About this listing
Proceeds to children living with HIV. Charming 2 bed, 2 bath, 1950's bungalow. 4 kms from airport & beach. Large garden. Power & water backup. Free WiFi. $15 for safe airport pickup. $15 food basket for a late night snack and/or breakfast.
Very quiet, peaceful setting, yet close to everything Entebbe has to offer. High thread-count linens, tasteful designs, and a large part of my African art collection. I have lived in Uganda for 14 years, and have gathered lovely antiquities and modern pieces. Much of the design is shabby chic to be sure. Armed security at night, secured fencing.
Free WiFi up to 500mb's.
Drinking water provided. We can also offer a nice arrival basket of fruit, juice, milk, bread, margarine, coffee, tea, sugar and eggs if you like ($15 for two people), or there are two neighborhood kiosks that sell essentials. One across the street, and another a block away.
You have the whole house! We also have a sweet (outside) guard dog named Honey.
Interaction with Guests
Two students live in an outbuilding on-site, so are available to greet you, to answer questions, to offer advice, and to problem-solve, but they also very much respect your privacy. The level of interaction is entirely up to you. If they have time, and if you'd like to negotiate with them, they are sometimes able to help with tasks and errands.
Quiet, private, lots of birds, convenient. Golf course at the end of the street. In town, so easy to find, yet feels like a quiet retreat. Restaurant nearby for your convenience.
Once you leave the airport and round the lake, there are literally only three turns, and then you're at our gate. There is a bodaboda stand nearby. We're so close to everything that a special hire taxi is also affordable, and walking is very doable. I don't use my car when I am home.
Other Things to Note
All proceeds go to the care of orphans living with HIV/AIDS at AidChild. Please note that this is a 60 year old bungalow in a harsh setting, meaning some of the walls and the bathrooms definitely have a shabby-chic look to them. If that style doesn't appeal to you, this may not be the best fit. But I like it!
Had the opportunity to stay here for 5 weeks after a brief overnight stay the year before. The house is very comfortable, tastefully decorated with lots of beautiful East African art, really restful, and on a quiet street. I was well cared for, the host was very attentive - touching base regularly to check in and answer my many questions but not being intrusive - overall a very positive experience. I'd definitely do it again! Bonus: a German Shepherd who was great company.
We had a wonderful time at Nathaniel's house. It was so beautiful, with big rooms and lovely accommodations. The person who lived on site, Rogers, helped with every request and was very nice. I loved the stay and would recommend it to anyone!
Nathaniel Dunigan and his son were wonderful hosts. They really care for their guests. Nathaniel is truly responsive: he reacted within a few minutes to my request to hire his house. And so did he during all our exchange of messages on AirBnB.
Nathaniel gave me information on the house in its environment. So I just had in advance the right insight in the kind of place I would stay.
Nathaniel’s son was ready to welcome us quite late when we arrived at night on the compound. We had phone contact as we drove toward the house. He was waiting for us outside. He showed and explained every thing thoroughly. As a very kind welcome gesture, he give us free airtime to connect through his provider on the internet. Very useful and welcome to be directly in touch wil family, friends and During the all stay, you could ask him everything on all relevant matters. He was fast and terribly helpful.
Nathaniel’s ad is very accurate. We dreamed from the beautiful room with this gorgeous bed you see on his profile. And yes, it is was there: the bed the huge room. With own restroom and shower. Nathaniel’s house is big, it feels at home with a nice artistic touch. There are two spacious bedrooms, two toilets, a shower, a bathroom. Furthermore: living room, dining room, kitchen and small adjoining room. And how nice it was to have our coffee in the morning on the veranda looking at the beautiful garde, carefully maintained. The house is fully equipped from fans to freezer; from soap to salt, from toilet paper to bath towels. There is fresh mineral freely available in special tanks. In case of power failure there is a backup generator assuring electricity in important part to the house like the kitchen.
The house is situated in a green residential area, very accessible. There is a large new asphalt road leading to the gate. The house itself is on a small compound where students are accommodated. At night there is a guard in the garden. If you need a taxi, even in the midst of the night for instance, for the Entebbe International Airport, it’s easy available.
Conclusion: In all aspects the house is a great experience, an experience made possible bij Nathaniel and his son: great people. We’ll be back!
Nathaniel's house is in a high-walled secure garden compound with mature trees and lush garden. The house is clean and spacious and full of amazing art. Rogers was very helpful with everything. I could not recommend Nathaniel's house too highly; it offers everything one could need for a short or a long stay.
Great place, relaxing ambiance , lovely people to attend to any problem ... My family and I had a wonderful 5 days that we wanted to extend to prevent ourselves from getting into the hustle and bustle of kampala.
A retreat is what it was.
Thanks so much Nathaniel we shall be back.
I stayed in Nathaniel's house at the beginning of the week. Then went back at the end of the week. That's how awesome it is.
This house was perfect - clean, comfortable, easy. Pretty garden, easy access to everything in Entebbe, and Rogers is a tremendous help. Sweet dog. My only regret is that I didn't stay longer.
