Interaction with guests
I will be on call for the entire length of your stay. You can call/text/email me at any point and I will make sure to get back right away with answers to any questions you might have. If need be, either me or a trusted friend will come by to help you in person.
Located in the prime Pinheiros’ neighborhood, the house is close to absolutely everywhere, a great feat in a sprawling city like São Paulo. The neighborhood is very safe, laid back and relaxing — and, importantly, a short taxi ride from major businness districts of “Faria Lima”, “Berrini”, “Paulista”, and “Itaim”. For those who prefer riding the subway and enjoy walking, “Clínicas” subway station is ten minutes away.
Pinheiros sits midway between bohemian “Vila Madalena” and eaters’ paradise “Jardins”. It’s a bustling yet tranquil neighborhood, with plenty of shops, local eateries, and world class restaurants within walking distance. You can also easily get to “Parque do Ibirapuera”, a green respite from the urban madness. It’s a 30-minute walk — or less, if you go by bike (there is a public sharing station around the corner).
GETTING TO AND FROM SÃO PAULO’S MAIN AIRPORTS
GUARULHOS INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (GRU)
If you’re landing at GRU, you can either take a cab or a shuttle to the house:
The taxi counters are located just outside each terminal. Please provide the house address [Rua João Moura, 486, Jardim América, SP, ], and they’ll automatically quote you the proper rate. As of early 2017, the cost is around R$ 170.
If you need help booking a taxi to pick you up at the house when leaving to GRU at check-out, please let me know and I’ll be glad to assist you.
If you’re using the Airport Bus Service shuttle you should get down at the Avenida Paulista stop and, from there, take a cab to the house.
If you’re landing at Congonhas Airport, just follow the signs to the taxi area after collecting your bags. Traffic conditions allowing, it’s a short ride to the house.
MOVING AROUND THE CITY
I advise you to download the “Easy Taxi”, “99Taxis”, and “Uber” apps. It’s the fastest, easiest way to call a cab to the door. Alternatively, on leaving the house you can take a right and walk to the corner, where there’s a taxi stand. Or you can just hail a cab in the street.
This area is served by a lot of bus lines. I’m not a heavy bus user, but if you understand a little Portuguese, you can go to the website to find out where to get a bus that will take you to your desired destination. If you need help in using the website, I’ll be happy to assist you. Please don’t hesitate in mailing me with your inquiry.
The closest station is CLÍNICAS. It’s a 15-minute walk or a 5-minute taxi ride from the house.
No parties or events. Inviting one or two friends over is fine, but with any group larger than that things tend to get out of control.
Please switch off lights and the A/C when not in use or upon leaving the house.
Please close all windows every time you leave the house. São Paulo is a truly rainy city.
To ensure your safety, please keep both the front gate and door locked at all times.
Smoking outdoors only.
Guests not included in the reservation are not allowed to sleep over.
No loud noise after 10 p.m.
Please take good care of the house and its stuff. I’m proud to offer a very special place—my home—for all my guests, and I hope you return it to me the same way you’ve found it.
Hi! I’m a writer and translator. I travel a lot, but when I’m back in São Paulo, I love strolling around my neighborhood or just chilling at home — and my house is perfectly designed and located for both. I’m sure you’ll enjoy it as much as I do. Welcome!
