About This Listing
Proceeds to children living with HIV. Charming 2 bed, 2 bath, 1950's bungalow. Easy to find, 4 kms from airport & beach. Large garden. Power & water backup. Free WiFi. $10 for safe airport pickup. $10 food basket for a late night snack and breakfast.
Very quiet, peaceful setting, yet close to everything Entebbe has to offer. High thread-count linens, tasteful designs, and a large part of my African art collection. I have lived in Uganda for 14 years, and have gathered lovely antiquities and modern pieces. Much of the design is shabby chic to be sure. Armed security at night, secured fencing.
Free WiFi up to 500mb's.
Drinking water provided. We can also offer a nice arrival basket of fruit, juice, milk, bread, margarine, coffee, tea, sugar and eggs if you like ($10 for two people), or there are two neighborhood kiosks that sell essentials. One across the street, and another a block away.
You have the whole house! We also have a sweet (outside) guard dog named Honey.
Interaction with Guests
Two students live in an outbuilding on-site, so are available to greet you, to answer questions, to offer advice, and to problem-solve, but they also very much respect your privacy. The level of interaction is entirely up to you. If they have time, and if you'd like to negotiate with them, they are sometimes able to help with tasks and errands.
Quiet, private, lots of birds, convenient. Golf course at the end of the street. In town, so easy to find, yet feels like a quiet retreat. Restaurant nearby for your convenience.
Once you leave the airport and round the lake, there are literally only three turns, and then you're at our gate. There is a bodaboda stand nearby. We're so close to everything that a special hire taxi is also affordable, and walking is very doable. I don't use my car when I am home.
Other Things to Note
All proceeds go to the care of orphans living with HIV/AIDS at AidChild. Please note that this is a 60 year old bungalow in a harsh setting, meaning some of the walls and the bathrooms definitely have a shabby-chic look to them. If that style doesn't appeal to you, this may not be the best fit. But I like it!
Great place, relaxing ambiance , lovely people to attend to any problem ... My family and I had a wonderful 5 days that we wanted to extend to prevent ourselves from getting into the hustle and bustle of kampala.
A retreat is what it was.
Thanks so much Nathaniel we shall be back.
I stayed in Nathaniel's house at the beginning of the week. Then went back at the end of the week. That's how awesome it is.
This house was perfect - clean, comfortable, easy. Pretty garden, easy access to everything in Entebbe, and Rogers is a tremendous help. Sweet dog. My only regret is that I didn't stay longer.
Nathaniel's place is a relaxing home for us when we come to Entebbe. It is 2-bedrooms, but feels much more spacious because of the big rooms and large windows. The gardens are secluded and peaceful and so the whole atmosphere is calm, a big contrast to the hustle and bustle of life in Kampala or many other towns in Uganda. We like the place because you get the whole house to yourself and with 2 young kids, it is really necessary to have the space, like a family home. Rogers and Dickens are financially supported by Nathaniel through education and stay in separate accommodation on the premises and are helpful for getting taxis or advice, they are friendly and are hardly ever there because of studies, much less a bother. Nathaniel himself seems like one of the good guys, he is involved in charity work and practically-speaking, he is very prompt at answering e-mails and queries. In the house, Nathaniel, Rogers and Dickens leave towels, soap and drinking water for guests and the house is tidy when we arrive. There has been no problems with water and only occasionally will power be off. To this end, Nathaniel has some back-up lighting and a power socket still available. All-in-all, this house is a comfortable place to stay and relax while you are in Entebbe.
We had a wonderful stay at Nathaniel's home in Entebbe and highly recommend it to anyone staying in the area. This is a large, 2-bedroom, 2-bath home on beautiful grounds in a residential neighborhood with easy access to airport, restaurants and transportation. The grounds are lovely and the African art and artifacts are remarkable!
The kitchen is well-equipped which can immensely on food costs. Excellent markets are a short boda-boda ride away. Two nearby restaurants were very good and gave us breaks from cooking in the evening.
The best part of the setup is the help of the 2 students who live onsite. They were immensely helpful when road construction cut off power. A special thanks to Rogers!
We highly recommend Nathaniel's home to AirBNB travelers who want room to stretch out, entertain and experience authentic Entebbe.
