most days found us with a spot right out front of the apartment . . . never more than a few cars walk. I would absolutely recommend this little gem.

We had a wonderful stay at the Airbnb hosted by Gregg and George!!!! The location is fabulbous for walking to downtown, the Battery, or just leisurely strolling past the lovely homes in the surrounding neighborhoods! Their home is also in close proximity to 2 parks as well!! The home itself was a perfect size, and having a washer and dryer as well as a fully equipped kitchen was ideal:)) All bedding and linens were top notch! The property is so well cared for, and there is a definite display of southern hospitality!!

The apartment was beautiful, even better than described / the pictures. We had a bottle of wine upon arriving which was a great touch, and plenty of help from Olive while we were in the city. The location is amazing for getting to everything that Charleston has to offer and I would highly recommend this to anyone.

Our first Airbnb experience and it couldn't have been any better. The flat is beautifully decorated and well appointed. Olive was there for us every step of the way. Very conveniently located to all of the sites and tastes of historic Charleston. A nice bonus was the ability to return home with a suitcase full of CLEAN clothes thanks to the in house washer and dryer!

Gregg & George User Profile

A 7th generation Charlestonian, born and raised here, I am the proud descendent of William Gregg the state's first successful industrialist, who was against slavery. I also come from 2 famous Civil War figures: Gus Smythe a renowned soldier and General James Conner a real war hero.
Having also lived in Boston, DC, Santa Fe, San Francisco, Atlanta, Charlotte and Nashville I have some sense of the wonderful world outside of this paradise we call the Holy City.
My two careers have been law/banking and acupuncture. My husband George is an MD. We are both now retired -- a little early, but it works for us!
I look forward to meeting you!
