  • The apartment is lovely! We came just for New Year's Eve & Rick & his wife surprised us with a bottle of bubbly! They were flexible with check-in and check-out and in quick communication via text.

The Belmont neighborhood is a favorite & walkable to all downtown attractions. I would definitely stay here again!

  • The apartment is lovely and in a great location to explore Belmont and walk to the Downtown Mall. We had a great stay and Rick was very helpful and flexible with checking in and checking out. The place was toasty warm, bring slippers for the cool tile floors in the wintertime.

  • We enjoyed our stay at Rick’s basement apartment. We celebrated my husband’s birthday and had a special treat waiting in the fridge with a homemade birthday wish for him. It was the beginning of a wonderful stay and made us feel at home! Rick was extremely accessible and friendly during our stay. The art work and bright colors create an open and cheery space. The apartment was clean, warm and the bed sheets were like sleeping on a cloud. The location is perfect and, if I was not pregnant, we would have parked our car and walked downtown. We highly recommend the art filled garden apartment in Charlottesville, VA to escape and enjoy the quaint Southern town.

  • Pros:
    Great art
    Very nicely decorated
    Comfortable bed
Great hosts (welcoming--left us a gift, responsive)
    Off-street parking
    Coffee and tea provided
    Nice towels
    Roomy
Some kitchen items (glasses, mugs, plates, silverware, bowls)
    Microwave

    Cons:
Felt like a basement (cold, exposed pipes, low ceilings, rough walls and ceilings--stains, marks)
Cold (only baseboard heating, so when we turned that on it got way too hot)
    Uncomfortable pillows
Bathroom too rustic (didn’t feel clean)
    Coffee maker kind of dirty
Kitchen sponge but no dish washing soap
    No iron
Was told there was shampoo, but there was not
Kitchen items don’t include pots/pans, cooking implements, even though there is a stove
Pricy for what it was (but we did stay the Friday after Thanksgiving)
Kitchen sink and cabinets old and dirty

    Suggestions:
    Bring slippers
Bring warm clothes to sleep in
    Bring all toiletries

  • The original art in this apartment makes the basement setting bright and cheerful. The bed in the bigger bedroom was great. The thing I most appreciate, is Rick's flexibility- he allowed us to book at the last minute, and made the apartment available for when we thought we might need it the next day! Thank you!

  • Had a wonderful stay! Bed was comfy and the art was really fantastically done. This couple was extremely accommodating and friendly. It just so happened our son and their son got along nicely, playing in the yard for most all of Sunday.
Also, having the separate rooms gave us more privacy than a hotel would have. Couch was also a comfy addition in the tv room.
Optimal privacy, options to recycle, mild walking heard above head only during waking hours, all the comforts of home including coffee and tea. We would certainly come back again to visit!

  • The apartment is very bright and cheerful - and the art is very special. My friends were visiting for a football weekend and the apartment was a good size for three people and in a very convenient location to the Downtown Mall. Rick was very responsive and made our trip pleasant and simple. Highly recommended.

  • The Brewers were incredible hosts. My wife and I took an overnight trip to Charlottesville for our anniversary & were delighted to find such fantastic accommodations. We had a private entry to the apartment, access to the driveway (so we didn't have to worry over street parking), and our hosts even left us a bottle of wine in honor of our anniversary. The rooms were beautifully decorated in bright, vibrant colors and everything was very clean and well-kept, I almost want to move to Charlottesville to live here. The apartment consists of a living area with access to TV, a small kitchen with a refrigerator, a bathroom with a stand up shower, and two bedrooms. The beds were very comfortable. We’d recommend this place to anybody looking to stay in a quiet, cute neighborhood within walking distance of the downtown mall (it took us about 10 minutes to walk to the center of downtown). It was more than enough room for the two of us.
