This comfortable studio apartment is convenient to downtown, Glenwood South, the Convention Center, NCSU and Red Hat. Two can happily share this sweet space with the screened porch, full kitchen and off-street parking, but there is an extra air bed (and bedding!) included in the studio.
This private garden studio apartment is located across the street from Fletcher Park and features a full-size kitchen, wifi and cable. The unit is light-filled and calm, and the neighborhood is convenient to downtown Raleigh locations like the Red Hat Amphitheater, Convention Center, Glenwood South and Cameron Village. The queen-size bed sleeps two, and there is a new airbed (with bedding) in the studio if it's needed. The small screened-in porch overlooks a chicken coop and fish pond on the property.
The bedroom part of the studio is separated from the main part by a half wall and two columns. There is an open doorway between both areas, but overall the studio is open and spacious feeling. If you need complete privacy in the sleeping area, this studio may not be the best option for you.
The studio is on the ground floor and while it is not officially 'handicap accessible' it may work for you if you have special needs. There are no stairs. The bathroom and bedroom doors are tight for a wheelchair/walker, but the counter and half-wall may provide sufficient support. A relative recuperated from knee replacement surgery in the studio and appreciated the ease of movement! Please message me if you have special needs and I can provide more details.

Built in the 1890's-1920's, the Glenwood-Brooklyn neighborhood is filled with smaller homes painted in pastel shades, green gardens that glow with art and blooms, and a location that can't be beat.
This studio is located in a building that was originally a carriage house or garage. It has been divided into two apartments, an upstairs and a downstairs (the one listed.) The upstairs unit has been occupied by the same person for almost 20 years (it's a pretty nice place!) The earliest mention we can find of any human occupants in the building dates to the 1940s, but the adjacent house dates to 1912-14. The entire property (outside) is painted in a pink-and-cherry-red color scheme that is cheery and fun. The neighborhood is a mix of (phone number hidden)s cottages and workman's homes, with many modernized dwellings. The area is a favorite with architects and designers and you'll notice a great number of homes with modernist touches, all scattered in between the shabby chic cottages with artfully distressed gardens.
Within walking distance of many downtown activities and close to public transportation, this neighborhood is an ideal place to base your Raleigh visit.
Within a 5 minute walk: Starbucks, Mellow Mushroom Pizza, MoJo's Burgers, convenience store, pharmacy, tennis courts, tattoo parlor, hair salon, McDonalds, bus stops
Within a 10 minute walk: R-line and bus stops, grocery stores (including a 24 hour grocery store-Harris Teeter) , a great beer store, library, numerous bars, independent coffee shop (Helio's) and restaurants, boutiques, bike store, plus Centerline Digital, Saint Mary's School, Arts Together, numerous yoga studios
Within a 15-20 minute walk: Red Hat, NC Museum of Natural Science, NC Museum of History, NC State House, Convention Center, NC State main campus, William Peace University, BB&T, Progress Energy and an amazing group of restaurants and bars.
The city bus system and the R-line (free downtown circulator bus) are within walking distance. Downtown pedicabs (bike cabs) will drop you off at the studio after an evening out for a small fee (generally less than $10, depending on where you started.)
Please park your car in the attached driveway. The city requires residential parking permits for on-street parking in this neighborhood. Please contact me if the driveway is unavailable and I will find out who has taken your parking space.
The studio has cable television and wifi.
Please do not watch pay-per-view on the television.
There are coffee filters in the drawer near the coffee maker. There are coffee, tea, sugar and sweeteners, assorted beverages and condiments in the kitchen. Guests are welcome to any of these items.
You are not required to, but should you wish to run the dishwasher, there are detergent tabs under the sink. There is also hand dish-washing soap under the sink.
The studio is cooled with a wall-unit a/c that is mounted near the bed. There are shutters in front of it, but they are best left open when the unit is on.
In the winter the studio is heated with either base-board heating or with a wall-mounted gas flame unit. If it is to be cold during your visit you'll be shown how to start and set these units.
We utilize natural cleaning supplies whenever possible in maintaining the studio apartment. Guests with special sensitivities are asked to let me know as soon as possible.
For the cost of the groceries, the refrigerator can be stocked with items from Whole Foods in advance of your stay. Please contact me as soon as possible if you wish to have specific items available.
Great place, great host. Perfect for our needs.
I booked an extended stay in Cynthia's extremely comfortable apartment while I was in the process of moving to Raleigh. Cynthia graciously greeted me and had stocked the kitchen with some breakfast items, which were greatly appreciated. The apartment is well-furnished and conveniently located. I loved pulling into the private parking spot at night and knowing that I was "home". I would certainly recommend this accommodation to family and friends!!
Cynthia's cottage is a pure delight and Cynthia is the perfect host. The studio apartment is bright, cheery, well-appointed, and eminently liveable. It's only steps to a lovely downtown park and only a few blocks to downtown Raleigh. We intend to stay with Cynthia again if she isn't booked.
My girlfriend and I stayed for 4 days. Cynthia was a accomodating and generous host. The apartment was clean, comfortable, and at a great location! It was in walking distance to a number of bars and restaurants. I highly recommend this host and apartment for your stay in Raleigh
Cynthia was a great host. She waited up for me to arrive at the apartment because of my delayed flight.
The apartment itself is very cozy, aesthetically pleasing, and located in a great, central (but quiet) neighborhood in Raleigh. The bed was comfortable and the AC made the summer NC weather tolerable! I was in town by myself on business, but the apartment is plenty large enough for a couple.
Cynthia's apartment is great! It's perfectly positioned between down town and Cameron Village (which has a 24/7 grocery store), which was perfect for our trip to Raleigh for the Hopscotch music festival. The apartment has a great feel and is really comfortable, it has all the amenities you need for a long weekend get away, and everything was as advertised! It was also really easy to get "checked-in"; Cynthia met us at the apartment gave us a quick tour of everything inside, answered all of our questions, and was ready to offer advice on our stay in Raleigh. As she explained, she's been renting the apartment for a while now, but we were the first people to find it through AirBnB; it was clear she knew what we she was doing, the communication was spot on, and she was very considerate. Next time I come to Raleigh, I am definitely going to check to see if her apartment is available! In short it was a great weekend at a music fest in down town Raleigh, made even better by having a great place to stay!
