Catherine and Phil were very welcoming and provided a lot of great suggestions of things to do once they found out about our interests. Their property is beautiful and the pictures of the outdoor space do not do it justice. The guest space is attached to their own residence, on the bottom floor, but is completely closed off from the primary residence. It is a great use of space and I would describe it as "updated rustic". Well furnished, lots of light, and comfy. We look forward to staying with them again when we are in the area!
We had a fantastic time here—Phil & Catherine instantly made us feel at home (as did their two dogs!) We thoroughly enjoyed the hot tub & fantastic view from the house, as well as the comfortable room.
Everything about this place, from the location to the amenities to (especially) the hosts, bordered on surreal. I couldn't really hope for or imagine anything better. If they'll have me, I'll be back.
Catherine and Phil are so nice and friendly. They'd provided eggs, yogurt, fruits, coffee etc for breakfast. Also welcomed us with some tasty sweets. House, Amenities and area are exact same as description and pictures. hot tub was wonderful with awesome view. I've stayed in places which were nice but hosts were new in this job and not very professional which I believe is very important. Everything Catherine and Phil did for us was so professional and we felt so convenient. If you like to stay somewhere kind of half country and just relax, hot tub, pool, wine, BBQ, Tennis, anti depression gorgeous view,... I recommend Chateau Edelweiss.
This was my first air bnb experience, and I am quite sure it will not be my last. What an incredible place! The pool and yard are breathtaking. The guesthouse (which IS attached to the house, but feels completely separate) is lovely, pictures don't do it justice. Lots of light, very private and serene, the shower is AWESOME, there is a skylight in the bathroom.
Catherine and Phil were out of town when we arrived (which was communicated) and we were greeted by their friendly caretaker, Tim, who was happy to give us a tour and tell us all about the area. The fridge in our room was stocked with sparkling water, beer, yogurt, and eggs, and fresh pastries were waiting on the table. I was blown away by all of the little details: a book including contact numbers, amenities, things to do in the area- just like a hotel, but OH so much better- fluffy towels, brochures for wineries and tourist attractions, and two little gourmet chocolates next to our key! During our stay, we went wine tasting (there are about 15 vineyards in a ten mile radius, something like that) got delicious thai food, frolicked in the pool, sat in the hot tub, and just relaxed, it was perfect. I have always lived near cities and was delighted by the nighttime soundtrack: crickets, cows mooing, no traffic from the 101 rumbling through my apartment (!), and the pristine water reflecting the moon and stars... yea, it's paradise here.
Catherine and Phil came back the day we went wine tasting. We didn't get to meet the wonderful Catherine, but did get to chat with Phil who was incredibly hospitable and so cool! My boyfriend really wanted to go somewhere private and secluded, which we definitely got, but I will say I would love to go wine tasting with them next time! ;) Truly fantastic hosts who genuinely care about their guests.
If you are on the fence about booking this, take the leap, you won't be disappointed. Unless I'm on vacation too, in which case, move along! :)
We had a fantastic experience at Catherine & Phil's lovely guest house. The guest suite was big and full of natural light with views out across the rolling hills. It had a separate kitchen area fully stocked with utensils and even groceries! They have a sweet little electric fireplace by the bed and a lovely bathroom with a skylight and a bathtub. The grounds were absolutely beautiful and the pool was really fun with rock formations and even a little beach-like lounging area. We missed meeting Catherine and Phil as they were out of town, but they were very friendly and responsive during the booking process and Tim (their caretaker) was sweet and very helpful. We had a perfect, relaxing getaway, thank you so much!!
We had a fabulous time at the Chateau Edelweiss and can't wait to stay there again. Everything was so stunningly beautiful, from the views to the pools. Catherine and Phil were great hosts, we felt very taken care of. Catherine even asked about our dietary restrictions and had gluten-free, dairy free treats waiting for us when we checked in, along with breakfast food! It's quite and peaceful and amazing. Can't wait to come back soon.
I am Swiss and my husband is American, so we have combined the best of the European Pension experience with the American need to be "on the go." We both have offices at home and nearby. We lead an active lifestyle and make time to run, cycle, and workout. We enjoy traveling and meeting new people.
The Swiss sincerely enjoy having guests in our homes and hosting guests through Airbnb grew naturally from this joy of sharing food, wine, and good stories with friends and family. We look forward to meeting you.
