The magic of Lanta Old Town is an intangible thing that's extremely hard to describe. If you're looking for a unique holiday or vacation experience, where you can truly step back to a time where life unfolds on a personal level, where fascinating cultural events take place on a day-to-day basis and when fresh seafood becomes a way of life, then Lanta Old Town might be the place for you...
The 100 year old, teak-wood-lined streets remain home to a cosmopolitan mix of Thai-Chinese, Thai-Buddhist, Thai-Muslim, Chao-Lay (Sea Gypsies) and a growing community of western residents.

Unlike many other Ko Lanta Villas, Lanta Pole Houses are part of a true working Thai fishing village that offers visitors the chance to stay in an unique and friendly community, that is also part of Traditional Thai village life and culture.
Therefore there is the opportunity for much interaction with the local people and animals, whom you will observe working on the boats, and in the streets, going to the mosque or temple, along with children, geckos, dogs, birds, roosters, chickens, cats and so on. If you're looking for a serene, quiet villa miles from Thai life this is not the place.
Our closets sandy beach is on the west coast called Klong Nin.

We have 3 pricing structures.
Please note Xmas and NYE weeks are higher (peak season) and big green season discounts. For Green season we have a 1 week min stay. Monthly rentals do NOT include electric bill.
please note nightly pricing with Airbnb.

The Thai owner reserves the right to move guests to either house, but we will always try to accommodate the guests first choice. Houses are priced the same for this reason.

Other Things to Note

A Note About The Tides:
The highest tides are over 3 meters high, and are at the full moon and new {black} moon phase of EACH month, EVERY month. The normal tides are around 2.5 meters and change daily every 6 hours, for more information look at Phuket’s tide chart on the internet. The sea's clarity is very much influenced by the wind and waves, and therefore the time of the season. It can be stunning year around, but if stormy the sea is not clear. Lanta Old Town is a working fishing village with no sandy beach, The sandy beaches are on the west coast.

  • My wife and I were looking for a relaxing, peaceful location and Koh Lanta and the Coconut House served up both to perfection. It is the ideal escape and the Old Town is utterly relaxed and peaceful. We stayed for a week and, while I would possibly agree with those who say that the Old Town side of the island may seem a little too quiet after more than a few days, if you are prepared to hire a scooter (very easy, very cheap and the roads are pretty quiet) then it is easy to be on any part of the island in 20-30 minutes. This was a truly memorable holiday and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone looking for the famed Thailand scenery and tranquility.

  • A very sweet little place, ideal for a couple of nights but not much longer. It is fairly out of the way and this can be a problem if you want to go to the beaches or out for supper. Long beach or Khlong Nin on the West side are much more attractive places to stay.

  • Just loved it! The house was just perfect, listening to the waves under your bed at high tide, dogs and crazy roosters in the middle of the night. Best place ever!

  • We had a lovely stay in the lychee house. In light of the traditional hotel stays it truly felt like a unique experience, sleeping with the sea right under your bed. The house has a nice hippie touch to it, and frankly we don't think that the present pictures on the airbnb does it quite credit. All amenities were in order, though the washing machine certainly wasn't from this century. We got it to work but I wouldn't advise you to use it for white clothing. Old Town is really much nicer than we expected - better food and more charm than on the other side. Very nice food and service at Apsara. No beach on this side but 500-600 for a taxi to and from Klong Nin - a very fine beach. Being a family of 4 with a 5 year old kid and a 6 months baby the mix of a couple of weeks on Klong dao and 5 daysin the Pole house turned out to be a very good deal for us.

  • We had a fantastic few days at Lychee House. House was great, amazing views from the deck and we liked Old Town - quiet but with enough restaurants and small shops. Would recommend it to anyone who wants to get away from the more touristy places and relax in a beautiful setting for a few days.

  • We have been in Thailand one full month, from the north to the south, and we have been in love with Koh-Lanta "Old town". This is the best place we have seen during the trip : authentic village with smiling local people. Susanna's house is just perfect! The view from the terrasse is amazing and peaceful! We recommend it to all the people that would like to meet the real Thailand.

  • Our stay in Coconut House was a wonderful experience! Living side by side with the villagers of Lanta Old Town gives u a unique insight into Thai daily life. Your days will be spent mesmerized by the sea view from the deck and blending in with the soundscape around you. This consisted of the waves lapping under the house as the tide comes in, to local cockerels crowing and dogs howling along with the Call to prayer several times a day.

Close to the pole houses are some fabulous restaurants and cool places to hang out such as 'Shanti Shanti' and a new local eatery called 'Shine Talay' We have been visiting Thailand for 13 years now and highly rate the food here at its best!! Delicious!!

All in all we had a wonderful 8 days here and made friends with many of the local characters including the cats/dogs/cockerels/and birds!

You will definatly need transport if you're staying more than a few days and any swimming will be best done from the beaches on the other side of the Island (15 mins on a moped)

    Enjoy!

  • We absolutely loved our four night stay at Lanta Pole House last month! Susanna was traveling the night we got there but Robbie let us in and make sure we got settled. In spite of being away, Susanna and Robbie were in constant communication and ensured that all our needs were met. We ran out of hot water in the shower at some point but they had someone over to come by and fix it in less than an hour. The pictures of the Coconut House speak for themselves! If the weather permits, make sure to spend a night on the deck.... it was incredible to go to bed under the stars (literally!) to the sound of the waves and to wake up to a gorgeous sunrise. Highly recommend the Lanta Pole Houses if you want to stay away from the maddening crowds, yet have easy access to the beaches.
