Interaction with Guests
I run my graphic design business, Dada Design, from home so I'm around if you need anything. When my work load allows, I love to spend time with guests and get to know them better, but I'm also sensitive if guests prefer their privacy. We've found texting is the perfect way to communicate with guests during their stay so a verified mobile number is very useful.
There is a superb supermarket 2 minutes walk away that stocks a wide variety of local and specialist produce and has an excellent cheese counter, deli section and off licence. Kendal's bustling high street is one minute's walk away where you'll find plenty of shops, a library, the post office and several banks. There's a Costa on the main high street and Caffe Nero is in the marketplace. It's worth exploring Kendal's historic yards where you'll find many of our more individual retailers and businesses.
The market town of Kendal lies just outside the spectacular Lake District National Park, has plenty of pubs, cafés, takeaways and restaurants, 2 museums, a leisure centre with swimming pool, golf course, the Abbot Hall Art Gallery and the Brewery Arts Centre with a theatre, cinemas, art galleries, bars and a regular live music programme (visit the breweryarts website). There are plenty of places to explore with lovely parks (Kendal Castle, Serpentine Woods and Noble's Rest) and pleasant walks along the river Kent right on our doorstep. There is a street market every Wednesday and Saturday and a farmer's market once a month.

we had a fantastic couple of days at colour house! caryn and merv are lovely and welcoming and so happy to help if you need anything. the space is super clean and open and warm. we loved it. thanks!!
Great hosts and place. Caryn gave us excellent advice on local restaurants and walks. She also baked delicious fresh bread for us when we arrived. Lovely apartment, very central. We would definitely stay with Caryn again!
We had an awesome time at Caryn and Merv's place for our anniversary. These guys really went above and beyond to make us feel welcome, giving us good advice on where to eat, grab a good pint and go walking. The breakfast they provided was great - with freshly baked bread, jams, cereals and yoghurt, yum. The apartment itself was absolute stunning inside with a great view and snow-capped hills just visible in the distance! We would definitely recommend staying here, and would seriously consider coming back if we were in the area.
We had a lovely stay and dare I say slept in to 11am on Monday, I don't suppose you can have a better recommendation.
Caryn is a great host and I enjoyed my stay in the listing. It is perfectly located to enjoy Kendal whilst being a cosy and relaxing space to sleep and unwind. The bedroom is very comfortable as are the sofas. I enjoyed chatting with Caryn during my stay and the selection of teas and coffees provided.
A superb airbnb, by far one of my best to date. The space is amazing: spacious but cozy, comfortable and welcoming. The hosts are lovely and extremely hospitable. I can't wait to stay there again.
I've been a freelance graphic designer for the past 30 years and began my career in the music industry freelancing for Virgin, EMI and Rough Trade Records, designing record sleeves for bands including The Smiths and Everything but the Girl.
Originally from London, I've been living in the Lake District for 20 years now and run my business, Dada Design, from home in Kendal working for a number of clients large and small in and around Cumbria. I live with my husband, Merv, who is a gardener.
We are very flattered by the wonderful reviews we've been getting from our airbnb guests and really enjoy opening our house to people from around the world.
LOVES: Great design, architecture, gardens. PLACES: Barcelona, Ragusa, Rome.
