A localização é ótima, o bairro é bonito e próximo a pontos turísticos.
We had a very nice stay at Alexandra's place, we were welcomed by her husband, showed us everything and gave us a map, pinpointed the hotspots and possible places of intrests, forms of transport...
Everything was very tidy and clean, well organised, had good nights sleep, our son enjoyed the big screen tv and we used the well equipped kitchen...easy to park in front aswell. We used the busline closeby and the old tramline..Porto old town was within easy reach. Thanks for a lovely stay ! ps we loved PORTO !
Eine große, gut aufgeteilte Wohnung im Souterrain.
Die Gastgeber sind freundlich und hilfsbereit.
Lovely flat close to the sea. Although the weather was more on the rain quadrant, we found ourselves lucky to have chosen this flat : you have a lo of space, a big table. All you can imagine is there, clean and tidy. Alexandra's husband Eduardo has welcomed us very warmly giving us details on the area, porto and transportation.
A good dress that can only recommend.
Foz do Douro is a charming place. The narrow cobblestone streets wind up and around past lovely tiled buildings, palms and interesting houses. It's worth an exploration just to see the neighbourhood alone.
We arrived late at night after a harrowing taxi ride from the airport (the driver was grumpy, had no English and literally dumped us out without reaching our destination). Luckily, a lovely local woman out walking her dog saved us and brought us right to the studio.
Eduardo was waiting, gave us the tour, a handy map and some ideas and told us to let him know if we needed anything at all. He was a gentleman, so nice after a long trip.
The studio is a basement conversion (double doors leading out to the patio) and equipped with everything you need, the shower is excellent and the bed comfortable. The small patio area is lush with flowers and plants and in general the area is peaceful. It was fun to hear the locals speaking to each other (Portuguese is a beautiful language). There are good restaurants, a grocery store, bakery and all kinds of wonderful shops.
The beaches are lovely, just be aware that the tide is very strong so get advice on where it's safest to swim.
To be aware of, if you take a taxi from the airport either know some clear phrases in Portuguese or see if you can find a driver who understands your language.
Also, the studio does appear to have a dampness issue resulting in a slightly musty smell, probably due to the fact that it is a basement. Otherwise, it was a varied and interesting experience and the studio is especially good if you don't want to stay right in the middle of the city. It's very centrally located and you can get in and out of Porto on the 500 bus or take the historic tram.
