Located just a few miles from the stunning Painted Hills, one of the 7 Wonders of Oregon, our house is spacious and open with modern amenities and relaxing outdoor spaces. We have completely updated the house with all new furniture and beautiful design touches making it the perfect place to stay when exploring the Painted Hills & John Day Fossil Beds!
Our Mitchell, Oregon vacation home is a short walk to Main Street which has a brewery, a market & a gas station.
The space
The space
Our house has been completely updated with new furnishings and a modern design aesthetic to showcase the open and spacious layout, and provide plenty of room to relax. Our backyard is very large with a covered patio and looks out into an open field making it feel very private. We have two bedrooms and one bathroom with an additional queen size sleeper sofa in the living room. The house is completely stand-alone with no shared land, buildings or spaces for a quiet and peaceful stay.
Bedrooms
Each bedroom has a new queen sized memory foam mattress with soft and comfortable sheets. One of the bedrooms is roomy with additional seating and a large closet, while the other is fairly small, but easily fits two guests and their belongings. We provide plenty of extra blankets and linens to make sure you are comfortable at all times.
Kitchen
Our large kitchen is perfect for cooking your favorite meals, with stainless steel appliances, including a dishwasher, all the cookware and dishes you might need, and staples such as spices, condiments and oil. We also have a propane grill in our back yard, with propane included!
We have a Keurig single serve coffee maker with complimentary pods, and a coffee press if you bring ground coffee (We do not have a coffee grinder).
Our dining table is set for 4, but easily extends to accommodate 6 guests with extra chairs provided.
Living room
The living room has a Sleeper Sofa, two accent chairs, two bean bags, and a desk.
For entertainment, we provide a DVD player with a wide selection of movies, a Roku player that can be used with your personal Netflix, Hulu, Prime or other streaming accounts, free wifi, and a selection of books and games to use. We do not have cable or satellite TV.
Outdoor Area
We have a large back yard with a relaxing covered patio with open views and outdoor seating for 6. We have a propane grill available for use (with complimentary propane provided) and a croquet and corn hole set for entertainment.
Bathroom
We provide plenty of large and comfortable towels along with shampoo, conditioner and body wash for use in our shower. Please note we do not have a bathtub.
Garage & Parking
There is a driveway and side lot large enough to park several cars. The garage can be used to store any large personal belongings, motorcycles, bicycles, etc, but is not used for parking vehicles.
Communications
We have free wifi for your personal use, but cell phone service can be limited to non-existent in the area, though you may have access while in Mitchell. We have a home telephone that can be used for any local calls, but we do not have a long distance plan so recommend bringing a phone card if you will need to make long distance calls.
Washer & Dryer
We have a washer and dryer available for use with laundry detergent provided.
Air Conditioning
We have a new window air conditioner in each bedroom and an evaporative cooler for use in the living room.
Pets
We accept pets with a one time $25 fee and just ask that you clean up after them. Please let us know if you are planning on or thinking about bringing a pet at the time of booking.

Your health & safety is of the upmost importance to us, so we are sharing what we are doing to help you feel comfortable staying with us, some of which are new and some of which we've always done.

Guests have access to the whole house and front and back yard. There are no shared spaces, land or buildings, and only one next door neighbor, separated by our large yard.
We utilize an electronic door lock and have contact-less check-in & check-out.
There is one shed on the property and a locked pantry that are off limits.

Neighborhood highlights
Mitchell is a very small town with a brewery, several restaurants, a small market with a limited assortment of goods, and a gas station. The open hours for all can vary depending on the day so we recommend bringing some food for cooking and eating.
Getting around
A car is necessary to get around the area, and some areas may require a 4 wheel drive or good tires if you want to explore the more remote areas.
Main Street in Mitchell is a short walk from our front door (with a hill coming back home), or parking is readily available if you would like to drive to Main Street.

Pets: We accept pets in the house with a one time $25 pet fee and require guests who bring them to completely clean up both inside and outside spaces of any pet impact.
Smoking: Absolutely no smoking inside the house. If you choose to smoke outside, please properly extinguish all lit items appropriately and do not leave any butts on the ground.
House Use: We rely on all our guests to take care of our home as if it were their own
