Experience glamping, Blue Ridge style. Our luxury yurt is located at the top of a small hill, in the center of a 70 acre farmstead surrounded by natural beauty.
Night Archer Farm is located off a quiet country road in Afton, Nelson County. It is private, but not remote. You are close to the Brew Ridge trail, wineries, breweries, skiing at Wintergreen, Blue Mountain Brewery, Devil's Backbone, golf, hiking, or driving the Blue Ridge Parkway. Hike directly from the Yurt up into the mountains!
The space
PLEASE NOTE: There is a 3 night minimum for long weekends. Please leave those weekends available for the folks who want to come for 3 nights. Thanks!
PLEASE READ BEFORE BOOKING: The road to the Yurt is rutted and bumpy. It is best suited to all wheel, high clearance, or 4 wheel drive vehicles, especially in the winter in the snow. Please do not book if you don't think you can get up the road. Prius owners, I'm looking at you.
Glamping at it finest. Enjoy a relaxing stay in our Yurt in the heart of the Blue Ridge and feel the stress of daily life slip away.
The Yurt is 30 feet in diameter with 10 foot walls. It's a total of 720 square feet with a cozy bedroom and a sleeping loft. It has heating in the winter and air conditioning in the summer, a fully equipped kitchen with a dishwasher, a bathroom with a claw foot tub with shower, fresh linens and towels, and an open living/dining area with a wood stove. It boosts a large 400 square foot deck with lovely views of the pond and the Blue Ridge mountains.
Take advantage of all that the surrounding area has to offer including hiking, skiing, antiques, farmer's market, restaurants, live music, and all the wineries, breweries, and cideries along the Brew Ridge Trail. Or just hang out at the fully equipped Yurt. Kick back with a glass of wine from one of the local wineries and watch the sunset, dine al fresco on the large deck, enjoy the stars from the hot tub tucked in a secluded grove of trees nearby, cozy up to a fire in the wood stove (seasonal), enjoy a fire or roast marshmallows on the outdoor fire pit (bring your own wood!), grill (but NEVER on the deck or too close to the yurt, please!), watch a movie, listen to records, get up early and watch the sunrise over the mountains, hike directly from the Yurt to Humpback Rocks and the Appalachian Trail, or enjoy fishing, paddle boating (seasonal), and swimming in the spring fed 2 acre pond.
Guest access
At Night Archer Farm you have shared access along with the owners to the entire 70-acres property including the swimming and fishing pond, the creek, and the hiking trails. If you are at the pond, we will try not to be. If there is no one at the pond, we will use it, but welcome you to come down! We do our best to provide our guests with privacy, but we live on the property. There is a chance you may run into us while we're hiking the trails or walking our dogs. You have exclusive access to the hot tub. There are no other rental units on the property.
Other things to note
The main road to the yurt is gravel, rocky, and pretty bumpy. A high clearance or AWD vehicle is HIGHLY recommended, especially in the snow. While you certainly can make it up the road in a regular vehicle, we cannot be responsible for shuttling you up and down the road in the event that there is snow.
The yurt now has super fast fiber optic internet!!! It also has a cell signal booster, so if you have Sprint or Verizon you should be able to make calls and get a 3G cellular signal. Or use the wifi calling feature on your smartphone.
We have spent a lot of time putting together the information on the Airbnb listing and in the the binder at the yurt. Many of the questions you might have, likely have already been answered. Please respect our family time between 6pm and 9am, unless there is an emergency.
The yurt is for registered guests ONLY. Any guests of guests MUST be cleared with the hosts PRIOR to arrival and are subject to a surcharge of $25 per night per guest. (Check in 3pm and check out 11am times apply to these guests.)
The yurt has all the creature comforts you might want but keep in mind, it's still a tent. It has a/c but during the hot summer months (especially during a heat wave), it can be difficult to keep it cool. The sleeping loft gets hot and you may want to keep that in mind when booking the yurt during peak summer months. It gets cooler in the evening once the sun goes down.
There are a few weeks in the Fall and Spring where we have a lot of stink bugs and lady bugs. It is nearly impossible (despite our best efforts) to keep them from getting in, as the yurt can not be completely sealed. We apologize in advance if you happen to be here during those weeks. If you don't like bugs, you may want to stay somewhere else.
You will hear birds chirping, frogs and crickets in the summer, the sound of rain on the roof, the wind blowing, owls hooting at night, coyotes howling, and the occasional dog barking. For light sleepers (raises hand) we have provided a fan and ear plugs.
The weather can get pretty intense in our neck of the woods at times. The wind comes down off the Blue Ridge like a freight train during a storm. If you happen to be in the yurt during a storm, try to relax. It sounds worse than it actually is.
During the summer months, keeping the blinds closed can knock off a few degrees from the temperature. Do not run the overhead fan unless you have guests sleeping in the loft. All it does is push the hot air down, making the loft cooler, but the main area warmer.
DO NOT grill on the deck or too close to the yurt, as it is a tremendous fire hazard. Grill in the driveway and put the grill back under the yurt when you’re done. Do not dispose of hot coals or burning embers in the tall grass for obvious reasons. Use the metal bin beside the grill.
Please close the outdoor umbrella when not in use. The wind will come out of nowhere and damage it.
Unfortunately, we are not responsible for any personal items left behind. The nearest post office is 40 minutes round trip away and we are no longer willing to take the time out of our day to mail items back to you. Please check the yurt thoroughly for your personal items before you leave. Thanks for understanding.
