Interaction with Guests
I run my graphic design business, Dada Design, from home so I'm around if you need anything. When my work load allows, I love to spend time with guests and get to know them better, but I'm also sensitive if guests prefer their privacy. We've found texting is the perfect way to communicate with guests during their stay so a verified mobile number is very useful.
There is a superb supermarket 2 minutes walk away that stocks a wide variety of local and specialist produce and has an excellent cheese counter, deli section and off licence. Kendal's bustling high street is one minute's walk away where you'll find plenty of shops, a library, the post office and several banks. There's a Costa on the main high street and Caffe Nero is in the marketplace. It's worth exploring Kendal's historic yards where you'll find many of our more individual retailers and businesses.
The market town of Kendal lies just outside the spectacular Lake District National Park, has plenty of pubs, cafés, takeaways and restaurants, 2 museums, a leisure centre with swimming pool, golf course, the Abbot Hall Art Gallery and the Brewery Arts Centre with a theatre, cinemas, art galleries, bars and a regular live music programme (visit the breweryarts website). There are plenty of places to explore with lovely parks (Kendal Castle, Serpentine Woods and Noble's Rest) and pleasant walks along the river Kent right on our doorstep. There is a street market every Wednesday and Saturday and a farmer's market once a month.

Made to feel very welcome; descriptions accurate; old part of town overlooking chimney pots and a clock tower.
Caryn & Merv were excellent hosts. They have made the colour house somewhere very special to stay. Their warm welcome, freshly baked bread and restaurant tips were very much appreciated. We'll be recommending them to friends and family. Thank you.
We stayed at Colour House with our 2.5 year old and 4 month old baby. It was a wonderful experience. The set-up worked well for us as a family, the decor was warm and inviting, all the mod cons you would expect in a high end establishment and all the privacy you need. Caryn welcomed us on arrival and showed us around before letting us get on with our evening. Breakfast was available in the room and provided something for all tastes. Couldn't recommend more highly and will definitely consider returning.
The apartment is really cool. Large and very spacious - lovely welcome from Caryn and Merv. I was doing the Dales Way walk with my 13 year old son, and the Private Suite was perfect to rest our bones and soak in the lovely bath. My son was very happy with the array of electronic equipment available as well - big telly, PS etc. Great little kitchen area as well with lots of nice stuff provided by Caryn. Highly recommended. We stayed at lots of pubs and B&Bs en route, and this was the best experience for sleep and relaxing.
Caron and Merv are wonderful hosts. The apartment is very spacious and it feels vey private. The place is as good as it looks on the website. Very pleasant experience. Highly recommended
Fabulous place in convenient location, in a quiet lane in the town and in walking distance of local amenities and short drive to go hill walking; very warm welcome from hosts, well equipped suite, spotlessly clean, beautifully furnished, good quality breakfast items, fresh homemade bread, what more could you ask for?
Caryn made me and my kids feel very very welcome. The space is absolutely fantastic - wonderful big lounge room, beautiful bathroom and very cosy bedroom. The style and design are superb - contemporary and ethnic and full of colour. Also very comfortable - and everything you might need, including great coffee machine and milk frother, lovely bread, jams, yogurts and juice for breakfast.
We had lots of visitors coming in and out for cups of tea and food since we were at a family wedding. Caryn and Merv made everyone very welcome.
Thanks Tonya - it was great to meet you and your extended family! So glad the wedding went well and you enjoyed your stay. Sorry if it's not clear on my listing page - we top up breakfast items every day if needed. I'll amend my house manual! Hope to see you again, you're always welcome, Caryn & Merv.
