Dunedin ! This little gem is actually a neighbor of Tampa and is nestled in a quiet cove of St. Joseph sound. According to the city’s website, the city is popular with the international crowd, which is appropriate for a town named after Edinburg, Scotland. Always busy with a variety of activities, the town actually hosts more than 25 festivals and events every year.
Aside from its several beautiful beaches, Dunedin is home to Caladesi Island State Park. Accessible only by boat, Caladesi is, according to Visit Florida, one of the last undeveloped barrier islands. The beaches in this park are often listed in travel guides as some of the best in the entire world.
Honeymoon Island is a part of this park and provides a number of popular activities, including concessions for fishing, boating, and snorkeling. The 20-minute boat ride from Honeymoon Island takes you to what Dr. Beach calls the best beach in America. It boasts of many quiet paths among pristine dunes and palm trees. You’ll find sand dollars and other shells along the beaches, as well as a number of concession stands.
One of the major attractions for many is the quaint downtown, full of unique boutiques and unusual shopping opportunities. The town’s website boasts that there are virtually no franchise stores or representatives of national chains in the town, as well as no commercial signage.
Speaking to the city’s welcoming spirit and ambience, Walking Magazine considers Dunedin the “Best Little Walking Town in America.” Walkers are seen all hours of the day throughout the community. As the spring training home for the Toronto Blue Jays, the city stadium also hosts events with major league teams all year long. The Florida favorites of beaches and sun are enjoyed by residents while they work hard to maintain a true Main Street America environment.
Bus stop 2 blocks away and Trolley stop is a 10 minute walk. .

It was a nice place to come back to after our long days. The room was comfortable and welcoming. Linnie made us feel welcome there.
My brother and I stayed at Linnie's for bit over a month. It was exactly as listed. It was great for both of us, enough room, grocery store, gym and beach nearby. Had a great time. Linnie was very helpful, friendly and a great host. When we return to the area we would defiantly look into staying with Linnie again.
This was my first experience with Airbnb, and I was pleasantly surprised. The room in Dunedin, FL rented to me by Linnie was exactly as advertised. She was nice and welcoming, and the room was clean and spacious. The room even had a 32" HD TV with Roku for Netfilx and Amazon Instant Video to choose from. The wireless Wifi also worked great. It may be helpful for potential renters to know that it is a mobile home, and you will be sharing the only bathroom which is not connected to the room you stay in.
The hotel rooms in Dunedin during the winter season were asking over $150 a night, so the $45 per night for this room was a great way to save money during my 5 night stay.
Our stay at this Dunedin, Florida home was not what we expected from the hype given it in its advertisement. The very nice photos do not reflect the reality of a home in disrepair. The toilet needs checking after use. To be fair, she did show us how to lift the tank lid and what to jiggle as well as how best to use a shower in need of repair. There were warnings about multiple appliance usage as not to blow fuses. The description of “Shabby Chic”, quite frankly, was more on the shabby side. We were never shown nor offered access to a pool or gym. The term “resort community” is disingenuous as this is a neighborhood of work a day people.
If you are looking for privacy then look elsewhere as our hostess was intrusive, coming in to our room with little warning when it suited her.
I'm sorry that the accommodations did not live up to your expectations.
This is why I explained that they were modest accommodations and the lowest rate in the area, in the e mail before you booked, so you could make an educated decision. I'm sorry you felt my knocking on the door and offering your Husband who arrived sick with a heavy cough, the Vick's vapor rub , vitamin C, cough syrup ,honey, etc that he graciously accepted and seemed to be grateful for ,as well as the freshly ground and brewed coffee you graciously accepted. yet now you are referring to it as "intrusive" ?
It may have been a better idea to call and explain that he was sick and I would have gladly changed your reservation for you are given you a refund and saved you a couple hours drive.I know it put real damper on your vacation plans. I am glad you eventually took him to the Dr and I'm happy that I went to the Dr the next day after picking up the contagious infection you brought with you.The shower worked just fine, the hand help second piece only worked on one setting. If I had know it bothered you I would have gladly temporarily unscrewed it so that only shower was for your use and not the extra hand help piece., the toilet handle needing to be jiggled sometimes , I would have gladly just kept check of it myself if it was too much trouble to be gentle with it. I had no idea that any of this was bothersome to you. I am truly sorry that you did not address these issues when you were here. I'm glad the antibiotics that were prescribed to Richard kicked in so soon. I was still down for 2 days after you left but i am feeling much better now. No one has ever come to stay before with a contagious illness. As far as the name of the community, It was named a Senior Resort community by the owners of the complex long before i moved here. If you had asked about the pools and or the gym I would have gladly showed you where they were as i showed you were other things were that You asked about, You shared what your plans were each day and never once mentioned a desire to go to go to either. It's unfortunate that you focused only on negativity, You never let on for a second how you really felt.Communication is the key.
As they say, some things are just meant to be..my stay with Linnie and choosing Dunedin was just one of those things. From my first night in town to our last hug goodbye, Linnie made my first solo trip to Florida an extremely fun and unique experience. If you are looking for character, you've come to the right place, cause Linnie and her humble abode have got it. Her work from home during the week can be a bit demanding, so it may work best if you are someone looking for a place to come back to at the end of the day. On that note, people who can't see life for the wild ride that it can be, need not apply.
Hope you enjoy the new lights in the beautiful back garden as much as I did! Thank you Linnie!!
Linnie was a great host. We reached at around 10pm, and she welcomed us in with open arms. And offered us delicious split pea soup for dinner. We had a hearty and candid conversation over dinner.
The room was so cozy, and tastefully decorated. We had a very relaxing sleep that night. We headed out to the beach early next morning to catch the sunrise, and she gave us beach towels and portable chairs. She helped us make some really delicious toast with polish spread and butter with coffee. She also helped us find things to do in the area.
Linnie is one of those people who are vivacious, genuinely love talking to people and care if the guests are having a good time. We were lucky to meet her, spend time and learn from her. I will be back soon! Definitely recommend her place, if you are in the Tampa/Clearwater area
Linnie was very friendly and welcoming, appreciated her making sure we were ok with the modest accommodations before confirming the reservation. Nice quiet neighborhood well-situated for us traveling from Miami with plans in both Clearwater Beach and Tampa.

I have a Strong aesthetic basis. Outgoing--I love people. Talkative. Disdain fools and pretenders. Crave happy people, places and things. Strong drive to help people and fix broken-winged birds.Frugal, yet I enjoy fine places, fine events and fine dining. Go, go, go...collapse!
