House - Private room · East 13th Avenue, Denver, CO 80206, United States

A cozy, spacious 3rd floor space. Some guests have called it "Retro" when in fact it is "original." There is a seating area with a roll-top desk, bedroom with full-size tempurpedic mattress, bathroom with clawfoot tub and shower and a small kitchen.

The Space

Looking for Denver hotels? Consider our bed and breakfast Denver suite! This space is on the classic third floor of a house built in 1889. Entrance is private from the ground floor. The bed is full sized and comfortably sleeps two. There is a claw foot bathtub with shower in the bathroom that is shared only occasionally when the front office is being used during daytime hours. Seating area with couch and roll-top desk. Kitchen includes sink, coffee pot, cube refrigerator and microwave. The floor is carpeted and walls freshly painted. Lots of light during the day. Air conditioner and fans in case of hot weather. Steam radiators in the winter. Price includes local taxes of 14.75%.

Although our house is on a busy street, the house is quiet in a tree-lined, historic neighborhood. Our next door neighbor is a church across the alley. Parking is available on the street. The house is within easy walking distance of major bus lines. There is one of the best ice cream shops across the street as well as a friendly tavern serving great food, and dry cleaner just across 13th Avenue. Just a couple of blocks east is the Congress Park neighborhood where locals eat breakfast at Zorba's or Pete's Kitchen on Colfax and choose either fine dining, pizza or Chinese take-out at dinner time. But there is no lack of variety in restaurants in all directions. Cheesman Park and the Botanic Gardens are two blocks away. The State Capital and Downtown are just moments away via bicycle or cab. We are 21 blocks (1 mile) from the Art Museum, the Central Library and the Colorado History Museum. And of course there is easy access to the foothills and mountains. Red Rocks Park and Amphitheater is 20 minutes away. Ski areas are as close as 60 minutes from our house. Our bed and breakfast Denver suite has charm that many Denver hotels lack. Whether you are coming to town for business or pleasure, you will feel welcome at our home.

  • Both my husband and I needed a place to stay in Denver on short notice-and Cynthia happily accepted! Her house is clean, the room is super private, and it's located in a great neighborhood if you want to be downtown! Walking distance to many places. We were busy out and about-unfortunately didn't get to meet Cynthia! She was super great to work with and very laid back through our messages. I would recommend this place!

  • Cynthia's house was indeed beyond my expectation. The place has more space than I have imagined. The location was good too. In a quiet neighbourhood but not far from the center of the town. Cynthia was very kind and friendly but not intrusive . I have asked her about renting a bicycle, she kindly let me use her bike which she did not use and even buy a new lock for me to lock the bike. I really enjoy my stay with her and would recommend anybody to choose her place.

  • Cynthia's house is full of character. We had our own little private quarters, including a bathroom, kitchen and anteroom. The anteroom had an air conditioner, and although we did not need it with the fans in the room, we came to appreciate its existence after staying at some other places in the Denver/Boulder area, as air conditioning does not seem to be the norm or guaranteed in this part of the country.

  • The lovely little apartment in Cynthia's home was much more than we could have ever expected.
Cynthia's home is in a tree lined neighborhood within a short walk to the Denver Botanical Garden, a must see!
The apartment had the BEST BED, it was a somewhat firm bed, that conformed to our bodies. It was a nice treat since we were there for three nights. Sagging beds are the worst!
She had great restaurant tips - which we followed through with - and they were great!
Cynthia is a gracious, and kind host. If I'm ever back in the Denver area, I will try my best to book with her again.

  • Cynthia welcomed me very warmly in her lovely home. The house itself is very charming and I had a lot of space for myself (a bedroom at the top floor plus my own kitchen, bathroom and a another room, so pretty much like a whole apartment). I spent two nights there and on the first morning I had to catch a bus about 10 blocks south of her place so I had the chance to walk through the very pretty neighbourhood. Also, getting to the airport after the two nights was very convenient as bus no 15 is leaving just around the corner and with one change to bus AT you can get to the airport in around 1h.
Overall, I was very happy and it was definitely nicer than staying in a hotel!

  • I had a great experience staying at Cynthia's house. I only stayed for one night and had a great time. It's very conveniently located relatively close to the center of the city, I took a bus and was able to get to 16th street mall in 15 minutes. You may walk as well, but it might be quite a long walk. Cynthia was very nice and accommodating and the place is very very comfortable. I would definitely stay there again if I pass by Denver.

  • The listing exceeded our expections. Our hostess was charming and made us feel welcome while allowing us our space. The location was in a great neighborhood that offered many restaurants and stores.

  • I stayed for one night only but it was a cozy, private oasis. Cynthia was a fantastic communicator and host, giving me all the information I needed to arrive late and leave early the next morning. She emphasized the quality of my stay over all other concerns. The space is bigger than I expected, charming in its decor and very quiet. The memory foam mattress is just as comfy as promised. The best night's sleep I've had away from home in a long time.

    Response from Cynthia:

So sorry about the coffee filter mix-up. That filter does not require an extra filter:) Looks like I need to leave another note for future travelers. Glad you enjoyed yourself all the same!

  • Cynthia's place was perfect! The room was quiet and comfortable. The location was 2 blocks from my daughter's apartment in a lovely neighborhood. Cynthia and her dog, Bud, were friendly and considerate, welcoming hosts. I will stay there again on later visits.
    Thanks Cynthia and Bud!

  • This was my first experience with Airbnb and it was absolutely perfect. I came to Denver for a meeting and was only in town for 24 hours. I arrived a couple hours later than my check-in time, and Cynthia was on site to greet me and give me a quick tour of the top floor. The rooms were immaculate and I had my own sitting room, bedroom, bathroom, and kitchen. I immediately fell asleep on the Temper-pedic foam mattress and had the best sleep I've had in a very long time. When I checked out in the morning, I had a very pleasant send-off from her incredibly friendly dog.

I didn't have the leisure to cook for myself or get to explore on this trip, but Cynthia and her lovely abode will definitely be my top choice for future trips to Denver.

Jungian Psychotherapist
I have lived and worked very happily in my house for 21 years. It is just recently that I have decided to create spaces to share with visitors. I work as a Jungian psychotherapist in an office on the 3rd floor. So, during the week there will be a few people sharing the bathroom and waiting room that are part of the 3rd floor suite. Otherwise, you will have private access to the entire floor. Our 2nd floor unit is a 950 sq.ft private apartment with a well-stocked kitchen, a formal dining room, large living room with deck and a bath & bedroom behind French Doors. There is also a pull-out full size couch/bed in the living room and an Aero bed that can be moved wherever might be convenient for the 5th guest. The mattresses are Tempurpedic on both floors. I have a Samoyed named Bud who keeps all of us safe and smiling. He has a space in the front yard and stays on the first floor with me. When I recently traveled to Marseille, France, I had the great good fortune to stay in a local home and learned first-hand how great it is to have a personal connection away from home. I have also been to South Africa, Botswana and Zimbabwe as well as Mexico. I love meeting new people and seeing the world. Our many Airbnb guests bring the world to us.
