Enjoy beautiful sunsets, moonscapes and serenity from the privacy of your beach front bungalow...world class views! It is called "Sunset Beach" for a reason!
Small, quaint Sunset Beach is 26 blocks of paradise that offers Sun bathing, swimming, biking, rollerblading, surfing, kite surfing, SUP, kayaking, live music, restaurants and shopping.
Beach combing for shells at low tide is always fun. There are two, one-way streets behind the cottage with a "green belt" of grass that parallel Pacific Coast Highway... this is a great area for jogging or walking.
This beach bungalow is a throw back in time... let the sound of the ocean waves gently crashing on the shore melt the stress of city life away. Your biggest choice now is what to cook for dinner on the BBQ, or what restaurant or live music venue to walk to! This space is magical and will leave you smiling and wanting to come back for more!
the beach is just outside your door
Interaction with Guests
If I am not traveling I usually stay across the street in the harbor on my 1954 Chris Craft I am restoring.
Quaint and Charming, Sunset Beach is "old school" Southern California. A funky mix of rich and poor, old and new this 26 blocks packs a punch from live music venues, eateries and 13 watering holes! There is paddle boarding available INLAND...(across Pacific Coast Highway!) and the beach is literally at your beckon call.
Bring your groceries and Park your car in front of the bungalow and you will not need it again until you leave Sunset Beach.
Other Things to Note
There are four private bungalows on this property and neighbors in close proximity to our front door. Loud Music, and Loud intoxicated conversations are forbidden.Respect for the neighbors is tantamount
There is no smoking allowed in bungalow or on public beach... the patio, while private is adjacent to neighbors so common courtesy is requested... no loud voices or music. This is NOT A PARTY SPOT... it is a serene, peaceful, residential area. This space is perfect for a romantic getaway or escape to the beach for a small family.
The house was amazing. Opens right up to the ocean and perfect for one or two for a beach getaway. I plan on being back.
This place is located directly on the Sand in Sunset beach.
The apartment itself is pretty rustic and definitely not a place if you're expecting 5* luxury. However this is as described so you shouldn't be surprised.
The location/view are second to none and it's a great base for the area.
Some good bars nearby and Brix is a good spot for some decent live music.
The area is very laid back and it was fantastic to have a drink watching the sun go down each night from the front garden.
We'd stay again if in the area
Hard to leave Sunset Beach after chilling to the sounds of the ocean lulling us to sleep and greeting us in the morning. Brad's bohemian bungalow offers a unique niche on a great stretch of sand. The tantalizing breeze and view from the Hemingwayesque desk upstairs was a pleasant surprise. The few remaining cottages like this one are surrounded by million dollar plus homes.
It was nice to visit off season avoiding crowds and easily walking to multiple restaurants. Sunset Pizza & Pasta serves excellent food. The Fish Camp is also worth a visit. The owner of the Surf beverage market is friendly and offered good recommendations.
Brad communicated with us before, during, and after our stay. Easy, clear instructions and suggestions.
Walking the beach, collecting shells, watching the sunset from the captain's chairs, observing the surf gliders, catching an evening glimpse of Catalina Island ... makes Brad's bungalow a place to visit again.
If you are up for a bohemian, ON the beach, surfer-vibe, bachelor bungalow you will not be disappointed. Thank you Brad.
My pleasure Carolyn...it is always neat for me to read the reviews that others leave as I somehow have become a smidgen jaded to my amazing space...I have been traveling quite a bit and also living on the ocean in Florida. You succinctly described the magic of my home and make me long for it! Glad you and your husband enjoyed your stay. :)
We loved this location ... right on the beach, and walking distance to great restaurants.
Loved the décor...the funky, surfer-dude, hippie feel of the cottage.
Brad was a big help, as we did have a little housekeeping issue that he was very responsive to (even though he was out of town on his own vacation). He got it resolved quickly and efficiently.
The cottage was old, but charming in it's own way. Only two small issues: a dripping shower that could be heard throughout, and no coffee maker.
All in all, we enjoyed our weekend very much.
The reservation was canceled 2 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
Brad was a great host! Brad was always very helpful and responsive about details before we arrived. His bungalow was a perfect spot for our 45th wedding anniversary; private, secluded, and directly on the beach! We loved the tall Captain's chairs on the sand, as you could see for miles in both directions. We did not need to use our car once; lots of great places to eat and discover. Within a short walking distance - "Fish Camp"- very good meal, right on PCH! Also ate at "Captain Jack's", of Jack Haley - Seal Beach surfing icon. Excellent meal and terrific service!
First nite was a Full Moon, so the tide was really up and the moon was incredibly bright! The sounds of the surf lulled us to sleep.
The beach area is really a well-kept secret, and we'll back again!
Private patio with lush gardens: most of the plants were dead. Not an inviting atmosphere to sit out and enjoy. Hot tub either needs to be removed or fix as it looks trashy.
Bed Type description was real bed: there is a mattress sitting on discussing dirty pieces of carpet. Not comfortable. Speaking of comfortable the couch was a joke. We could only sit on it for a short time before our backs started to bother us. Had to take the cover and wash before we wanted to sit.
Bring your own groceries: NOT!! The kitchen smelled horrible. Here we wanted to save money and cook. There was a spider in the kitchen sink when we walked in as well another where the broken tile was w cob webs walking into the room where the frig was located. The bathroom rugs were filthy. This space is not magical and I did not leave with a smile of wanting to come back. We were there visiting our son and would of walked walked away that night if it wasnt for wanting to spend time with him. The advertisement says $199/night and we were charged $206.
I am sadly shocked by this review... I guess you simply cannot please everyone... and the reviews for my space speak for themselves.... I have hosted some 30 odd guests and never has anyone been so critical or harsh of my space. Cindy perhaps should stay at a 5 star hotel in the future...

The path less traveled describes me the best... surfer, snowboarder, artist, political activist, and entrepreneur are a few names I have been called (the nicer ones!).
I split my time between the oceans in California & S. Florida and the Sierra mountains... I am offering my groovy beach spaces for others to enjoy the serenity that I have created in my absence. Feel free to message me with any questions or with requests for additional photos... My California spot is a unique space you are certain to love and Jensen beach is pretty neat also. Peace :)
