About this listing

Our brownstone apt has 2 entrances, bedroom has a foam, queen size bed, 20-30 mins by J train from JFK, surround sound+full HD projector w/playstation3 and dvd player, Netflix, Air Conditioning and plenty of natural lighting with TWO entrances!! We will be present.

The space

-We live on the entire 2nd floor of this classic Brooklyn BROWNSTONE in BED-STUY! IT IS SAFE!!! WE HAVE LIVED IN THIS PLACE since 2012! and REBECCA has been in this area for many more years! DO NOT WORRY! BROOKLYN HAS CHANGED OVER THE YEARS! Our street gets quiet.

-Bedroom has TWO windows, a QUEEN size FOAM mattress. I love it!

-Lamps, overhead lights and plenty of natural lighting!

-The hallway connects to this spare/storage room. We usually come through this way and take our shoes here to not track in any dirt. The living room has another entrance!

-Air Conditioning window unit in bedroom and living room. We also have fans if you need more air to cool down or the heater comes on automatically in the night. We cannot control it.

-We have a nice chocolate colored COUCH with chase section to lounge back. It also folds into a SOFA BED. It's comfy!

Guest access

-We have a cozy kitchen. Use any spices, dishes, shot glasses, dishes, utensils, magic bullet, brita pitcher for cold, clean water. We recycle so please put in the right bin. It's labeled on the wall.

-TOWELS, HAIR DRYER, Toilet paper. Use any of our soap and shampoo if you like! Bathroom entrance is from the living room

Interaction with guests

Depends! Whatever you want and depending on our schedule. We usually stay at my sister's. We also have a friend that could come by if necessary or if the guest wants to hang we will try to meet up if we are not working :)

We may be out of town and will have Rebecca's cousin, Daniel or another friend to let you in.

Other things to note

-keys are marked w/the numbers 1,2,3: one for 1st door, 2 for the 2nd door and 3 for both entrances to the apt. Silver key opens both doors to the living room and spare room.

-REMOTES on WALL: White remote for projector, Black remote is for the sound and you have to turn on the playstation/use its controller to watch anything. We have NETFLIX!

-WiFi: E63F0C

-We're also be happily glad to recommend on places to see, eat and go out! (especially if you're a vegetarian/vegan, Rebecca knows good places)

Check in time is flexible

-we expect whoever is staying in our place to treat it like how we treat it:
-please remove your shoes at the door,
-clean up after yourself,
-don't leave dishes in sink (we don't want any nyc pests!!!),
-Take out trash and recycle. We have bins and more blue bags for the recycling.

-Smoke out a window or go outside, please!

ALSO, THIS IS IMPORTANT: Our landlord's relatives live in this building, so if they ask PLEASE SAY that YOU ARE OUR FRIENDS, JUST VISITING NYC. We don't see them much so, it will be fine. Plus, they are very friendly people. Say hi if they see you!

-NO DRUGS. Alcohol is fine as long as you don't get crazy and trash the place or make a lot of noise.

You can play music during the day semi loud, just not passed, maybe 11pm! (Neighbors downstairs have kids) so also don't be too loud during the week.

Although Im an animal LOVER, No pets please (it's part of our lease and will leave hair anywhere UNLESS it's caged or a fish?

Please don't bring a bunch of people over! This is not a party house.

ALSO!!! I have a lot of Dia de los Muertos (Day of the dead) figurines and skulls. My family celebrates it since we are Mexican. It is a catholic holiday in which you honor your dead loved ones and celebrate life, so don't think we are into voodoo or anything. So hopefully you respect my stuff by not touching, stealing or judging me :) It's my culture!

Don't touch projector! We have easy remotes to use to turn on the projector which is hooked up to the playstation and surround sound. It can get really loud so try and turn down when it does.

Sorry for the rules. Be respectful, especially our neighbors. We love our home. Hope you will enjoy it and your stay in New York! It's a fun town!!

Very close to the J Train. Easy to get around and a few great places to eat around the area ( Peaches & Beso) ! Met Rebecca who was VERY kind and easy to talk to. She always responded to messages quickly. Also the living room has a very comfortable couch and awesome projector! The apartment is spacious! THANK YOU!

Response from Rebecca & James:
Sorry about the mosquitos, the net above the bed was for that-you just drape it around the bed. We drop off our laundry so I am going to talk to the worker asap!

This Airbnb was great for our last trip to NYC! The J train was very close, the neighborhood felt safe, the apartment had everything we needed, meeting James to get the keys and a quick tour went smoothly, and although we didn't meet Rebecca, she provided great suggestions for veg restaurants nearby! Thanks guys, I hope you two had a great trip also!

Received us on the stoop. Handed over two sets of keys, showed us how things worked, oriented us in a general way to the area, and then left us to make ourselves at home.

My son and I had wonderful stay at Rebecca and James' apartment. It was comfortable and we felt right at home. Thank goodness for the a/c because it was a hot week in NY, but a gorgeous one at that. The apartment came with everything we needed and the location right down the street from the subway was perfect. Every morning we enjoyed a healthy smoothie from the street stand along our way. Rebecca shared so much with us via email prior to our arrival. She gave us tips on everything that otherwise we may not have known about. We felt safe and secure in the friendly neighbourhood and were reassured that if ever we needed to contact either her or James they were readily available. The apartment was clean, funky, and truly reflects the creative people they are and ~ what an awesome tv projector they have!

Rebecca & James User Profile

I am Rebecca and I moved to NYC in 2008 from Houston, Texas. I'm of Mexican descent but born and raised in TEXAS from a big family. I am an preschool teacher here in Brooklyn.

My husband is James and we got married Friday the 13th! He is from England and this is our first apartment together.

We love our new place and we love traveling. We had roommates at our other place, but decided to get a new apartment. However, NYC-livin' can be expensive so we thought we'd join this site!

Rebecca - I love music! Punk rock, swing, 50's doo wop, rockabilly, ska, Industrial, hip hop, The Smiths! I love going to shows, 80s clubs, traveling, helping others and I love my job. I got my Bachelors in Early Childhood Education, a Masters in Special Education; kids are hilarious. In a way, it's a dream job (you get a lot of holidays and summers off !!) Therefore, I love to travel. I met my husband few years ago in Williamsburg, Brooklyn when he vacationed here (he's from Birmingham, England, but moved here from London).

James -loves all kinds of films, especially bands from England ha. He has a degree in Film, he enjoys reading, dive bars, the Libertines, Serge Gainsbourg, David Bowie, Oasis, Happy Mondays, the Stone Roses, and the Rolling Stones, he has traveled the world, is very fun, funny and friendly!

We love meeting new people!!
