2 bdrm / + loft bedroom / 2 bath, large kitchen, family room - no pets, no smoking. Search "amen river house". 7 person max. Bunk beds for children only. Land line for local calls or use pre-paid phone card. NO internet / cell phone coverage. Renter minimum 25 years old - this is our unattended home.

In mountains 10,000 ft, bordered by forest. 16 mile drive to Walmart. 4 mile drive to ski slopes (Monarch). Monthly rentals only due to Chaffee County regulations.

The space
Master bdrm - one king; upstairs bedroom - one full, two singles in bunk bed; loft bedroom - one full, one queen While we say 8 persons max, it is best if at least two are children because of the bunk bed. The bunk bed is NOT meant for adults!

Guest access
Use our empty lots next door to access the stairs down to the stream. We have a "secret" rocky stairway there ... just walk through our empty lot from the driveway.

Other things to note
We are located in the small mining town of Garfield (was also listed as Monarch, CO in the past). Bordered by the national forest. Looking for 5 star accommodations and internet????? Our vacation home is not for you. No internet, no cell phone coverage.

Last summer a bear tried to get into the trash can at night. Please keep ALL food smells contained (use snap lid containers or the fridge). The clothes washer and dryer are sturdy commercial units, and THEY NEED QUARTERS TO OPERATE. Bring quarters !!!

Those flying into KANK in Salida - - $200 REFUNDED - - This is our family’s 'pilot's cabin' in the national forest, located at an elevation of 10,000 feet in a small mining town. Yes, I support aviation and pilot/owners. If you fly your aircraft into Harriet Alexander Field (ANK) and tie down overnight, I will refund $200 after your first stay. Just give me a call before your stay (see our airnav listing for details). Simple. Good through 2019. Thanks for supporting our small community airport with your fuel purchases.

Neighborhood highlights

WE ARE NOT LOCATED IN SALIDA, CO AS STATED ABOVE. Our vacation home is in Garfield, about 16 miles west. We have just rebuilt our rear outside deck (Oct 2017). The lower deck over the stream is also available, and the front porch swing awaits for you and your morning coffee. We are adding a boot room / mud room on the side porch, which is our main entry. As of Jan 2019 it is under construction and 50% complete. Feel free to use it for snowy items. Our projected completion is late 2019. It's a fun project, after all!
