  • Jennifer's place is a blast when she's there and an appealingly funky, well-priced hostel when she's not. The neighborhood is leafy and engaging, kind of like Fort Greene. It's a bit removed from the center of the city (for better or worse) which made it hard for me to explore between screenings and meetings. But I would have liked to...I'd happily stay there again.

  • Jen's place is very comfortable and Jen made sure I had everything I needed to feel at home. Her place is on a quiet street and close by to transit, shops and theatres. I had fun meeting her friend Bree and hanging out with Harvey too. Thanks Jen!

  • I had a great time staying with Jennifer and Harvey, As a new commer to Toronto, Jennifer was very welcoming and informative. Harvey made sure to keep me company while Jinnefer away. I strongly recommend staying there. Great company and location.

  • Jen is the best host you can have. She is very friendly and helpful but leave you alone as much if that's what you want. The entire house is charmingly decorated with antique style furniture. I really enjoyed every little piece of cute ornaments in my room. And such a comfy bed I slept in! The house is located a few blocks away from Toronto's most fun street and convenient to go anywhere.

  • Such fun with Jennifer and Harvey! Everything was perfect. Location quiet, easy access to transit, and restaurants within a few blocks. Would not hesitate to stay there next time I am in Toronto! :-D

  • this is the review you need to read. It is comprehensive and complete.

in no particular order I will handle every section of note.

    1. the neighborhood (Roncesvalles)
You stay in the greenest, leafiest, gardenest, most beautiful part of the city. I come from uptown New Orleans quite near the best garden district ever, and the Roncy gardens are no slouches. The architecture is beautiful, the district well-treed and kept. In short, it is BEAUTIFUL. Some people exaggerate, but in telling truth, you are 3 blocks from 2 of the main streetcar lines, buses and the subways they connect with. You are a 10 minute walk from the beach, fifteen to the pool on the beach. The neighborhood itself is described as the Polish neighborhood, which means the best Pierogies I've ever had, in my life. It is just off the city enough to be peaceful at night. I know people often say that and then the place is far away, but with Toronto's exceptional public transportation (most of which runs 24hrs) its not far at all. Did I mention they stop anywhere requested for females after dark? Every awesome bodega and thrift (or vintage) is there and the neighborhood is a MILLION percent safe. I am ex-military and, as I mention, new Orleanian, and never once did I feel the LEAST bit unsafe. This end of the city is still populated at night by shoppers and walkers and bikers and people out for the evening so safety was of 0 concern. To you, from wherever you may hail, it is like that part of your city which is very well kept and nice and beautiful yet somehow in the city. An oasis might be the word?

    2. the house
the house is great, its clean, its safe, its backyard is a beautiful, quiet place to unwind, kept well with plants and trees and such! the lodgings themselves were excellent and well appointed, nothing was wanting. The fridge was roomy and the kitchen openly available, not cramped, clean smelling and nice. Everything, in fact was nice and fresh there. I could not have been happier!

    3. the people
who is Jen? possibly the coolest person I have ever met, with a noble profession, a quick wit, an easy laugh, generally the kind of host that makes you feel at ease. informative, helpful, and all around awesome! who is Harvey? about the best dog there ever was. this section is for those of you who might not be sure about the prospect of a dog...Harvey is unlike any dog I have ever met. He mostly chills in the living room, stretched out like a big rug, hes sweet and kind, not rambunctious, hes friendly but never pushy, and if you sit on the back porch, he may want to join you, just as company, but he wont bug you. he's like a furry librarian, very sedate, pettably soft, and nice to a fault! My wife is a complete and total cat person and Harvery won her over instantly!

    3. the arrangement
cheap! excellent value! a pittance! sometimes you wonder that things of value must be expensive? there are those occasions where a deal comes along, where its simply a great person, in a great space, and its everything you could ask for.

this is that place. Even though I don't know you, and you don't know me, I can say this: Only a fool would stay anywhere else.

  • Jen is a great host and we felt as if we had our own home while visiting. She also has interesting other guests. The house is in a great part of Toronto, near fabulous inexpensive restaurants, we walked safely and happily all over. Jen was helpful in guiding us as to buses, and interesting places to visit. We could not have had a better stay!

  • Jennifer has a warm and lovely home and we really appreciated her flexibility. We arrived late in the evening and she was very accommodating. Thank you for your hospitality!

About
would say I'm very easy-going. I like a quiet house and love my animal (all animals really..) to bits. Oh and meeting new people from all over the world is pretty much fantastic!
