jean-marie's mum welcomed us in venaco with great hospitality and kindness! she was absolute helpful, giving us hiking and location tips. we visited venaco in september, when there weren't so many tourists (any more). the village in the heart of corsica is calm, friendly and a good starting point for hiking tours or a trip to corte. everything was fine!
It was a nice and clean place with a beautiful view! The father of jean-marie gave us a warm wellcome and great tourist-information. I can recommend it to everyone!
Passage d'une nuit dans ce petit studio agréable. Proche de la vallée de la restonica et de Corte. Région magnifique
Jean Marie's place was very easy to find. It's a good location if you want to go into the mountains. It's only 10-15 min from Corte, and Gorges de la Restonica (which is highly recommended if you like a good hike).
The studio is simple but OK. unfortunatly the fridge was off when we arrived, so it took a day before it worked properly. but besides that it was fine. His father welcomed us, in French! (Which was quet a challange as me and my boyfriend hardly speak french).
We had a great stay in this apartment, it was ideal as a stopping point as we travelled around Corsica, We recommend breaking your trip into smaller sections as the really interesting roads take time and a bit of bravado, which can be a bit tiring. Venaco is a typical Corsican pleasant small town with a few shops, a restaurant and a bar or two, that makes it a peaceful stopover when travelling in this area. Our host Mr Cabrières convinced us on an early start for the nearby Gorges de la Restonica trip which we did, well worth the effort. Mr Cabrières met us as we entered the village so we found the apartment with no problems. It was comfortable and clean, small but a good size for two people, with a truly fantastic view over the valley from the front door, we where able to park our car just outside the apartment. It is on the ground floor with the N197 outside the front door but traffic was no problem and it was surprisingly quiet during the night.
We would definitely recommend this apartment in Venaco to anyone wanting to stay in this area.
It would also be good for someone arriving by train as I believe the train trip is spectacular.
Thank you for your hospitality Mr Cabrières and Jean-Marie Cabrières we look forward to returning to Corsica someday.
We had a wonderful night's stay at Jean-Marie's delightful studio. The views from the front door across the valley towards the mountains were spectacular and we loved the rustic charm of the studio and surrounding village, with its cool, elevated breeze and unpretentious cafes and restaurants - the perfect antidote to the coastlines of Corsica and, specifically for us, a great stop-off point en route to the south of the island.
The drive up to Venaco was worth it alone - weaving through the dramatic, Alpine-like landscape - and helped us appreciate fully the wonderful diversity of the island.
All in all, a great experience - Jean-Marie was very friendly and his studio was ideal for us. The perfect final night to our Corsican adventure!
The studio was great, in the heart of Venaco. It was situated on street level and we were a little surprised by the traffic in the small village, but the view was truly amazing!
Venaco was a pleasant village, with great opportunities for hiking in the mountains and valleys, and a fantastic bar for drinking pastis. The weather showed great variation, which we truly enjoyed. Jean-Marie was a very nice and heplful host. Thanks!
