Description

The space

1954 homestead cabin in the middle of 10 peaceful desert acres. The cabin is less than 8 minutes to town and 15 minutes to the west entrance gate of Joshua Tree National Park. The sunrise porch offers sweeping views and the sunset porch is conveniently fenced for sun bathing, hot tub privacy, and your four legged friends safety. You will find plenty of outdoor seating including a hammock, chase lounges, and a table and chairs for outdoor dining after you prepare food on the Weber grill. Sit around the bonfire on cool desert evenings while gazing at the star filled sky.

Inside the homesteader there are plenty of relaxing spots, including the comfy mid century Heron rocking chair. A mountain view from the table makes it a perfect place for eating, writing, or surfing the web. The full sized bed is neatly tucked between the two large closets. If you need additional sleeping options, the comfy sofa can convert into a queen size sleeper bed.

The cabin bathroom has a tall rain shower head and pumps out the hottest water you could want with an efficient on-demand hot water heater. And don't worry about bringing your shampoo/ conditioner/ soap, we have them here for you.

The cabin kitchen is cookware equipped (pots & pans). It has all of the basics for cooking and preparing food including a counter top convection oven large enough to fit a full sized pizza/ chicken, and two induction hot plates. You will also find organic coffee and tea, Vitamix blender, food processor, and an Omega juicer for those of you who like your green smoothies and fresh juice....Oh and if you forget your yoga mats, we have two here for you!

Guest access

It is all yours to enjoy! You will have the homestead cabin to yourselves.

Interaction with guests

You won't see us unless you you need us! We respect your privacy and want you to feel like it is your cabin while you are staying in Joshua Tree but we are available anytime you need us. You will receive directions on how to access the cabin. Feel free to call, text, or email anytime :)

The neighborhood

Joshua Tree is full of artists and musicians, free-thinkers, hipsters, mixed with Marines from the military base in neighboring 29 Palms and not to forget desert rat characters who grew up in the desert or have been in the desert long enough to add plenty of character to the Joshua Tree mix. It makes for a good variety of personalities! In the village you can find locally owned cafe's, boutiques, thrift stores, plenty of antique stores and art galleries.

It is 8 minutes from the downtown village of Joshua Tree and because of this we get very little light pollution at night (perfect for star gazing). The cabin is in a great location far enough away but close enough to several attractions. It is 1.5 miles from Noah Purifoy Outdoor Desert Art Museum, The Integratron is 13 miles and Giant Rock is a few more. Less than 15 minutes to Joshua Tree National Park, Pioneertown and Pappy and Harriets is 20 miles, Joshua Tree Retreat Center 10 miles and the Dhamma Vaddhana S. Cal Vipassana Center is 15 miles away. Let us know what you are interested in and we will point you in the right direction.

We really enjoyed our stay at Leafe and Katherine's place. The cabin was very quiet, and a perfect place to get away. Leafe and Katherine were very responsive and helpful, with lots of great suggestions of things to do in the area. The cabin was pristine and exactly as described. We would not hesitate to book again with Leafe and Katherine, great overall experience.

My favorite was sitting in the front porch and drinking my coffee in the early morning. Wind blowing , chimes playing music, birds singing. Desert Heaven.
