About this listing
Stay here if you want to relax, seek walkable accessibility to downtown and an opportunity to swap stories of travels. You can make yourself at home in the kitchen and have the opportunity to hear advice on the city's best spots should you desire.
You are welcome to use the kitchen! In the morning, I'll give you a light breakfast and coffee if you would like.
The home is across the street from Franklin and Marshall College, mere seconds from a gorgeous park and a brief walk to downtown (about 15 minutes). The guest room is on the second floor, right beside the shared bathroom.
The home is a beautifully renovated house build in 1898. I love my house, I hope you will too!
In addition to me, there are two fun housemates who live on the third floor. They too use the bathroom that you will use.
Comfortably, my space houses TWO people. However, I am completely willing to welcome a third person (I have air mats) if you just need a place to crash for a night or two. I didn't want to limit groups of three...just understand that a third person will make it tight, but it's completely fine with me!
I know that a lot of people have other plans for breakfast, but if you want, I'm more than happy to give you some cereal or toast. Just let me know! (If you would rather me point you in the direction of good eateries, that's fine too!) Regardless, I'll make sure you have some delicious coffee (or tea!) each morning if you want it and will do whatever I can to make your stay a Lancaster a successful one. I love giving advice on the best places to eat, drink and see in town, so if you ask, I'll help you as much as I can.
Interaction with Guests
I will typically be around for questions you may have. I will also be quick to answer if you text or call me before or during your stay. I do this because I enjoy meeting the people who stay with me.
If you prefer hiding in your room, that's okay too!
My house is in a beautiful neighborhood that is easy to get to all the places in Lancaster city that you want to be, but peaceful and quiet when you need a break.
It's perfect for getting out of town, for any F&M College related event or getting downtown effortlessly.
Things to see and do:
Lancaster First Friday and Third Friday (Lancaster Music Friday) each month,
Lancaster Central Market, The Amish, Lancaster County sightseeing, Franklin and Marshall College (F&M), Millersville University (and the Ware Center with lots of great events), Lancaster Convention Center, Long's Park (Long's Park Summer Music Series), The Fulton Opera House, Zoetropolis Art House and much more!
To eat and drink I recommend:
Lancaster Brewing Company, Aussie and the Fox, Himalayan Curry, The Fridge, Square One Coffee, Chestnut Hill Cafe, Prince Street Cafe, On Orange, Tellus 360, Hunger and Thirst, Iron Hill Brewery and many more!
There is a bus stop right outside my house. Also, you can get downtown with a 15-20 minute walk.
I also can lend one bike if you are interested.
The train station is also walkable and many guests come in by train or bus. This station is linked west to Harrisburg (and beyond) and east to Philadelphia (and beyond).
There is Uber in Lancaster too, so keep that in mind!
Other Things to Note
I host on airbnb because I genuinely love getting to know new people and helping you learn about my awesome little city. I love when guests ask me for advice on where to eat, where to drink, what to do. So, please don't be shy!
I also really, really like other humans.
Common human courtesy: Clean up after yourself, be quiet if you are coming in late or leaving early. Please turn off lights when you are aren't in the room.
Understand that the bathroom is shared, so please try not to take eternal showers or make a massive mess.
This is a home, where real people live, we do our best to make sure your time here is relaxing, comfortable and fun :)
Also, if you have a problem, communicate it and I will do whatever I can to help you out.
It makes me sad when some guests, though rare, act upset because their stay is not like a hotel. I don't intend to provie a hotel experience and I hope you consider that a good thing!
Very welcoming home! Laura and her roommate were most gracious and accommodating. I highly recommend it!
Laura is a amazing host. Kimchi, her lovable pet, is sooooo cute, because she's beautiful and quite. I love her house, it's cozy and convenient, close to our school and park. Overall it's amazing!
Laura was a wonderful host! Very welcoming and friendly. She is great at communicating and replying quickly to messages. This was my first Air B and B experience. She never made me feel like a stranger.
Her home is very clean and relaxing. The neighborhood is great as well- safe and close to downtown shops/cafes/restaurants.
She was a great resource in providing me information on places to eat and go. I would highly recommend her to anyone!
Also, her little dog, Kimchi, was a delight! You will find a new friend in Kimchi the moment you meet!
Laura is so, so nice and her home is incredibly beautiful. She went out of her way to make sure I was comfortable and enjoyed my stay. Although she was traveling for a large part of my time here, when we did get to spend time together and talk, it was always fun and interesting. She had great advice for me about moving abroad this fall and everyone, including Laura's housemates and other guests, made me feel quite welcome in her home. They even came to see my product demonstrations while I was at work! I would definitely recommend this listing to anyone looking for a quiet, relaxing, peaceful place to stay in Lancaster.
Very nice one night stay. The room was clean and pretty. This is such a great location - so close to F&M. And such an easy simple stay.
Laura was lovely and my experience here was wonderful. The room was just as described, clean, quaint, and supplied with all of the basic necessities (towels, blankets, etc.). If I ever find myself in Lancaster in the future, I will most certainly be staying with Laura again. She is personable, kind, and extremely generous for opening up her lovely home to travelers. I highly recommend staying with Laura if ever in the area.
We were coming from NYC late at night with a dog and Laura was very accommodating with our schedule to check in.
Her place is very cute, clean, well equipped, most of all in a great part of the town--there's a great park across the street! I would go back to stay at her place if I were to take a trip to Lancaster again!
About the Host, Laura
I am a traveler who appreciates the comfort of a cozy place to call home in the midst of wandering the globe. I am quick to smile, enjoy people's stories and love hearing people laugh. Depending on the time of the year, I may be responsible for the well-being of dozens of international teenagers. I love cities and want to travel to everywhere I haven't yet been and go back to every place I've already seen.
