Interaction with Guests
Your hosts, Rick and Lara, live in the house next door, and are available to answer/address any questions. They’re also happy to offer tips on entertainment, food, and outdoor recreation around Portland and beyond.
Lara loves to hike, kayak, bike, do yoga, and –as of this summer– paddle board! She owns way too many trail guides, and has bikes and yoga mats you can borrow. (If you want a ride to her favorite Bikram yoga studio across town, she'll be happy to sweat with you.) Rick is more of an indoor type; if you need help with the WiFi, are in search of the city’s best bookstores, or have any other questions regarding your stay, he’s happy to help. (And don’t worry: if it’s peace and solitude you seek, they’ll happily give you that, as well.)
Trader Joe's is just down the street; also within walking distance: a local pizza place, a bagelry, and a great sandwich shop. More foodie/art goodness is located on nearby Hawthorne Street.
We're within walking distance of all major bus lines, offering fast access to most parts of town!
This place was just fine, but wasn't up to the standards of the great airbnb's I've stayed at before. The house is nice, but it's very minimally equipped. The kitchen is difficult to cook in; pots and pans and basic utensils are lacking; expect to bring everything yourself, salt & pepper, oils, butter, etc. The house is not inhabited and is not well stocked or really decorated with love and care the way so many nice airbnb's are. There is also a lot of road noise from 39th, even late at night, so light sleepers beware. The beds are quite poor old-style springs. On the plus sides, the hosts are very professional, communicate well, and everything went smoothly.
Four adults spent three nights in this rental. It is in a great location to get to downtown and to various services. We were glad to have the ceiling fans and AC units since the weather was very hot. We were quite satisfied with the accommodations.
This home is wonderfully clean and spacious. I did not have to ask any questions upon my arrival due to the well thought out and concise notes found throughout the home. Even though my friends and I did not personally meet this couple we still felt welcome in the home and enjoyed our stay.
House was great, lots of room. Rick and Lara were very communicative and thorough. Great place to spend an evening!
This is a great place for families who don't want to spend money on multiple hotel rooms and want their own privacy.
It was nice that Rick and Laura left goodies in the fridge for our arrival and made sure the place was clean and secure. The bedrooms were super comfortable and quiet! :) They checked in on us multiple times during the trip and made sure we enjoyed our stay!
Our hosts were lovely, and everything was very clear/ well marked, easy, and clean. The house is located a nice walk from Reed College, which was our goal. The nice thing about getting a house to ourselves was not bothering anyone when my BFF and I ended up talking until 2am. And if we'd been in the market to stay longer the kitchen would've been a real asset. I'd stay here again in a heartbeat!
