Experience the charm and comfort of a fully renovated Cape built in 1793. Five miles from Dartmouth College and Hanover N.H. in the beautiful Connecticut River Valley.
There is no end to the wonderful things to do in this area including The Hopkins Center for the Arts, Hood Museum, hiking, biking, swimming, kayaking, canoeing, and Farmer's markets featuring fresh local foods. We are only miles away from Vermont and the historic town of Woodstock, The Billings Museum, Quechee Gorge, Simon Pearce Glass Blowers and Resturant , world famous King Arthur Flour, and the Montshire Museum, one of the ten best science museums in the country.
I have lived here since 1981 and know the area well enough to be able to help plan a wonderful stay. Also have my own Gourmet Food Business for the past 30 years.
Sept. and Oct. known as fall foliage is the most popular time to visit our area. Winter and Summer are equally enjoyable and offer their own activities.
I look forward to sharing my special place with you.
Large sitting room w/far infared sauna (dry sauna)
All on second floor, very private.
Bedroom, Sitting room, Private Bathroom
I would be happy to share all I know about the area and help plan where to go and where to eat.
Phyllis, and people like her, are the reason Airbnb is so special. First of all, the photos don't really show what a wonderful space awaits here. It truly is a whole floor of space, a fabulously comfortable bed and bedroom with all careful and sweet amenities throughout; an infrared sauna that is heavenly; a living room; and a private bathroom. That's the space - but it is the human being at the helm that makes it superb.
Due to a snow storm, I booked to stay here 2 nights for some appointments at Dartmouth. When we arrived at the beginning of the snow falling, Phyllis generously directed us to park in her garage. She somehow had already carefully noted what one might want (or could possibly want) - she is a vibrant, warm, kind and generous soul who has opened her home and offers it's comforts and her genius hospitality to her guests. Without ever being cloying or invasive, Phyllis cared for us while we were in a stressful situation and made it feel like a retreat. We loved meeting her.
Breakfast was fantastic and way beyond what we expected. Phyllis knew we were gluten free (I had mentioned it when she gave some restaurant suggestions on the phone while booking) and provided us with gluten free options and the best eggs ever for breakfast - so kind and much appreciated. The coffee, as previous reviewers have said, was strong and perfect.
What a gem. I will be back.
You are amazing. What a beautiful review you took the time to write. It is so appreciated. I really get a lot out of helping make people feel comfortable and seeing to their needs if at all possible. I'm sure that you know what I mean being in a profession that cares and helps others towards better health and peace of mind. It is a gift to give of yourself in this way and always rewarding to open your heart to others. It also makes the world a better place to be.
One of my favorite teachers, Ram Dass teaches us to serve others.
Our experience cannot be fully described with words. Phyllis is a wonderful and caring human being, in addition to a great, great host. She really helped us in many ways, including going out of her way to provide a solving hand when we much need it.
The place is actually even nicer than what the pics show.
Phyllis is a wonderful host. It was like coming home every time we came back to her lovely house. The spectacular estate is off a quiet road, tucked away in the woods and it feels like a world unto itself.
As if the New Hampshire fall foliage for a Californian isn't sensational enough, Phyllis' beautiful home will put you over the top. It's
More than an airbnb. The entire second floor with its own entrance featuring a large bedroom, sitting room, sauna, and full bathroom is all yours. 5 acres of footpaths, ponds, and zen like screened in sitting rooms, bring you into a world that is far beyond what we could have imagined. If you are not in a rush, Phyllis will prepare you a healthy morning breakfast with robust coffee or tea. She's a terrific woman with a gift for hospitality unlike any other airbnb I've experienced. We were here for Dartmouth homecoming and a true homecoming it was.
Our stay at Phyllis's home was really wonderful. It was even more charming than I'd hoped! Phyllis was a gracious host, and a pleasure to talk to. She prepared us a lovely breakfast, made delicious coffee, and gave great restaurant recommendations. The house / room was spacious, comfortable and well decorated. I really can't speak highly enough of the whole experience, and will certainly book Fox Hollow Farm in future trips to New Hampshire.
My husband and I had a lovely stay at Phyllis's house. Her place was extremely warm and charming. The trees were simply beautiful. The location was perfect for us - a short drive to Hanover, VT. The review says "private room" but is is more like a separate apartment. You have your own mostly private entrance to the side of the house, and then your own staircase which goes to your bedroom. There is also a seating area, with a small fridge, and private bathroom all pretty much in your own separate wing of the house. Phyllis served us delicious local breakfasts and was very accommodating about our time table in the mornings. We would definitely recommend her place to anyone looking to stay in the area.
What a great first experience with airbnb this was! My daughter and I loved the house and host. Phyllis offered much information about the area and we are anxious to go back and stay with her.
As for the impression of the house on the website, I can easily say it was better than expected. We felt free to come and go as we pleased and never felt bothered.
