About this listing
***PLEASE READ before sending an inquiry!***
-Due to my variable schedule as a graduate student and nurse, I unfortunately cannot take bookings more than 4 months in advance.
-Requests for early luggage drop-off or holding luggage past noon on departure day may be permitted for a $10 fee. I am implementing this fee because it has become quite complicated to arrange early and late baggage requests while accommodating the needs of other guests who are arriving or departing on the same days. In some cases, accommodations for baggage may not be possible due to scheduling conflicts, and it will be the guests' responsibility to hold onto their luggage or find an alternate storage location until the designated check-in time or after the noon check-out time. Please ask me in advance if you expect you will need early baggage drop-off or late baggage pick-up so we can start planning early.
-Directions to my apartment from South Station, North Station, and Logan Airport are included in the confirmation email Airbnb sends when you book the apartment. Please read through the directions and contact me with any questions.
-Guests must have access to a cell phone that can send and receive calls and/or text messages in the United States. It is very important that we are able to reach one another to communicate any travel delays or changes in plans.
-Please read the parking section (below) carefully if you are planning to drive.
About the apartment:
My apartment includes two floors on the lowest level of an apartment complex, with neighbors in the two apartments above. The ground floor contains my main living areas. The floor below it contains your bedroom, your private bathroom, a living room, and a laundry area. This lower level has its own entrance, and I generally do not come downstairs except to do laundry, so we will cross paths rarely if at all during your stay. (I will tell you in advance if I expect to do laundry during your time here). Of course, I am nearby if you have questions, need directions or advice, or have any problems during your visit.
Your bedroom and living area is spacious and comfortable, featuring freshly-painted walls and wood/ceramic flooring. Furnishings include a full-sized bed, nightstand, a dresser, a 19" flat screen TV with Netflix and DVD player, and a fold-out loveseat that can serve as a second bed. There is also a mini fridge/freezer, a microwave for reheating leftovers or convenience meals, a toaster, an electric kettle, and a Keurig single-cup coffee maker. Tea and coffee is provided, as well as cups, paper plates, bowls, napkins, and plastic cutlery.
Your private bathroom is located down the hall from the bedroom area. It includes a shower, sink, toilet, and medicine cabinet. Toiletries such as soap, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and toothpaste are provided - no need to worry about liquids at the airport security! Towels and a hairdryer are provided for your use.
As a nursing student, my schedule is irregular - I am at class sometimes during the day, and have day and night shifts at local hospitals. Prior to your visit we will discuss a mutually convenient time for you to check in, or I will give you instructions to let yourselves in using a lock box.
When you arrive I will show you the space, answer any questions you may have, and help you plan your trip if desired. After that, you can come and go as you please.
Public transportation and walking is the best way to get around Boston! The apartment is located 3 minutes from Maverick station on the blue line of the MBTA subway (the T). It is also one stop away from the Airport station, so if you are flying into Logan you will have an easy route! In the other direction, it is one stop away from the Aquarium station in downtown Boston, so you will be in the center of the action in 5-10 minutes! Rides on the local subway and buses cost $2.65 each way, or you can purchase an unlimited day pass ($11) or weekly pass ($18).
Free street parking is available in front of the apartment on Webster Street. Overnight (6pm-8am) and on weekends and holidays, visitors may leave their cars for as long as they wish. On Monday-Friday between 8am and 6pm, these spots become two-hour parking (you will have to move your car to a new block every two hours, so this is not a good long-term parking plan). Street parking is easy to find during the day, but become scarce at night when neighborhood residents return from work. Note that street sweeping occurs on Thursdays and cars must be moved between 8am and noon to avoid being towed.
Long-Term Garage Parking:
The closest longer-term parking solution is Airport Valet & Park. Their drop-off location is 151 Liverpool Street in East Boston, and you must call them ahead of time to arrange a time to drop off/pick up the car. They park the car for you in a secure parking structure just outside downtown Boston and bring it back for you at pick-up time. To read more about their services, do an online search for "Airport Valet & Park Boston."
There are also parking garages located in downtown Boston. Their prices range from $20-$50/day.
Your room contains a welcome basket with lots of suggestions for restaurants, historical attractions, museums, shows and nightlife, and other activities that may interest you while you're in town. Maps and brochures are provided to help you plan your itinerary. I've lived in Boston since 2009 and can answer any questions you may have about public transportation, tourist attractions and prices, neighborhoods of interest, nearby colleges and convention centers, etc. Feel free to ask for advice!
